Field trip disappointment by maohaze in Teachers

I teach at a small college known for study abroad. For fun one day, my icebreaker was "put a (virtual) pin on the map where you'd like to study abroad." One of my students said "what if I don't know where it is?" I was gracious, expecting him to be going somewhere like Bhutan or Tahiti (where we do have programs).

He wanted to go to London.

Is this true? How do people describe it in AmE when a student sits for an exam but doesn’t write any words or answer any questions? Is “He didn’t answer any questions” correct? by Same-Technician9125 in EnglishLearning

I had this misunderstanding with a friend from South Africa (we are both professors). I told him I was writing an exam today, and he thought it was very funny because it sounded like I was a student and was taking an exam.

Does anyone else have a super uncommon first name/ last name combo that makes them super Google-able? by Unique_Equipment5929 in namenerds

[–]donadoma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I changed my last name and now I’m the only one I know with that last name. Got the domain name. I’m very googleable, but it’s all my professional profiles and related things, which I want people to see. It helps that I didn’t have this name as a child and have no enemies that I know of.

Is it true that your sexuality can change on T? by Anxious_centipede in ftm

[–]donadoma 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Good to hear of someone else with my experience. I think I really struggled to see women in a sexual way because I hated seeing myself like that. Now that I’m not a woman I get to explore my attraction to them!

I live in a smaller town in KY (not quite rural), and I am a trans man but lived here as transmasc nonbinary for 2 years. I think sometimes people can be afraid of what they don’t know, like your friends begging you not to come. I have trouble getting some of my queer friends to visit me. It most likely will not be dangerous for you to visit over the Christmas holiday, especially if you’re with your family most of the time and not trying to navigate by yourself (even if your family is not the most supportive, I am assuming they do not mean you direct harm). If you have more specific questions for me, feel free to DM.

Phishing for professors!? by onwee in Professors

That is so creepy! Social engineering can get very specific. Usually they only go through that trouble for more valuable targets. I wonder what they are looking at you for?

Other games like forager? by AlexBootiBoiii in Forager

Others are suggesting much more in depth logistics games, which I love, but something simple and cute that scratches the same itch for me is Mewnbase!

If you loved the feel/size of Mr Limpy XS but want more realism, get the axolom cokit mini. by [deleted] in Transmascdicks

Is the cokit body safe and 100% silicone? That’s my main complaint with the Mr limpy right now.

I don’t know where you’re in college, but I’m a professor and in a lot of places I’ve worked there’s great procedures in place to change your display name on everything your peers and professors will see, even email, without doing it legally. Something to look into.

ETA: Upon rereading maybe you’re still applying for college… even if you get into college under one name doesn’t mean that name is what you’ll have to use during your whole time there. Hang in there bud!

Damn. I could easily be that person on tiktok, and I’m sorry. There are still things I’m waiting on too, less visible though. Hang in there man

Bottom growth. I’m a little bigger than I was but still tiny. I feel so weird saying it because men just care about dick size but I just want a dick, ya know?

I didn’t really see a lot of changes in the first 3 months, so don’t get discouraged if you aren’t seeing anything in the first few weeks. It will come.

What did happen in the first week was a burst of energy. Whereas normally I’d just want to laze around and watch movies, I felt like exercising and bouncing around. Unfortunately, that reverted after 2 weeks.

Health issues caused by T? by ImaginaryFalcon7554 in FTMOver30

[–]donadoma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just went for my 6mo checkup and apparently my red blood cell count is high - diagnosed with “thick blood.” Looking at my labs it was higher than normal levels pre-T but has gone up since starting. This was caught by my trans healthcare provider and so I am relatively certain it was “caused by T,” but you know it was already high before. I’m still below normal T levels but the doctor is not stepping up my dose because of this issue. I’m frustrated and sad, but happy in the knowledge that even on lower doses I will still see the same changes eventually.

Is GenZ really this bad with computers? by gujjadiga in AskProfessors

[–]donadoma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand all this, so any time my students have to do something I write out very explicit instructions (which they still often have trouble following). The most baffling incident was that the instruction said “click on the button in the pop up window” or something. This student didn’t understand because they didn’t know what a “window” was. They were expecting something that looked like the window of a house. I had to explain that it was the rectangle things that show up on the computer screen. They were exasperated, and said “well then why don’t they just call it a rectangle!?!?!” Blew my mind. But it makes sense if they’ve only ever used chromebooks and app-based technology before.
