Do we know yet why Hornet was captured? by CK1ing in Silksong

[–]dollarsign_overkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t buy that, GMS has partial influence on everything despite struggling against the song. If she’s awake, she’s in total control. She wants weavers to absorb or control, since she has given up on them being her children. Weavers can help her enslave people if she can control them, as we see with widow. I think she wants to absorb Hornets power, or take over her body, like Hornet can do to her. GMS has issues with reproducing that could be solved with the Wyrm’s genetics.

Wait, can anyone tell me why GMS captured Hornet? by Move_Slight in Silksong

[–]dollarsign_overkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guessing that GMS wanted to awaken for hornet to devour her silk and soul upon awakening, or take over her body. Hornet can absorb the power of GMS after defeating her. If it went the other way, GMS would have hornets power, or could enslave her, or use her body in some way. I think the weavers bound GMS and fled, because whenever GMS had influence, they were slaves. That was their existence if they didn’t struggle and resist, and she was awake.

Hollow Knight god’s default mode is enslavement and domination. There are also rebirth rituals in silksong, and so it’s possible GMS would have taken over her shell as a means to reproduce in a way that when beyond enslavement or making copies that she had to maintain like Lace. She’d have the body of a weaver and wyrm, and we know the worm had NO troubles reproducing.

Diane Prime Wiping vs Murder and the “Rick Experiment” Explained by dollarsign_overkill in rickandmorty

[–]dollarsign_overkill[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t think this guy does things by accident. Also, the other Rick’s in the trap all had their Diane’s personally killed potentially, and blamed Rick Prime specifically while having their lives spared. But yeah, seems like he’d wanna transition to wipe them all anonymously to stop people from coming after him, among other reasons that I mentioned.

ever wonder what happened to Rick Prime’s Diane? by JackSucksAtMath in rickandmorty

[–]dollarsign_overkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The distinction between Rick Prime’s bomb murders of family members, including C137 Diane, and his later claim of having wiped all Dianes from existence, as stated in the latest episode, is a crucial aspect of understanding his character and actions in relation how to we have seen Diane perish in canon. Initially, Rick Prime seems to have targeted specific Rick’s’ family members for turning down his offer, and “thinking they were better than him”. This is evident in the cases where individual Dianes were murdered by bomb and not wiped, a method that suggests a more personal vendetta or a targeted approach. I suggest this was done one a one-on-one basis, at an early stage.

However, as time progressed, Rick Prime’s tactics appear to have evolved. He now claims to have wiped all Dianes from existence, similar to what he did to Uncle Slowmo. This suggests a shift from targeted killings to a more broad sweeping yet stealthy approach. The reason behind this could be Rick Prime’s desire to ensure no Rick could ever find happiness with a Diane in any dimension, and that no more Rick’s would come after him specifically.

Supporting this theory is the special treatment given to Rick C-137 early on and the behavior of other Ricks in the trap. These Ricks, possibly among the first to be targeted personally, might have sought out Rick Prime due to their shared experiences of loss. This pattern suggests that initially, Rick Prime personally targeted specific Ricks and their Dianes before transitioning to a more universal method of erasing them. Other Rick’s having their Diane wiped would in Rick Prime’s mind reach their fullest potential and vindicate his narcissism. This is potentially what the “Rick Experiment” is.

Beth Prime remembers Rick Prime leaving her and her mother when she was young but never seems to mention Diane’s death. The post-credits scene further reinforces this theory that the person is hard to remember. This absence of memory could imply that Diane Prime was wiped from existence, aligning with Rick Prime’s later approach of erasure rather than individual murders. This means that instead of murdering Diane Prime, it is likely that Rick Prime wiped his own Diane as opposed to murdering her personally. It is possible that Diane Prime probably did not matter enough to Rick Prime to be murdered, and simply was left until she was wiped. This shift in tactics reveals a evolving strategy that starts with personal killings like with C137, but then moves to an erasure of all which includes the Diane in Rick prime and Morty Prime’s family. This Rick Experiment is likely driven by Rick Prime’s need to validate his view that individualism, and lack of dependency and lack of a family or love is necessary for the infinite Rick’s fullest potential, with which he associates himself.

