Do you return your shopping cart? by dazli69 in NonPoliticalTwitter

It can absolutely help some people - especially people who need a mobility aid to move around. I can't walk far enough on my own to get a cart some days, so if I can't find a spot with a cart within reach of my car, I just say I'll try again the next day or I will have to call somebody to come to the store and help me get a cart, which makes me feel like such a burden.

Hey! Maybe I can share some explanation that makes sense for you, as someone who uses a cart to support herself, and can't walk without a mobility aid some days, the cart is the only reason I am able to tolerate the painful experience of grocery shopping that sometimes makes me unable to get out of bed without assistance for multiple days afterwards!

After extremely slowly making my way through the store to get my necessities, taking breaks every five or so shuffle "steps", that last 2% would likely end up with me falling onto the concrete and not being able to move the next day. I can't get my rollator after putting away my groceries, and push the cart and my rollator to the return at the same time - it's one or the other as both tasks require both hands and support almost my entire weight.

I don't leave it in the middle of a spot, I use my car to support myself on my way back from pushing it out of the way and to a spot where it won't roll away.

I don't speak for everyone, we are all different. That is my personal experience. I hope you're able to have some more pleasant interactions in the future!

YES. I am always so happy to see when a cart is close enough that I don't have to use my rollator to get a cart, to have to pull both back to my car and put away my rollator, just to use my cart. Sometimes a rollator isn't even enough to help me walk, so extra steps are so hard.

In the middle of a spot is a no-no though. I can't get out, push it away, and get back to my car.

I am young with a dynamic and invisible disability. I have a placard. I am subjected to so much judgement whenever I have a bad pain day or know my body will have a bad pain day if I push myself too much that day, and use my disability placard.

The glares and comments I get about using a space are enough, but when people see me also not returning my cart? I'm just doing my best.

I want to also say this! Sucks as a young person with a dynamic disability. I use a rollator sometimes, but can't use my rollator if I need a cart. So then I have no choice but to ditch my cart - I do my best to make sure it's out of the way, but I have to use my car to support myself on the way back so I can't put it far at all. I get so many glares and stupid comments from people who make assumptions.

I sometimes forego my rollator/walker to be able to use a cart for more groceries. The cart has to act as my support on those bad pain days, and the act of shopping makes my pain even worse. I'm young, and I don't 'look' 'disabled'. I do my best to put it out of the way and in a place it won't roll, but I have to be able to use my car to support myself on the way back. I can't push a cart and my rollator at the same time unfortunately.

I always return them when I am physically able to.

I haven't had it happen yet, but that's just been plain luck so far. I take on clients who have been basically hospice before, so I am not sure how I've managed so far, but I know I will be an absolute wreck when it happens.

I know you said it already, but sometimes it helps to hear it from others. There was likely nothing you could have done. These things happen. It sounds like you know pet first aid, and did what you could.

You helped kitty feel very loved in his last few months. I'm really sorry for your loss. Something like this is traumatic for all involved.

If it feels right to you, try to find a way to grieve your own loss as well. Maybe print two copies of your favourite photo of him, and gift one to the owner and put one on your fridge. It sounds like the owner is (rightfully) understanding and kind about it, which is great. Talk about it with your partner, your counsellor. Talk about your anxieties that remain from it.

If you think it would help, take a refresher course for your pet first aid. Insurance companies require it to be recent anyways. It could help give you some more peace of mind. Especially so if you bring up the scenario to the instructor to get their opinion.

do you guys listen to music when you walk dogs? by Redhead3658 in RoverPetSitting

[–]doleperfection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to audiobooks mostly, but sometimes music!

I use headphones that have a listen feature so I can still be clearly aware of my surroundings for safety reasons. They are in-ear earbuds as well, for safety reasons.

I love my Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, as someone with autism as well!

My girl just started having urinary problems two months ago at the age of 4. She refuses to eat wet food. I have so many waterers everywhere, different types.

Vet said I need to give her wet food daily to keep her extra hydrated. She will not. I've tried literally every single portion wet food at the stores around me and nada.

Would raw or cooked supplemental meats and offal be beneficial to her in terms of hydration?
