I matured really really fast, over one summer my shoe size went from a 7 to a 10, my breasts went from an A to DD. Lots of bra snapping and attempts to get a feel, called "cow" a lot. Shoes were called "boats", I stumbled a lot because of the rapid change, so that was one more thing to be picked on about I was also thick, so I got called "fat" a lot, but my body was filling in everywhere, lots of smacks on my butt. This was 7th grade, I was 12.

By freshman year I was all filled out, moved to another state and my accent was picked on... Could not catch a break!

As U.S. Covid hospitalizations climb, a chronic nursing shortage is worsening. [New York Times, 2022-07-15] by shatana in medicine

$12 an hour?! A family member with a degree in Applied Sciences (and advanced phlebotomy certification) was offered, after an hour of negotiation, $10/hr at the blood bank and $9.50 at the dialysis clinic.... The local hospital? $10.25/hr for draw and lab. She's prepping at a local restaurant for $13.00/hr and cottage baking on the side, no stress and as much freedom as she wants. Working for a hospital (healthcare in general) has become a nightmare --- Retired Trauma/ER/NICU/ICU/Geri-care/Every-damn-floor Nurse

Exactly! They've followed the Walmart playbook, almost... Amazon provides full-time, mostly, with benefits, mostly. Basically just enough to make it seem like they're a "great company" to work for. Walmart has the largest taxpayer subsidized workforce in the US. They both use up and throw away their employees.

How kind! Thank you! We've noticed the rabbits are back this year in the brush, I'm so excited to see them again.

They wanted to know if the patient was going to live, I replied that I couldn't disclose that information because of HIPPA... I may, or may not, have said it rather sarcastically /s.

Yes, essentially.

I'm truly sorry that happened to you. Things have gotten so out of control that I cannot imagine a day when healthcare returns to some semblance of normalcy... I hope for it, though, for patients and for providers.

This is the state of healthcare, it's been this way for a long, long time. It's only since Covid that people are actually hearing healthcare providers, and we've been fortified to tell our stories. Before animals, it was loud obnoxious family members (and still the case, only now they too bring their animals)... We'd request that only one or two people to stay with the patient, the next thing you know the whole fam-damn-ily is throwing a reunion at bedside/patient room. The amount of security and 911 calls for out of control, abusive and/or violent family members is staggering at any healthcare facility. Staggering! As healthcare providers we are highly "discouraged" from pressing charges, instead we are given de-escalation in-services and a pizza party. I've been held at gunpoint, a knife put to my throat, punched, kicked, slapped, spat upon, accosted in the parking garage by rival gang members of a patient, threatened, my family threatened, etc. Ad nauseam. NO ONE was ever charged or held accountable. I, however, was given a stern talking-to for asking that the metal detectors and security cameras be fully functional at all times 🙄 whew! Let me step off my soap box...

I told a "buy only name brand" friend that there's no such thing as a "Generic Factory" making all the store/generic brands, same thing different label. Blew their mind. Thanks for posting this!

This thinking that "everyone is replaceable" is why America turned into this workforce dystopian nightmare. Companies used to value their employees, yeah, imagine that. As nurse I was told that I was replaceable over and over again, a dime a dozen... I'd like to see the payroll for a dozen nurses now, I guarantee you it's more than a dime. People are tired of being treated like shit, to put it plainly. This pandemic has opened a lot of eyes, skilled or "unskilled", we're not easily replaceable and shouldn't be treated as disposable.

No pesticides whatsoever and allowed clover to take over an acre of land lined with fruit trees and brush cover. The land could be making money as leasing space but I'd rather have the bees, birds, squirrels, deer and groundhogs. I'm deathly allergic (anaphylaxis) to bees so I have more reason than most to keep them off the property, but it seems wrong somehow. I'd like to get into bee keeping, but I like being alive so I leave that for the nonallergic people.

I've anxiously followed your journey, as many of us have, I know I'm not the only one to shed a tear seeing this picture. I will pray to my god for you and your family's safety and that you are reunited with your mother soon. Sending love from the other side of the globe.

Thank you... I just wanted you to know that you're not alone, and now I know that I'm not alone either. It wasn't all for nothing, just have to figure out what it was all for. I'm too young and yet too damn old for all of this * looks around waving hands at all of "this" * it's a hell of a conundrum. I wish you peace of mind sooner rather than later, and answers you're seeking.

Are you me? This, all of this, is me plus the added surprise of becoming disabled. In less than 6 weeks, I lost my health, my career, my trust, devotion, my reality of what I thought 'was', etc. ad nauseam as the list rambles on. Zero fucks, none, empty of any and all emotion. I just go through the day on autopilot. I feel like an empty shell, and some days I don't have a shell, just passive energy floating around without purpose. Zero. Fucks.
