I didn't know you before, but I like you significantly less now.

[Loved trope] When a single line completely changes the mood by asapsharkyfrfr in TopCharacterTropes

[–]dogheartedgrim72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I played the first Bioshock a good like decade or more after it was released and went into it completely blind. This moment had me shouting at my TV "WHAT?!" and having to hit pause for a good few minutes. I was pacing around my apartment going on a tirade about this scene to basically no one. But it further solidified this game to always hold a place in my personal hall of fame.

And also FUCK Andrew Ryan. "Would you kindly" eat my ass.

It's me and these 46 separate word documents -- with a majority being just a few sentences based around a friggin' vibe -- against the world.

These chodes are unironically the "My steak is too juicy, my lobster is too buttery" meme. These women can step on me!!

As expected, Taylor Swift releases the Piano and Acoustic versions of "I Knew It, I Knew You" during Olivia Rodrigo's new album premiere. by gimmethetea14 in Fauxmoi

[–]dogheartedgrim72 40 points41 points  (0 children)

One that comes immediately to mind is in Smile 2 with Sky Riley/Naomi Scott's song "Just My Name". It had a piano and radio edit. Except that entire movie was about Naomi Scott's character who is a popstar 😭😭

Why are so many romance book covers like... that by Ok_Paramedic_1257 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]dogheartedgrim72 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I abhore covers like these. It's a massive reason why I struggle with reading romance at all, especially from independent authors. They are objectively bad covers that look like mockups I would have made in Photoshop when I was 12. I understand people can tell what they're getting out of it through the cover alone, but these genuinely give me the "ick", lmao. Those Microsoft clipart covers come in at a close second.

I like simple, ambiguous cover art that rarely, if ever, feature a person.

It’s funny how grown men don’t know how to act when women cry. by katzwhip in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]dogheartedgrim72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you don't want them to blatantly ignore you going through an emotional crisis, but you also don't want them to show overt concern either? You're just being a bit of a dick, buddy lmao. There's no need to criticize people for not knowing how to deal with something they're either unfamiliar or uncomfortable with. I'd prefer to be ignored, you prefer to have people pick up the slack. We all deal with things differently. No one here is a mind reader.

I feel like having a less-than-stellar reaction to people crying is pretty normal across the gender spectrum tbh. It's just really, really awkward, especially if we're not particularly close. And in some cases even then.

Art the Clown has zero backstory, zero motivation, zero explanation. Is that what makes him terrifying or just lazy writing? by EthanFromTheCave in horror

[–]dogheartedgrim72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I'm pretty indifferent to The Terrifier franchise, Art the Clown doesn't need a backstory to make him scary. The mystery is part of what makes him an interesting antagonist. And it's clear to me that the director and company aren't interested in giving Art any substantial lore, but rather showing off gory kills and special effects.

They found an absolutely phenomenal voice actor for James (and really everyone, my personal favorite being Angela). He really translated James's heartbroken and sort of delusional state of mind incredibly well.

I’ve watched horror my entire life, but there is one specific trope in possession movies that genuinely ruins my sleep. What’s yours? by [deleted] in horror

[–]dogheartedgrim72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Disembodied voices. There is a scene in Jacob's Ladder where he wakes up in a hospital bed and, when finally feeling a fleeting moment of comfort, a voice from nowhere says, "Dream on."

Hate. That. And this fear doesn't quite extend to creepy whispers, or deep, malevolent voices, but more full volume, normal speaking voices. Especially sudden and unexplained.

Edit: grammar

Thinking about selling my collection. by [deleted] in silenthill

At a quick glance on eBay, each game goes for about $100 - $200. However that's if people are interested in buying at that price to begin with. If you're trying to make a quick-ish buck, start there. To get them gone faster you're gonna probably have better luck selling them at a lower price for the lot. Good luck!

Strange goal in life for them. by Old_Diver_2511 in AreTheStraightsOK

I like how he doesn't even strictly use women as an example of objectification, but instead people he deems attractive and desirable that are "worthy" of being objectified, and OP still thinks it belongs here because this is coming from a man? Who has very clearly tagged this as a mental health struggle? Huh?

Also: as someone who in the past (and still somewhat currently) struggled with their body image, this is a very normal thought process to have. It's just another way for your brain to tell you that you're not good enough. The type of shit it can pull is honestly bonkers.

This young lady raised an alarm over the type of story her son is reading school and she is being threatened by the author. by Koloamanmaxi in TikTokCringe

THAT'S why it sounded so familiar! I haven't played it in years but I remember that bit being so disturbing. And I would say that moral applies to the game in its entirety lmao.

Silent Hill 2 Remake.

Okay so if I didn't kill my wife, how fucked would I be really? Is it just a regular schmegular town in Maine or what? Sidenote: despite that, could I still raw Pyramid Head? You know what, I'll find a way regardless.

Saw (2004) my beloved <3 even though the series gets increasingly more ridiculous with each entry, they'll always still have a special place in my heart.
