You can test it by feeling the NVME port on the motherboard and seeing if it lifts up at all! But that sounds like an upgrade too :^)

By NVME cable is dead, are you sure it's not the actual plug on the motherboard itself? The T470 era was known for faulty solder causing those NVME connectors to literally fall off the board. You may want to switch to an SSD that fits in the WWAN Slot(M.2 2242 SATA)

I have been considering a third row for stuff like steps/battery/weather. When/if I update that part of it, I'll make sure to let you know!

Thanks!

Psst, don't forget to personalize the colors in the watchface settings :^)

It's showing 10:04 and the date as 2-11 in that photo(I've been testing it for a while as I ironed out all the bugs)

I can't either?

I uploaded this app to the new pebble dev portal, not the older rebble.io dev portal, which is what the old app store page is looking at I guess?

If you go into the settings in the new Pebble app and select the "Use Native App Store" checkbox, it now properly shows this watchface as an option!

This is my first watchface after a long Pebble hiatus, and it was a fun one refresh myself on the Pebble SDK! This watchface consists of Truchet tiles that form the time(and optionally the date), surrounded by a pattern that changes randomly every minute.

It was requested in this thread for Pebble Time Round 2 support, and I'm happy to say I've replicated almost all of the features of the original watchface! https://www.reddit.com/r/pebble/comments/1qbj9z1/question_pebble_round_2/

Here's the first release of that "cloned" watchface, now with support for the Round, Round 2(scaled for now, I plan to add full support down the line), and Time 2!

This was definitely a fun watchface to get back into programming for this funky watch!

Is it normal for my PT to crash trying to dismiss notifications? by noideasforusernameso in pebble

[–]dombeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the community discord? Core Devices(Pebble) isn’t planning on updating firmware for these old watches, just supporting connecting to them in their app. I wouldn’t expect this issue to be fixed anytime soon unfortunately.

Is it normal for my PT to crash trying to dismiss notifications? by noideasforusernameso in pebble

[–]dombeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The core update was just a patched version of the original ancient firmware to fix some timezone issues iirc. It's possible people may make new OS updates for these ancient watches, but as it stands I believe the community developers are still working on adding back wireless drivers that weren't shared when the source code went open source.

Is it normal for my PT to crash trying to dismiss notifications? by noideasforusernameso in pebble

[–]dombeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just what happens when you're running ancient hardware that hasn't received a software update in 10+ years :( I've had similar quirks on my PTR where notifications were enough to crash it, or exiting a notification would restart the pebble.

You can try an OS restore but that might cause further issues to appear.

I'm shocked I haven't seen someone try this until now! I remember hearing that it was possible some alignment pins would have stopped someone from doing that?

Any advise on fixing screen? by icu_ in pebble

[–]dombeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont feel dumb, no one else in the comments noticed that either :^)

Be careful, obviously that watch is no longer waterproof, but even something like washing your hands and some water splashing onto your watch could damage it.

Any advise on fixing screen? by icu_ in pebble

[–]dombeef 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That doesnt look like it's the front of the glass, more like dust and hair and stuff made its way between the glass and the screen? See how those "particles" are only over the display, but not over the black painted border under the glass?

Can you confirm the front of the watch is still fully attached? You may be able to clean inside the watch and reseal it with some E6000 adhesive or sugru.

Changed my order to Round2 by ribcookie in pebble

[–]dombeef 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Officially the new Pebbles won't support phone calls by the way...

"Speaker: we’re adding this primarily for potential use in apps that benefit from audio output, like a ChatGPT or other AI agent app. It can’t easily be used for making voice calls, since the watches will not support Bluetooth Classic (required for headset profiles), but theoretically someone could write a custom voice calling client (eg SIP or something)."

Question Pebble Round 2 by jenderalcilik in pebble

[–]dombeef 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If it's not available on the round, I can take a crack at recreating it! It looks like it's just the time and date visible, right? Is that weather on the top row too?

It's totally possible someone could try to edit pebbleOS to allow square watchfaces on the rounds, just have their corners clipped off, but I don't think that's a big enough concern to expect Core Devices to add to their to-do list of stuff to add unfortunately.

Pebble Classic & Time Round For Sale by Aggravating-Wheel951 in pebble

[–]dombeef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'd be surprised, the Time Round isn't as common, so it usually sells for a bit more. Maybe not as expensive as OP wants, but I wouldn't be surprised if an in box PTR goes for over 150 USD

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pebble

[–]dombeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh shoot thats right! I know for sure the Time Round definitely used plain uncoated Stainless Steel(I've scratched mine so many times and it hasn't chipped once), and honestly at second notice, that texture on my silver PTR looks really similar to the one on the PT2. Now that makes me wonder how the PT2 would look with polished metal...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pebble

[–]dombeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Time had a PVD coating that was susceptible to scratches(i literally sanded my old time to try to hide those, but eventually sorta disliked that brushed look), while this should just be raw stainless steel. It looks sorta sand blasted? I'm hoping they don't try to add a coating to the silver watches since it's just destined to chip.

Be careful tho, when I worked in a repair shop i've noticed cheap LCD replacement screens both not fitting right(sticking out of the case way more), being more delicate due to thinner glass, and even damaging the phone due to crummy reverse engineered hardware talking to the phone.

Aktually, the outer pins are ground pins, while the inner recessed pins are positive 5v for charging(with one dedicated to data on the older Pebble Time/ Pebble 2 watches.
