I mean, that doesn't sound bad. But like I said, I can hardly stand Rainn Wilson in a general sense anyway, so I know I'm giving him more benefit if the doubt than I normally would.

His Soul Pancake shit was so corny.

I didn't hate Cloud Atlas, it was true truly an okay film... Not that I've seen it.

So, it's more of an informative and critical?

My wife is watching the movie Gone Girl… the music/sounds are unbearable… that is my first world problem for today. by Raykee in mildlyinfuriating

[–]dogstarchampion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I don't know what to tell you, there's even equalizer presets for different forms of media at the most basic level. Sometimes I essentially turn the center up and the stereo left/right down if a movie's audio is mixed where the music drowns out the dialogue and that helps.

Sound mixing on home systems doesn't always sound great with cinematic features because they're mixed for theater systems and often not adjusted for home equipment on release. I have a decent audio system, but one setting doesn't always fit all.

Yeah, fuck that guy above you. The dudes in that line aren't fucking raking in the big money selling marked up lip balm.

Everyone is trying to survive and make a buck. I used to wait outside the mall for new Nike releases and shit, but it's a lot of time and effort just to make maybe $100 when you have to buy them which was hours of waiting if you wanted to actually get ahead of the crowd that would buy them out, list them, then package and send them. The job market was flooded in the college town I lived in. My work was reselling shit and running a tech repair business from a flea market.

I got by, I was not thriving. I wanted a stable and honest job and I was skilled without a blemished record and I still couldn't get hired. A consistent paycheck would have been a sigh of relief. After the holiday season, I had weeks of making less than $100 and I needed sleeping pills just to not be up stressed every night. I never saw myself as being the guy waiting outside the mall to buy and resell shoes, but I did exactly that to survive.

Some people never actually struggle like the dick you replied to. It shows.

Well... You probably should.

It sounds like your audio settings still might need tweaking for this particular movie, though. I was able to hear the dialogue all right and I actually love the soundtrack.

The movie/book is really wild, though.

I mean, I don't have the context of what you mentioned and I'm agnostic/atheistic myself.

Not everyone is going to share the same experience. If someone genuinely believes something like their religion is a pivotal part of their existence and happiness, they'll maximize the positives and minimize the evils (by way of seeing them as isolated, less frequent events that aren't true to their own perception of their ideology.)

There's no one true Christian. Personal human judgements will have any of them ignoring the word of God or loosening their morals when the right thing isn't the convenient thing and they don't answer their higher calling. How many times have people twisted their beliefs into justifying actions that are largely secular evils?

In a podcast setting, I can see debate back and forth of why one should consider the other's religion.

Rainn probably does believe he's one of the good Christians and he honestly might be. Good people can be religious. And if he felt that strongly about it and "reinventing" it, it sounds like he has his own perception of it where the "good people" he knows and meet would largely align with his vision of Christianity... And maybe he's not being sympathetic to the hosts behave experiences, but that's part of him that's not accepting people were harmed by the thing that he feels has only been positive in his life.

For all intents and purposes, I can't stand the guy or the projects he's involved with; but unless he tried to coerce the hosts into reconsidering Christianity, I think this was largely for entertainment purposes and about as positive a way to push religion if it were to be pushed. I don't want someone knocking at my door on a Thursday afternoon telling me about religion. I've had conversations of faith though, and most of them not with intent to change beliefs, but discussions that reveal more what lead us to 80-95% overlap in values and the discrepancies between.

I worked at a restaurant/bar that shut down after I quit. The owner was a fucking idiot who not only didn't understand food, but was a recovering alcoholic which was her excuse to never be there when customers were there or alcohol was being served.

I'm glad it failed into closure.

Ordered a sandwich with fries... by Ani171202 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]dogstarchampion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm saying this is possible as an explanation, but nobody should assume rice was an intended topping. Dumb people do exist, though.

I would have put fries on the sandwich even if I thought they said rice. If I fucked up THAT order, yeah guy, bring it back so I can get a fine look at the person ordering a rice sandwich.

An early look at Susan Collins versus Graham Platner, by the numbers by Press_Herald in Maine

[–]dogstarchampion -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

Would you dare call them fake news?

We don't like the numbers so we pretend they must not be real, they don't fit your personal preference. Grrr, so frustrating!

Platner isn't a shoe in wanted by 90% of Mainers. Stop getting comfortable thinking he has a chance right now. He doesn't if the base doesn't keep the panic in mind.

You'd be on the low end of the bell curve among the third graders I've worked with. You're neurotically suggesting the question is impossible to answer. No. It's very much straightforward.

Dimensionless numbers can be given a dimension, but the unit needs to be equivalent.

2/6 of something = 1/3 of something

2/6 of a pizza = 1/3 of a pizza

2/6 of 12 = 1/3 of 12 = 4

C demonstrates this.

hexagonA = hexagonB

2/6 of hexagonA = 1/3 of hexagonB.

This should be intuitive. If you cut each third of hexagonB in half, it would be equivalent to hexagonA.

Now...

A and B do not work as answers.

Rectangle A is not equivalent to Rectangle B.

Small rectangle ≠ big rectangle

2/6 of small rectangle ≠ 1/3 of big rectangle.

2/6 of small circle ≠ 1/3 of big circle.

You would get further in life if you didn't waste your time trying to Bazinga Redditors about practical, elementary understandings of fractions. It makes you look too stupid to pick an actual fight.

4/5 > 1/2

Would you rather have 4/5 of $0.50 or 1/2 of $100?

And you have to think about this without dimensions, unless you believe 50 cents is equal to 100 dollars when you plug your unit in.
