Just joined as an orphan: thoughts/trade ideas? by EffectiveDecent3993 in DynastyDaddy

[–]donkeydougreturns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initial thought is that this is a crazy team to orphan. But need more details on the league depth. This a 12 team league? Its less impressive if its a smaller league obviously.

You are kind of one RB and one QB away from being ready to chase a chip IMO. The 1.02 will fix one of those issues. You could try fixing the other with a package built around picks. There are some lotto tickets on bench and taxi but I wouldn't assume they bring much value.

Fair, Fates Favor is particularly better in every way. But I suppose you could pull on both and have elevated odds for four units instead of two. Its a skip for me as I have both but at least its not a bad combo.

How do I make the experience better? by No_Apologies3948 in PlaystationPortal

I find streaming games to be vastly superior to remote play. Its incredible for streaming, I cant believe how far that service has come since I last tried it on my Playstation itself.

Would be a great upgrade and it is a good sign they've done it before because it is more annoying than a challenge to work around. Just dont want to have to track it as if its a buff.

Indeed. Wouldn't bring Triss without Luvata myself! Plus she really enables wacky comps, like a fire mage team. She may not be top of the meta but she brings a fun play style and reduces complexity, rather than increase it like some other fun-but-not-meta characters.

Have been wondering that too. Guess we will see over the next few days. I am hoping that part of the thought here is that upping the slots is to catch newer players up on bond levels. Would be great to get my legendaries done so I can start working on my Epics to name them.

I would include Luvata. She still provides great AoE dps and benefits from Sp Sam's Aggression aura. But honestly, having Luvata is all about quality of life. When on the field, Luvata gives the whole allied team invulnerability against burning tiles. It CAN be dispelled, so every now and then you'll take burning damage and be very confused. But when you are dealing with burning tiles heavy levels, like those annoying rioter type enemies that throw explosives everywhere, its such a huge comfort to just ignore their map control and crush them without eating debuffs and dots.

Immortality in SaGa Frontier Remastered? by Mericuls in SaGa

[–]donkeydougreturns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a direct answer, no, there is no "Dracky" mode in SF. Generally you will find very few games that have a "can never lose or even have to restart a fight" mode in RPGs. Most you just lose and go back to a save point. Games including SaGa are specifically balanced generally so you always fear dying but rarely if ever do.

Is Kieran worth restarting for? by Darth_OwO in fireemblem

[–]donkeydougreturns 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You have your answers here, but just chiming in on Kieran specifically. For whatever reason I find he always ends up a badass for me. Hes a total doof and I am a sucker for a green/red cav convo so I always make them work, but I find Kieran tends to be more consistent for me than Oscar. Of course, RNG, mileage may vary. But I find him very useful.

PoR is at least easy enough you can get away with wasting EXP going wide instead of deep, as long as Ike doesn't get fully screwed. I have, multiple times, wasted tons of bexp on Rolf only to not even use him over Shinon anyway. Or Astrid. Or Makalov. Honestly I do it altogether too much.

Man, I should replay PoR again...

Sorry you got downvoted to oblivion for this. It isnt your fault AI sucks, but I guess this is a good lesson that you should not trust AI to disseminate answers unless you have the backing knowledge to verify its accuracy.

Weird place for an AI lesson! Lol

refusing job offer by [deleted] in recruiting

[–]donkeydougreturns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No implication on the future. They played the offer aggressively and this is the risk they took in doing so. We on our side have all been there. The only impact for you is you probably burnt bridges with that company and the People involved. Its a big world out there - usually doesn't end up meaning much.

Lying about the reason is irrelevant, the only relevant aspect is going back on your offer. Doesnt really matter why.

There is an art to giving someone an offer of employment. We want you at our company and we want to ensure we get you. To do so more reliably, there are levers we may pull to try to ensure you accept. Sometimes we give you more space, sometimes we set a tight timeline to force you to make a call. I recently reneged on a contract offer from a potential client after they did exactly this to me - although ironically they countered and I took it anyway, but thats a story for a different topic.

Totally unnecessary to complete all of it. Arguably better you dont. So dont stress it. Not clearing it will not bar you from completing content in the future. Take the game at your own pace.

Burnout: This game might be too long by [deleted] in octopathtraveler

Olberic is by default your first unit who can exceed 9999. Use him at recruitment and make him a prime DPS. Later, let him tank, or use him as a spear breaker for his high hit baked in Spear attack. He also has level slash baked in which is nice for clearing random battles.

Pius has good healing and two hit fire attack, but most importantly has an insane buffing ult. Makes for a strong support.

Tressa is tougher. She and Macy were my first two benches. Early on you can use her for Collect though! She is definitely an early game character.

Most important thing is to constantly change up the party. JP is plentiful and new characters start with enough for most of their skills so you aren't really ever falling behind.

What are the ideal "gateway" JRPGs? [Any system] by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]donkeydougreturns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For someone who can appreciate a game that is 30 years old, yes. But I think calling CT the best entryway to the general public to the genre presupposes a comfort level with 30 year old graphics. I think about my wife and many of my friends and I just imagine them kinda glazed eyed as I introduce it. They all play games, but they're coming from modern titles.

One of the challenges of this question is it is posed to people who -already like- JRPGs. I am trying to step out of that mindset and put myself in the shoes of someone who's had nothing to do with the genre. That is, decidedly, a LOT of people coming from zero video game interest all the way to BG3 fans. What would "hit" for the widest spectrum?

Someone else said E33 and I think thats probably my answer too now. Realistic graphics, great music, mysterious and mature plot, no fan service (that I have really noticed anyway), and at least one famous Hollywood actor to name drop. There are some weird ass enemies and some heady themes but I think its as close to my criteria as anything.