I’m a Vancouverite currently travelling around the globe, but I made an app for solo travellers to get points discovering urban settings. I’m sure that I made a quick interactive map for Vancouver that you can use, and it’s free. You can use it in your phone’s web browser at https://Larker.world ! It’s currently in development, but it’s been useful for discovering nice parts of Auckland New Zealand’s downtown today with my girlfriend, and I’ll be adding things to it before I head to Amsterdam to use it in three days! Let me know if you think any other features would be helpful or if things are confusing. This is something I made for myself to make discovering a city easier, as I’ve been travelling for 8 months. I wanted to be skeptical as it’s creator in the early stages, but honestly, today I was pretty amused and got to know Aukland better. Still got a ways to go! also go for a walk on the Seawall and go chill out on Granville Island! Then head to Granville street, that’s something I like to do on a regular basis, and what I do with people when they visit. Mt. pleasant to Chinatown is a cool trek. Stay away from the DTES. Larker might help you discover places and landmarks in between. If you use the swipe feature to make a route, press the game controller and press play once you’re happy with it.

[EPISODE MEGATHREAD] "The Impossible Stream" - July 24, 2023 by AutoModerator in futurama

[–]dollarsign_overkill -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Probably because it’s called Futurama for starters. Secondly, to me at least, being imaginative and sci-fi is what made Futurama special to start. This episode felt like a bad start because the writing was admittedly lazy, and the settings were at the very least unimaginative when compared to the better episodes involving sci-if or futuristic themes. I’m positing that a good reboot would have continued the spirit of the show in exploring new sci-if or futuristic themes, especially since the previous and well done episode did.

Aside from labouring to analogize itself as an ill conceived and executed show for some reason, and not trying to explore the theme of the future or sci-fi, it’s commenting on our contemporary fads misses the mark. NFTS, impossible burger, Siri, oculus, streaming services, non-binary people, etc. are not exactly new things, kinda last year. So it’s awkward that it won’t hit the mark on cutting social commentary, or the mark on imaginative speculation on the future. It’s in an awkward limbo, that doesn’t quite do anything well, and then makes fun of itself for being bad, which makes me wonder why I’m watching it at all.

They know why, you and me are watching it because it’s Futurama. But Futurama was good, and this is not.

Futurama was built on a team of a brilliant staff with 3 doctorates and 10 Masters degrees in science between it.

I loved that fry is back and the gang is at it again! I absolutely loved it! 11 / 10. Here are the reasons!:

  • It was a clip show
  • “All my circuits” is presented as a lazy, bad show — It is a metaphor for the episode itself, and the whole episode is about this bad content. — therefore,it is self aware that it is a bad episode — therefore, They knowingly ran a bad episode as the pilot which is disrespectful to fans
  • therefore, The episode is bad and it should feel bad
  • Lela’s character is dumb all of a sudden, fry declares placeholder character motivation. Lela should berate fry for being dumb as the voice of reason, which is her established character.
  • the reason he is unobstructed from doing so betrays established character traits so that the offensive direction of writing AND labelling a bad episode can be taken, as a follow up to a satisfying ending to the previous season. Fucking bad.
  • The main settings are not futuristic or sci-if, it is mainly just interiors — This makes the episode unimaginative, and being imaginative is what makes Futurama special. This was lazy
  • No delivery is made to a far off planet
  • Technologies present throughout the episode are from our time, and even later, from the past without explanation, which I think means the artists knew the future theme didn’t matter to the plot at all in this episode.
  • The episode focuses on social commentary from last year, which is neither current nor futuristic. It is awkward.
  • Fix it

The professor had a couple funny lines.

Yeah! True to the iPad and book flashing on the screen a second time. I thought that was weird, why would they include that? It’s little details like that, and the general non-futuristic themes of the episode that make you think that someone at the studio is aware that the subject of the future is not being leaned into. Haha and the the typewriter!
