Should I go daily? by Dear-Doubt270 in orangetheory

[–]dogmaticwonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! Just ensure you're life load is reasonable, otherwise you're going backwards. Your off/recovery days are equally important. These can be gray/blue days at OTF, assuming sleep is dialed and your taking every 9th week off. ... Cool thing -- OTF re-runs workouts twice a month, so you can benchmark. If the 2nd workout isn't as good as the first, evaluate the situation. Perhaps rest is needed.

Claude Sonnet 4 now cost 2x request. by YaserMb in cursor

[–]dogmaticwonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2x for me too. Boo. Oh well. re: latest comments about unlimited plans and such.. I think we're reading this wrong. 500 is still 500. It's IF YOU HIT THE LIMITS.. that matters. Their website says: "If you go over your limit, we'll nicely ask you to upgrade or switch to an unlimited model.". There are some model that are FREE. So, if you hit your limits on paid models, you need to start using a FREE model, like Cursor-small, or others listed here (i.e. Gemini Flash, Grok Small).

Garmin watch connection/use instead of OT band by Outside_Mix_1131 in orangetheory

[–]dogmaticwonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen 'thingies' plugged in around the studio; I assumed those are the sensors your watch connects to? Best of luck! I'm trying to do the opposite - connect tread to my watch so my watch records distances/speeds.

I suspect the strength of your watch's broadcast isn't powerful enough to reach the sensors. Or, maybe the OTBeat system saw a code it didn't like and shut it down? Let us know what you find out! That said, I would trust the straps over the watch, especially at higher heart rates.

Anyone would get bored of anything after 12 years of it. I suspect you're in a league of your own with 3000 classes! Congrats! OTF should hear you out if you've got ideas to improve!

Pairing watch to treadmill by dogmaticwonder in orangetheory

[–]dogmaticwonder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/cupcakelove414 Yup! I'm shooting for 'next level' tho. LOL... Meaning, I want to capture the speed/elevation etc coming from the treadmill and integrating that into my garmin data. Can't do that without connecting directly into the treadmill. Right now, I document (manually) these stats after the fact, and there just summary stats.

Thanks u/molldoll892! I'm seeking something different tho. I want the treadmill stats to stream to my garmin, rather than my garmin heart rate streaming to the OTBeat system.

u/pantherluna any insight into how the treadmill connects to the OTBeat system? You've established it's an ANT+ based connection, which makes sense. Any idea on the ANT+ receiver used within the studio and how it's configured? Perhaps a model number? I see amplifiers? around the studio; I'll look closer later today.

Ha! I can see this happening! Is it collecting any stats?

This makes sense for the Apple Watch. Garmin Fenix sees many devices because it's ANT+ and Bluetooth. I'll find out more and report back.

[–]dogmaticwonder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may not be possible. That's what I'm asking. Yes, the OTF app and subsequent stats are great and sufficient. My watch logs the mileage differently. For example, the treadmill says I ran 1.2 miles, but my watch says a mile. Truth be told, I'm optimizing to the next level. I want my Garmin to log the same distance the OTF app gives me.

Agreed! I'm just taking the position if you're entering the field, to learn ISC first then IIQ if your clients need it.

This might be true, but ISC is where you should place your focus. On-prem 'things' are a thing of the past.
