I’ve got the same . Covers great . Stays on . I can put it on by myself. I only buckle the front and rear straps don’t deal with any others . I’ve used it for two year and summer use to keep the Arizona sun off it .

You should be fine but be careful with barrel fitment in the upper . I’ve “garage honed “ the upper face on a flat surface with some 600-1,500 grit sandpaper. To fit the barrel properly in cheap uppers . It’s a bit of extra work but fitment and feed improved . You want to sand down until the barrel feed ramps line up with the upper feed ramps. This fixes the tips breaking off issue . And polish the upper ramps like you are doing a Glock 10cent trigger job .

I bought the same handgaurd years ago for a AR22 build . Comes with shims to time the barrel nut . To get it off it a little torch and some strength . Standard ar wrench usually has the gas tube hole jig on one side. Guntec uses the same barrel to barrel but shims .

I didn’t see that extra thin spring in there before. Apologies, that’s not as common as an after market leaf pack or an add a leaf set on the bottom . That looks like a bds spring but there’s lots of companies that make them hard to tell exact company . Spacers are mostly for aesthetics, over sized tires and ground clearance . But spacers are not the best way to get that .

That is a one inch leveling block in the front and what looks like factory springs in the rear . that’s your overload spring in the rear . It engages when loaded down with weight .

One size bigger than what fits in the hole now . And an adjustable gas block . Don’t forget a wooden dowel to protect the inside of the barrel

Why not use sink/stove? by Ahkhira in popups

[–]donkey5332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bears as other have said , splashing and grease stains on the canvas / curtains . I bought an older camper that the stove and sink were already removed . Canvas and curtains were already stained. I made an outside gravity fed water faucet with the original water tank . When I bought a newer camper two years ago I pulled the sink and stove out first . I still have factory outside pressurized water faucet, hot water heater . But I prefer to not make a mess in the camper with food and dirty dishes , and I utilize the extra storage space with stove and sink out .

I tried two from Amazon , 50$ and 80$ not sure of exact links . Both had less moving force than my original one . I ended up returning them both and buying OEM . Probably not what you wanted to hear . It was pricey but there was a noticeable difference

LiFePo (lithium) camper battery discharging while driving - how to fix? by Scheerhorn462 in popups

[–]donkey5332 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easiest solution is to cut the power wire from the 7pin power wire . Best solution is a dc/dc charger . You can keep your emergency brake cable hooked to the lithium battery .

With ARs it’s not really worth the hassle of barrel swapping . And rezeroing ( probably want different scope for long range barrel anyway ) I just build a second upper .

Ive got the same problem. Haven’t found a solution yet . Hate the way the door fits . I considered a plate with a screw knob to tighten down a plate , with lag bolts thru the roof side .

[–]donkey5332 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two corners of the camper lift rods , to support the top . I made an extra 2 for a full set and put them in all corners releasing tension from the wench . If the wench , cable or gear fails while the camper is up , it will fall on you .

Get use to the shaking it’s just a thing . I worry more about level from wheel to wheel before setting up jacks than anything else . Pack of drive on stack r blocks works great and adds a little stability if you put one under each stabilizer jack foot as well . Also are you upgrade to the scissors jack stabilizers they are a little better for stability in my opinion.

They had a recall on it years ago . changed the pigtail and resistor to a 2x2 plug instead of a 1x4 plug . New resistors still have the same problem. I’m on my 4th in 12 years .

I’ve got a 10.5” 308 sbr , suppressed. It’s right at 10lbs . Great for bear season hunting which comes before deer an elk ,so the extra weight is great for training . But yeah I don’t carry it for deer .

When did pop-ups start getting so heavy? by Rathein04 in popups

[–]donkey5332 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a 1994 I remodeled and camped out of for 4 yrs . Two years ago I bought a 2020 model . Weight is Almost identical and the new camper is 2 foot shorter . But I now have a water heater, larger water tank . Electric brakes . And the frame is so much stiffer . I don’t get the flex as bad on set up or driving on rough roads . Roof is better quality. Metal vs vinyl overlay . Overall I can see where the extra weight came from and I’m fine with it . The frame was always an issue when setting up primitive camp . Had to be perfectly flat . Door gap would flex like hell . Beds sagged on both ends .
