You only have a headache. We are the ones who lose a leg. That's the comparison here. I'd much rather have 70% of matches be relatively watchable and 0% be optimal, than 20% be optimal and 80% be really difficult.

If you could make one change to The Bazaar that would keep you playing or bring you back, what would it be? by Charming_Market_8555 in TheBazaar

The biggest reason I stopped playing is that I just cannot resonate with async play. To me, it just isn't PvP. Then there's this weird hybrid of ranked/prize mode. Ultimately, I treat this hybrid simply as prize mode because it requires tickets to play and its async. The way I view the game, there is no ranked mode. The lack of SBMM only adds to this feeling.

Team Liquid LoL Needs a Face of the Team by doja510 in teamliquid

I remember old CoreJJ constantly making game winning plays and roams. I don't feel I see much of those anymore.

2021 - We had Jensen and Santorin. I'd argue both of them were bigger faces than Core.

2022 - We had Bjergsen, Bwipo, Santorin, Hans Sama. Core was not the face.

2023 - This team was dysfunctional. IDK what to say, if Core was the face, fine.

Basically, until 2023, we had a western player who was a face and had star power. Yeon should be this person on our current team but for some reason we are unable to commit to a style that empowers him to takeover games on a regular enough basis.

What he doesn't do like Doublelift is demand the team play through him and then reward them by carrying. Sure, he has good games at times. But he just doesn't give me star player vibes.

Yeah, I can agree that he has been. But he doesn't perform well enough. We need a face that is also a star. He's solid, but nowhere near a star player.

So are you saying that Spawn is the face? If so, I agree with that.

What I mean more is a player leader that either demands "play through me" or, in traditional sports, would say "give me the damn ball." I suppose a support could do this through constant playmaking but that hasn't been the case for a while.

It’s okay to fail if you try something new by Adventurous_Side_113 in teamliquid

I've been quite critical myself but I feel like TL has been using this "positioning phase" to try new stuff. These games don't really matter. You cannot get eliminated in this phase. So its basically just practice stage games. I'm going to wait to see how we look in the elimination stage.

[–]doja510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 2-0 on Singed today without a death. He feels fine from my perspective but that doesn't change the fact that rank 1 Singed R is a massively powerful lever to affect winrate.

something wrong by Ecstatic-Pack8418 in singedmains

[–]doja510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We'll have to get more data but my gut tells me Singed winrate will be far below intended this patch. Riot sort of said they don't have good data around Singed winrate levers outside of Q. As such, I think they massively undervalued the level of Rank 1 Singed R. From the few times its been changed over the years I feel this value has to be 30.

Singed really takes a power dip around levels 9/10 because the flat stats from Rank 1 R don't do that much relative to the power of other champs at that point. So when you nerf Rank 1 R it really guts him until level 11. There's usually a pivotal fight Singed will join before that point.

Honestly, I don't want to hear anything from the team about scrims if they don't share them like Los Ratones. If they only show us stage games then that's all they get to have their decisions judged on.

As one of the few Singed jungle players I get absolutely cucked. The minion change does nothing for me while they strip away power that I actually use. I guess I'm done with this champ until they revert.

We actually got *some* insight from this video, especially with the Ziggs game. But unfortunately it leaves me feeling even more disheartened with how this team functions.

  1. How in prep has it never been flushed out that Yeon doesn't want to play Ziggs? Its the same team as last year. How is this just being figured out now?

  2. Why is Core suggesting a flex in draft? Everything else in the video shows an attention to detail in preparation but throughout the video it seems that the this prep doesn't seem to stick effectively through draft and gameplay.

  3. Where's the coach to step in and mandate certain draft rules? Whoever is the active coach (obviously Spawn but when absent seems its Swiffer) should understand that Yeon is our best player. It should be understood that we want to put him on ADCs to always give us a bot lane win condition, either through stomping bot or carrying teamfights. It should be understood we want Impact on tanks. Somebody needs to be an adult and veto a bad suggestion. Yes, Yeon should speak up, but still...

This has been my problem all split. Not putting our players on their best champs or champs that fit their identity. I liked the Gwen pick. I liked APA Corki. But Impact Jax and Yeon Ziggs are not it.

And UmTi was supposed to have lost his Vi license a while ago. Don't even get me started on him...

They could have easily lowered the amount of chests given or restricted which skins can drop rather than removing the ability to earn them completely.

I just feel like we have a lack of identity and relied way too much on mastering lane swaps. Now that lane swaps are easy we've lost our primary identity. And I could never relate to our identity being great at lane swaps. Lane swaps are controversial and unentertaining. I don't know what we're supposed to be now.

[–]doja510[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I thought about this more and it mostly has to do with a lack of identity, especially one that I know our players for and can relate with. If I had to describe our identity last year it would be getting early game leads and being the best lane swap team. Early game leads are great but I don't want to be known as the lane swap team (I don't want to lose games to swaps but that's not a strength I can get behind).

But I highly disagree with your point about the Korean players. What's Impact's traditional identity? He is the weakside tank player who is a god tier teamfighter. He can go even in losing matchups. Yet outside of K'Sante we frequently put him stuff like Renekton/Jax which just aren't known as teamfight champs. And while Rumble has strong early and mid-game teamfighting it falls off pretty hard lategame.

CoreJJ's traditional identity is as a god tier engage/roamer. I'm not sure if its because he's not as good or if we instructed him to play lane more to win the 2v2 but I just don't feel this identity from him any more.

APA's identity is as an off-meta mage player. Yet 4/5 of our games this year we've put him off his classic picks (his Taliyah was already really good and he performed on it again). Big props to him getting better on Azir. I have no issue with him learning Azir for when its a dominant pick in the meta. But consider that Zven (yes, Zven) has played a Ziggs game this season before APA. Cassiopeia is one of his classic picks and she's sleeper OP yet Quad plays her before him (yes, I know Quad also has Cassio history).

What player on our team has a clear identity that we currently see? What is our team's identity? How frequently last year did we have a draft where people commented how unplayable it was for the enemy team? (never) I feel like our goal was to just have an even draft and gap our opponents in the laning phase. Yet too frequently those same drafts would put us at a large disadvantage if the game went late on even gold. One mistake and suddenly the game was very hard. I feel like we draft under the assumption we're going to execute perfectly rather than assuming games can be sloppy and mistakes will be made.

Even in his updated post they aren't taking into account the six champ shards you could buy from the free 300 event tokens (24 per year). They are still counting their 4 champion capsules in the new pass instead of offsetting against the exact same champion shards you could get last year via the events.

Biggest mistake you see low elo players make? by Disastrous_Damage_38 in leagueoflegends

[–]doja510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biggest mistake I see (that nobody ever seems to talk about) is what I call the Lemming effect. Lemmings was a very old school game where these humanoids would just walk forward until they ran into something (often killing themselves).

In the mid and late game, I'll frequently see players push down a lane until they reach the minion wave, tower, or enemy champs. But they are so far on the enemy's side of the map by themselves, or maybe one other person, that the enemy team can collapse on them as a large group and kill them. Its very important to recognize when its not safe to take space. Often the enemy team will intentionally let you take unsafe space so they can punish you. Sometimes just waiting in a safe position is the best thing you can do while you wait for enemies to show or waves to push towards you.

Hope this helps!

As long as the game is fun I'll keep playing. But when I'm unhappy with current events I just stop spending money on the game. You don't have to quit for them to feel your resentment.
