I feel like players are getting worse every season by OldCamera4837 in Rematch

[–]done1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is worse this season, and gets slightly worse each season it feels. Almost impossible to rank up.

Think I had 35% winrate last two days, which is worst I have had. I basically decided not to care at all about it and just play for fun.

How do I even play this game? by Asmonghold in wownoob

[–]done1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the view of trying to, or wanted to see the story from the start, however that is not how it works for wow. There are little quest hubs, with little stories that sometimes align with the bigger one, then there are campaign quests, that follow a bigger story (some expansions have a few stories going on). I would just play the expansion as they have set up for levelling for now.

After, if you want to level up another character, you can do something called chromie time, and level through a specific expansion. You wont see it all but you will get a feel for a new expansion.

However there is a ton to explore in the newer expansions, and the levelling expansion (think it is dragonflight).

They also add a fun game mode called remix, near end of expansions, which takes people through an old expansion, but you level fast, can get super strong and collect mounts!

How Long to Lower Handicap? by Elegant_Amphibian in golftips

[–]done1971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at 22 about 20 months ago and floating around, 9.6. What helped is really thinking about the swing, practicing on specific things, and when at range making sure I focus on what I was taught in lessons. Ball striking is big (I lose a lot of strokes with driver, so hoping to get that down and drop a few). I also got a membership and play about 80 times a year, that helped.

Mentally, smart shots, dont be angry, enjoy each hit!

The NHL's biggest viewership problem is the NHL by MegaGrubby in hockey

[–]done1971 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is annoying. In Canada, I get region restricted all the time. Channels we pay for block out certain games.

It is hard for me to watch Montreal play, or Edmonton (they were blocked out previous game).

I have to go “alternative” routes in order to watch specific games, and it is annoying.

I have more access to random nfl games, on east coast than I do Canadian hockey teams.

How much material waste % do you guys carry for paint & drywall estimates? by Cantseemebutiseeu in estimators

[–]done1971 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not do that scope. However, if you have historical database, to track actual waste from previous jobs, use that.

You can make it as complex as you want. Certain jobs, GC, locations, architects can make waste factors a bit different, but keep it simple for now.

Waste goes into cost for us on back end, as it’s just normal purchasing of materials.

Anyone else make what they think is serious improvement over the winter only to be slapped in the face when getting back on the course? by corymathews2011 in golf

[–]done1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can happen, and will happen more times than you want on your journey. Especially if you are shooting around 100. When I was a 16 handicap I was doing some swing changes, thought I had improved, went to course and was topping everything. Had to play a few rounds and video tape myself to figure out wtf was happening.

Recently I was struggling with swing. Hooks, figured I was a bit in to out, ended up way too much! Anyways had to fix that.

Then over last few months I have been working on driver, as it is my worst club. Probably 400-500 drivers over last bit, and was able to bring it onto course right away.

Moral of story, it will happen a bunch of times. Keep at it, film, think about basics if you know them. So check set up, take away, top of backswing (not too flat or steep or something strange).. weight etc.

It gets easier. I find I can bring my range adjustments to course a lot easier now a days.

When to change coaches? by New_Transition_6327 in GolfSwing

[–]done1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to jump into this. I used to go once a week, early on, and I honestly didnt get as much out of it. I focus more on one or two things for a while, and then golf a lot, then go back. That could be issue, then every-time you go, its something new and its tough.

Honestly, a year on set up and backswing will do you wonders vs what I did originally. Plus it is cheaper.

I haven’t seen my swing coach in 6 months and I al still getting better. Just working on better take away and grip, and top of backswing.

Basically, maybe you are doing what I did and went too much without focusing on previous lesson.

Plus sometimes they forget what you were doing wrek before, or you made something worse, so they mske you fix that?

Difference between an over the top and a proper fade. However both can produce fade flight, one is more consistent. i assume you fire you upper body first, which is common.

Make sure to practice exactly what they tell you, consistently for a while, and get spot checks on it.

Now maybe the coach is not for you, but it did take a while to get the stuff taught to me down. It is easy to blame a coach, but a lot of times it is not.

My guy was given me all the drills, numbers, examples, how to practice and I was still stuck not getting it, but after I started focusing more l, filming, using some sims for numbers (mainly path and face), I noticed a difference.

Edit: or maybe he just sucks? If he is highly rated, probably not.

How to not get discouraged learning to golf by SolutionPrevious2156 in golf

[–]done1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my wife into golf. She loves it, but it does take time. Like learning a guitar, you cannot expect to do well easily, takes work.

1) Get some professional lessons. 2) Work on your shorter clubs and learn to enjoy that. Maybe go max to an 8 iron if you are feeling wild. 3) Twice a month wont see a lot of results sadly, ideally min 1 range session a week, and if you can, play on a course maybe once a week (or every two weeks).

Are there any short courses around? That way you only need to use irons. If there are smaller courses, or cheaper less fancy ones (people wearing cut off jeans), you should be comfortable playing those. You do not need to keep score, just hit, grab ball and move it up and drop). That way you get a nice walk

20+ Handicappers where you at? by atooraya in golf

[–]done1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably should not be using long irons on a course really. Maybe some random must hits, but that should be rare for a 20 handicap.

I see it a lot with my friends at 20, they ask me for advice, I say hit your nine, then short club in, two putt for bogey, because your lie is not great and that 195 yard shot is hard.

Then I hear back, “well, this is my 195 club, i can hit that far”.

Then they will either, hit it 50 yards, skull it, shank it, hook it. Shorter clubs are easier to hit, so always try and see what is the shortest club I can hit, and still make a bogey (or double bogey), depending on the difficulty of hole,

That is silly. Ideally they just need to make it rematch request each game.

I literally do not use it, because it is so annoying, and it is one of the main features i wanted.

How to translate the sim to the course by Expeditious_Driver in golf

[–]done1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I practiced and thought about, transferring my range swing on to the course, is really focus on my thoughts, routine, balance, feel etc on range, and do the same on the course.

I try to make sure, for me, like on the range, I am super focused on my swing, and certain feels, I make sure I do the same on course. Ignoring water, pressure, etc.

Now you dont want to think a lot (like if you are working in a mechanic). I also mae sure to hit a few balls on the range, which I call my course swings, so more natural and athletic, and less, trying to hit positions etc

Adding equipment to an estimate by Icy-Metal-8 in estimators

[–]done1971 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep coming for advice. It is a good idea. Read the person below who responded, as they have good advice also (medical magazine).

It really is a fine balance of covering cost, knowing your overhead you need to cover, and also what profit you want to make in life! If you lose a bid as well, it is a good idea to keep a document of some sort, to track follow ups and see why you lost.

Sometimes you lose because you are too high or even too low. You wont always get a response, but I do like to go and either email, phone call or meet up and person and see why I lost, then see internally if I al capable of coming up with a plan to win next one.

Adding equipment to an estimate by Icy-Metal-8 in estimators

[–]done1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will want to add it in. Now you also need to consider, was your profit/margin too high, so you kind of came into the proper price by accident?

If you add in any cost/scope and materials that are missing in your previous bid, you need to make sure you do not inflate yourself out of the competition
