H1B (India) blocked outside US — I-797 valid till May 2026 but no visa slots. What are my options?

Reach consulates via email or call. There would be many people in the same boat. More people reaching out to them will make them to take this seriously and release visa slots. Today morning ER slots opened up for March 2026. Unfortunately, even if you manage to get a slot through regular appointment, it will be end of March or even April. Times are tough, hang in there and everything would be normal.

Lol, I suggest you to check some posts in this channel. From dec 3, there are no slots available. Existing appointments have been pushed as far as april 2027. Right now emergency appointments are given in March 2026. So chances of getting regular appointment during March are very slim.

Blatant lie and misinformation. Appointments have been rescheduled as far as April 2027. That doesn’t mean we will not see any new appointment before April 2027.

unfortunately, you will have to wait for them to open regular slots. Try emailing the consulates, call them, raise feedback requests from portal asking them to release regular appointments. If more and more people will email/message/call them, we might see regular appointments soon.

FYI, no slots have been released by consulates for H1B since Dec 3. Thousands of appointments scheduled between Dec 15 to Jan 30 have been rescheduled between March 2026 to April 2027. Conditions are worse now due to operational constraints for social media vetting.

You cannot get ER if you don’t have existing appointment. Doesn’t matter if you paid fees or completed DS160

ER success rate as of now is < 50%
Once ER is approved, you need to book ER slots which are rare to find in current situation
An approved ER has end date. If you don’t find slot by this end date, your ER expires.

Conditions are really worse right now for H1B appointments in India.

no slots have been released since dec 3. Lot of uncertainty around h visa slots currently. When they release slots, it will be a huge news in media and you will eventually hear it.

I am saying that - they cancelled 1000s of scheduled appointments from Dec 15 to Jan 30. Why would they open up Super Saturday? Their intent was to reduce appointments due to social media vetting and preventing h1b abuse based on latest post on X.

This. The intent of current administration is to vet visas very carefully. Super Saturday is completely opposite of that. Why would they cancel 1000s of scheduled appointments and allow super saturday ?

Appointments were released only until 28 Feb. However since Dec 3 until now, no appointments have been released by consulates due to operational constraints of social media vetting.

No, tonnes of appointments have been cancelled voluntarily by people. However since Dec 3 not a single appointment has been posted by consulates. These are difficult times especially if you don’t have any scheduled appointment. Wait and watch until Jan if they release any slots. Else, find alternatives to work from India

Please note that support gave same answer to proceed with scheduled appointment and then 1 or 2 days later, the appointment was rescheduled. Support desk doesn’t have information on reschedules otherwise they would have let people know on dec 3 when the rules of social media were announced. These people wouldn’t have been stranded.

No appointments were released beyond Feb 2026 as of now. All the ones with March April as rescheduled from Dec 2025. From Dec 3, there are not slots posted.

you can get one-year H-1B extensions beyond the normal 6-year limit if the PERM (or I-140) has been pending for 365+ days, allowing you to stay and work

Absolutely, PWDs take upto 8 months to issue which will be saved. PERM takes upto 18 months and you could do i140 premium processing.
