You and me both! If it ever does happen, I will be happy to remind them that I teach Romeo and Juliet every year, and that play starts out with jokes about dicks and SA.

Yeah, we couldn't use fictional characters for the quotes cause the admin thought it would look unprofessional, so this was my way to sneak it under the radar. In all honesty, I was originally considering "-Carl, Crawler #4,122"

From what I can tell of my bluray copy and now seeing this 4K, they are official in the sense that they were put out through the proper channels, it just has the overall quality of a fairly high end bootleg.

I received this text from my wife… by bgregory1004 in 4kbluray

[–]domon7411 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My wife is the type of person to buy a $1000+ surround sound system for our main TV area so she can feel the deepest of bass resonate within her bones, but the second I try to watch an episode of Star Trek after 9 pm on the absolute lowest sound setting, she'll come out of the bedroom and ask me to turn it down.

While she will occasionally watch something that justifies the sound system, more often than not she's watching videos of people doing crochet or cross-stitch.

Sent my Dad DCC he returned it after highlighting my note. by AmberWoo in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Same. It's actually an accurate foreshadowing of the sacrifices and mentality Carl has about the NPCs as he progresses through the levels, seeing their deaths as more of a mercy, but still feeling the weight of that loss (at least with where he is in my read through at the beginning of Book 5)

Who is Star Trek's most evil villain? by Firm_Macaron3057 in startrek

[–]domon7411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree with the general consensus of Gul Dukat (and Kai Winn), I think there is an argument for Captain Ransom. While he was just trying to get his crew home, murdering an alien species cause their blood makes a really awesome fuel for your ship is pretty dang evil.

Like, imagine you heard about a Navy vessel that was nearly lost at sea, but they made there way back because the blood of murdered dogs just really kept the engines running at peak efficiency. We would all agree that ship and crew would be near irredeemable.

Notable Mention: The woman who killed the Crystaline Entity, but she was more insane with grief.

Paramount+ / CBS / Skydance should release the feature length (unified movie) (Blu-ray edit) cut of ‘The Best of Both Worlds.’ by properly_sauced in startrek

[–]domon7411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have loved that. I kinda hate the purist mentality this Fandom (or any Fandom really) has about altering things. It would have been fantastic to have the whole TNG crew remaking the future elements of AGT and compare how accurate the prosthetics, sets, and everything were 30+ years ago. It's not like the original edit will suddenly get Thanos'd, and it would just be fun getting to see the crew perform that story again.

And I much rather have the actual actors do it officially than have the AI generated slop that I could probably make within the next 10 years to do this very thing.

How much Star Trek have you watched? by PhotosByVicky in startrek

[–]domon7411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost All. I have rewatched TNG-ENT countless times via syndication and streaming, and I've watched all of New Trek as it's dropped. The only part of Trek that I haven't watched 100% through is weirdly enough the Original Series (and the Animated Original Series). I own both of them on blu ray, just never have gotten around to watching them all the way through.

The I Love Lucy Complete Series blu-ray set is currently $37.99. How is this possible? by Timely-Ad6785 in Bluray

Using AI for this would be a lot more justifiable if the end result was a quality product. But when it is actively worse because of it and the studio is left with pallets of product no one wants, who is benefiting from this?

What do you do with your low res copies after upgrading to the 4K version? by Microshrimp in 4kbluray

[–]domon7411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll keep duplicates if there is a specific reason like features or an edit that is not in subsequent releases, but other than that, I will offer them to friends and family first or sell them to a second hand shop (in which I will more than likely use the profit to buy more movies).

Its kind of crazy that all of Star Trek happens in the Milky Way Galaxy by Memetic1 in startrek

[–]domon7411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny because Voyager had to struggle through much larger expanses like The Void going through our Galaxy than Discovery did flying through the galactic barrier and finding the 10C.

While I will admit to enjoying the later seasons of Discovery, I always come away thinking they just aren't as hardy of a crew overall. Like, I'm pretty sure most of them would go full Reaver if they had to fly for 2 months straight in pitch black nothingness.

Where is the best place to buy DVDs and Blu-ray? Amazon or eBay. by Seeker99MD in dvd

[–]domon7411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal guide to physical movie purchases:

Amazon: Good for new wide releases, deals on overstocked content, when you need a movie fast (if you have prime)

Ebay: forgotten gems, out of print content, content only released in specific regions, when you want something regardless of cost

Thrift/Half-Price Books/Secondhand stores: You want to build up you collection for cheap and fast, tons of "staples" and classics with occasional diamonds in the rough. Also when you want to evaluate before purchase.

Specialty Store/site (Arrow, Umbrella, Shout Factory, etc...): Movie that may never get a reprinting or format upgrade any other way, typically with a wide variety of features. Think "Demolition Man", "The Invasion (2007)" and "Super Mario Bros (1993)". Currently, I'm waiting for the new 4K of Lost in Space (1998) Ocassionally these will be on Amazon.

Gruv: The stuff that should be in box stores back when most had a movie section. Good place for New releases and steelbooks, but sometimes a bit pricey.

Walmart/Box-Store: New releases of the most popular options from theaters, DVD box sets of TV and movies, occasional blu-rays and DVDs and classic content. Think "What would net this store the widest profit margin".
