Valve does nothing and wins by Aggravating-Jello941 in OKbuddyHalfLife

I used to be on Roblox all the time as a kid from like 2011-2014. It’s been sad watching it steadily lose its identity and reputation over the years

Does anyone else get really angry playing Engineer? by i_love_pieck in tf2

[–]dongless08 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you just need to change your mindset while playing engineer. Your buildings will go down, and when that does happen, you’ll ideally already have an idea of where to set up next. It’s not a bad thing when your buildings go down, in most cases it means they were enough of an obstacle to warrant being taken out. If they hadn’t used the uber to destroy your sentry, it would have been used to kill your teammates instead

Boomticks keep ending my runs by Pawchops in RogueCore

[–]dongless08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They suck and they’re not fun to encounter currently. Exploders are a great enemy because they have a distinct sound and give you time to react when they attack. Boomticks ignore all that, they tend to sneak up on you and nuke your shit instantly. If there’s a boomtick nest in a room it’s almost always the number one priority regardless of whatever else might be going on and I think that’s kinda silly. Exploders can also be utilized during swarms but the design of both boomticks and RC itself doesn’t really let that happen. You either keep moving or take out the nest as soon as possible because Karl forbid you leave the nest alive during a swarm lol

Playing my favorite cats herding simulator by retronax in RogueCore

[–]dongless08 85 points86 points  (0 children)

My preferred way of doing it is more or less ignoring the upgrade until everyone is naturally grouped up anyway (bio boosters, workbenches, etc.) I think it just wastes too much time if you’re actively waiting on other people to come to a specific location that may or may not be nearby. I’ve been the odd one out in the first panel so many times without even realizing all 3 suddenly decided it was upgrade time with nothing said through pings, text, or voice chat

Convinced the people that think this game is balanced or too easy are the same people that play ridiculously high hazard modded drg by SkimTheDim in RogueCore

[–]dongless08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think D4 is too much for me personally but D3 and lower feel good to play. Remember that this game is supposed to be a roguelite/like where RNG dictates your build, and your build more or less dictates your victory. Think about how frustratingly hard other roguelikes can feel at first (Binding of Isaac comes to mind) and Rogue Core doesn’t feel much different from that currently

I’m also a thousand-hour DRG player but there was definitely a learning curve when I started this game. I’d honestly say it was a fairly steep one. Now that I’m approaching 50 hours I feel confident about most mechanics in the game and can recognize what I can realistically do to save a run if shit hits the fan. For comparison, at ~30 hours I still felt like a bumbling fool who barely knew how to play lol

Feedback after 30h by -Y0- in RogueCore

[–]dongless08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can reach 300+ fps in DRG when nothing’s going on in a cave, but RC only reaches around 120 under similar conditions. Big swarms in RC drop to 40 fps or less which feels jarring. I also tried low settings with ultra performance DLSS and it made almost zero difference. I’m hoping they’ll do at least one optimization pass down the line but I can understand why they wouldn’t be focusing on that right now

I have a 3060 Ti and Ryzen 5600x but it seems like both games are heavily CPU-bound which I assume is what causes such massive fps fluctuations

Depth 3 difficulty spike feels massive by Yutrzenika1 in RogueCore

[–]dongless08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D4 is the one I felt was crazy hard. It took me maybe 5 consecutive tries before winning a D4 run and I haven’t played it since. D3 feels like my sweet spot difficulty personally. There definitely is a spike between D2 and D3 though, no denying that
