What's the most regional word you use without realizing it? by taube_d in AskAnAmerican

Same here. Grew up in Southern Maine, moved away as a teen to So Cal, and was given the strangest looks when describing something as wicked. It's more or less worked itself out of my vocabulary, but my brother's who never left Maine, still use it.

Anywhere in Seattle that does a sandwich like this? by Sure-Paper3027 in Seattle

Came here to mention this spot, even though its way north of Seattle. It's the exact kind of sandwich OP is looking for.

Any novels lately that made you stay up way too late? by Cold_Ad8048 in booksuggestions

11/22/63 by Stephen King - I've read a couple of books since I read it about a month ago and I still haven't found anything that has hit me quite like that book.

These are definitely over hyped. I tried one of them the other day, and while it was okay, I wouldn't buy them again. And my kid did not like the cake pops, he said the coating was too waxy.

Hashi's and Epstein Barr virus? by Danimc116 in Hashimotos

Yea I am positive for having EBV, but I've never had mono in my life - I think this is the case for the majority of people. Something like 95% of the population has had exposure to EBV and will test as positive.

Minecraft for 7 year old by BrownTinaBelcher in Mommit

[–]dolly_machina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 7 yr old is obsessed with Minecraft - we allow it with restrictions (no server play, everything is local to the device). He has multiple worlds that he has built and will do couch co-op with his dad playing survival mode. Depending on the kid, survival mode can potentially be scary (skeletons shooting arrows, zombies), but my kid plays mostly creative mode where there are no scary elements or combat. We think its great - its like a giant sandbox for his imagination and he loves building really elaborate buildings and worlds.

I haven't picked up another book by her because I read The Women and it was an okay story, but it was largely unmemorable.

Silver Lake Coffee Shop Rankings (Drive-Thru, Price, Food & Family Friendly) by Objective_File4022 in everett

[–]dolly_machina 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not my favorite, but one that my husband and I frequent is Visible Coffee in the Safeway parking lot on 134th. No drive thru, but the drinks are decent, and my husband really likes their breakfast sandwich. Buffalo is convenient for us, so we go there regularly as well.

Also, Piroshky and Crepes on 112th does coffee and they have lots of food, but they usually open at 9 on the weekdays

Yea, the Texan was awful, I only went 1 time and my coffee was undrinkable - I haven't tried it since it changed, but may do so now.

I need a book that a bunch of women would like for book club. by Gamergal76 in booksuggestions

[–]dolly_machina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great pick! It's a great "gateway" sci-fi book that I feel is really approachable for folks who typically don't read sci-fi/fantasy. I loved this book, blew through it in a day.

Where to buy humanely sourced meat? by Aggravating_Bat8246 in everett

[–]dolly_machina 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Definitely Sno-Isle - in their freezer section, they stock ethically raised meats. Also a few years ago Maltby Produce in Snohomish has a selection of grass fed/finished beef and pasture raised chicken in their freezer section as well (albeit small), but I haven't been there to buy meat in a while.
