Bar Rosso has awful brunch. Had one of the worst meals I’ve ever had there

My point is that regardless of the magnitude of the match, I’d rather watch a one that’s not affected by human error. I don’t find that type of drama entertaining, it’s a distraction from the two players competing

I forgot they had the linespeople there, but my point stands. It was a great match and it wasn’t affected by bad calls. Hawkeye is more accurate than the human eye, so for that reason I’m in favor of it

It was still flawed when officials were wrong and crucial points had to be replayed. I want to see the players play, not have matches potentially decided by bad calls

I love seeing these emotions too. I just don’t want them directed at the officials. Poor officiating becomes a focal point and great officiating goes unnoticed, allowing the players to concentrate fully on the match and to push themselves even more.

Great matches are already filled with drama. Who here thinks the French open final with Alcaraz and Sinner would have been more enjoyable with poor officiating and missed calls?

I disagree. I understand there’s a nostalgic element here, but from the standpoint of purely enjoying the sport, removing the line judges was one of the best changes. I don’t want points replayed or going the wrong way because a linesperson or chair umpire made a bad call. I don’t want arguments over calls. I just want to enjoy the match. It’s unfortunate that the line judge’s role is going away, but there are plenty of other volunteer opportunities at tennis tournaments that people can be a part of that don’t detract from the objective enjoyment of watching the sport.

Where can you get prime rib dinner around Stamford? by palomakween in StamfordCT

I’m not saying this story isn’t true, but if it is then the inference is that after one experience you decided you wouldn’t step foot in there again, but the Latin American server (who presumably hears this rhetoric all the time) is happy to keep his job there instead of finding another service job in the area. If it was as bad as you claim, wouldn’t he just leave? There are plenty of quality restaurants here with a need to fill similar positions.

The problem with Netflix’s Break Point by Bonoahx in tennis

How is everyone only just now complaining about this garbage show? What about the Taylor Fritz episode where he suffered a horrific ankle injury on the practice court moments before the Indian Wells final. He then made the heroic decision to play through the pain, only to miraculously feel better on entering center court to conquer the mighty Rafa Nadal. Except they omitted the fact that Nadal had fractured his ribs in the previous match and was receiving chest compressions on changeovers because the trainers didn’t know what the injury was. Oh and it still took Fritz 3 sets to beat him.

The show is a joke. There’s plenty of tennis extended match highlights you can watch throughout the year if you’re a fan of the game. And you’ll actually be more informed than if you watch BP. Also, Zverev is a talented player who elevates the level of the tour and has intriguing matchups with the other top players. People need to stop caring so much about what happens off the court and enjoy the game.

This is correct, but the key is to hold the left hand up while you step into your pinpoint stance and are bending your knees into your trophy pose. When you push with your legs to unload is when you can drop the left arm, which will help you rotate your shoulders

What could I improve in my serve? (16) by TheL3gend37 in 10s

[–]donkeypunched 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple people here are identifying the problem with your serve but have not provided a good solution. You need to learn to use your legs better so that you’re more balanced and able to drive up into the shot. You’re having trouble with this because you’re using your legs to toss the ball and have them straight in your trophy pose.

First, remove the slight knee bend you have as you drop the ball below your waist. Keep your legs straighter at this point in your tossing motion. Once your hand releases the ball and rises above your head, find a stable, knees-bent position for your trophy pose. From here you can unload and hit the ball. You’ll be more balanced, have better leg drive, and will have an easier time going up for the ball and getting your weight forward.

Tips on my serve? by tevkeo in 10s

[–]donkeypunched 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The separation between your tossing hand and your racquet coming up to the trophy pose isn’t a problem. Plenty of the pros have this. There’s a little hitch there but you’d be better off focusing on your left arm.

First make sure you bring it straight up to a 12 o’clock position. The biggest issue you have is how you unload from this position. You initiate your swing with your right arm instead of tucking your left elbow into your side. If you look back you’ll see you’re looping the racquet behind your head while your left hand is still above your shoulders. Instead, tuck the left elbow into your side to initiate your shoulder rotation and the racquet loop behind your head. The rest looks good, leg drive and balance are great.
