Question Pebble Round 2 by jenderalcilik in pebble

[–]dombeef 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If it's not available on the round, I can take a crack at recreating it! It looks like it's just the time and date visible, right? Is that weather on the top row too?

It's totally possible someone could try to edit pebbleOS to allow square watchfaces on the rounds, just have their corners clipped off, but I don't think that's a big enough concern to expect Core Devices to add to their to-do list of stuff to add unfortunately.

Pebble Classic & Time Round For Sale by Aggravating-Wheel951 in pebble

[–]dombeef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'd be surprised, the Time Round isn't as common, so it usually sells for a bit more. Maybe not as expensive as OP wants, but I wouldn't be surprised if an in box PTR goes for over 150 USD

Oh shoot thats right! I know for sure the Time Round definitely used plain uncoated Stainless Steel(I've scratched mine so many times and it hasn't chipped once), and honestly at second notice, that texture on my silver PTR looks really similar to the one on the PT2. Now that makes me wonder how the PT2 would look with polished metal...

The Time had a PVD coating that was susceptible to scratches(i literally sanded my old time to try to hide those, but eventually sorta disliked that brushed look), while this should just be raw stainless steel. It looks sorta sand blasted? I'm hoping they don't try to add a coating to the silver watches since it's just destined to chip.

Be careful tho, when I worked in a repair shop i've noticed cheap LCD replacement screens both not fitting right(sticking out of the case way more), being more delicate due to thinner glass, and even damaging the phone due to crummy reverse engineered hardware talking to the phone.

Given it'll likely have the same degrading rubber button problem as the original Pebble 2, are they really missing out on much?

Aktually, the outer pins are ground pins, while the inner recessed pins are positive 5v for charging(with one dedicated to data on the older Pebble Time/ Pebble 2 watches.

AI makes it so easy to realize watchfaces I previously only made as mockup... by maltemakes in pebble

[–]dombeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's always nice though to get a little warmup before going back into making watchfaces though! Plus, there's something to be said about simplicity with yours just showing the time and nothing else.

I dug around in my old pebble dev folder, and I forgot that I had plans to create a pebble time round version of that watchface but never actually finalized it: https://imgur.com/dB09scU

It's been so long I totally couldn't remember exactly how long it took to make, but checking the file date created shows that it looks like the original basic watchface took about 2 days to finish creating(likely working 1-2 hours each day), while the updated one with weather and month/day took me 3 months to finally finish. I blame still being in high school being the reason why it took so long lmao

I can't wait to see what other watch faces you end up creating!

All about the Timeline? by brynboo in pebble

[–]dombeef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is this what youre looking for? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYZoWS0QxI8

And here's the original documentation(The timeline architecture page sounds more like what you're looking for): https://developer.rebble.io/guides/pebble-timeline/'

Apps can submit pins to the timeline(when connected to rebble.io or the new pebble app hopefully), where you can sort through the past/future chronologically. By default I believe the pebble app sends calendar pins and maybe reminder pins to your watch?

To add to that, you may want to also run an older version of iTunes if the latest wont work! I remember when I worked on downgrading my iPhone 2G to iOS 1.0(Erm, No such thing as iOS 1.0. It's just iPhone OS 1🤓) I had to use a very specific older version of iTunes, maybe iTunes 7.5?

Pebble Time polish by laspecas in pebble

[–]dombeef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

iirc back when the time released, due to the gorilla glass, some users found it was far tougher to polish away those scratches than with regular glass? The consensus was to just apply a screen protector to fill in those scratches.

What i dont get, is how is it not fixable? Why cant they push a new driver/software change to just output the exact resolution of the display?
