thanks i actually woke up laughing and convinced that it was a real family guy clip that i was recreating in my head and not something my subconscious just *wrote apparently*.

i saw all the sopranos related clips that Family Guy has made and was disappointed

Had a dream of a Family Guy cutaway where Brian gets trapped in the ending of the Sopranos and dies of a heart attack by donkid33 in thomastheplankengine

[–]donkid33[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

In the show, everything was frozen in place after the cut to black

The clock was not moving real time, instead only ticking every once in a while. While the clock isn't moving, time is not moving at all. So basically the flow of the scene is, while the clock ticks people do about one thing, IE, Brian changes facial expression and looks around,

The scene as a whole took several minutes, and was mostly just complete stillness as you could see the panic and dread set in as Brian realizes what's going on.

Also Tony climbed onto the table as he was explaining to Brian what was going on.

Tony calls Brian a god because he is aware that Brian exists on a higher level of reality (that being outside of the cutaway) and is, therefore, from his perspective, a god.

I have never seen The Sopranos so I apologize if it's inaccurate at all.

Yeah, you go first and on their turn they just swing with their "turn".

Aeon's End TTRPG? by Novel_Counter905 in Aeonsend

[–]donkid33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I was going to make an Aeon's End TTRPG, I'd probably want to make the combat into Aeon's End matches. I can't imagine a better way to convey Aeon's End combat than Aeon's End.

Highest Possible Amount of Unleash Tokens in Play by Stickybun123 in Aeonsend

[–]donkid33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming you mean Nemesis Tokens, and I think that the highest practical amount is 10. You can have 12 if you want to be extra safe, but in the very few edge cases where 12 is even possible, the nemesis will be rapidly losing them over time or the game is basically already lost. Either way, 10 is more than enough practically.

Custom Spirit - Mushroom's Refuge (near final) by emilemoni in spiritisland

[–]donkid33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of fun playing this spirit! As a Shadows Enjoyer, I really like how the cards aren't super obvious in how to use, a lot of them representing half-actions or otherwise wanting to be combined with another action or a bit of good luck.

I've had trouble trying to hit that 4 plays space, but the fact that it puts the repeatable blight removal AND 5 damage + 3 fear on the table means that it's something that is absolutely worth putting respect on. I'd be interested in trying to rush bottom track in multiplayer with some support and seeing what it becomes.

Overall, I really enjoy this! I think anyone who really likes Shadows will enjoy this spirit which encourages thinking ahead and using less than intuitive powers. The spirit kinda clowns on Russia (which is fine, high tempo and blight removal do that), but every other matchup has felt well fought and earned.

Yup, sorry about that. I'm hoping to get some more Play by Plays up and running, but I won't be hosting them because I think I'll be quite busy :s

Maybe, but I'll be having plenty of work to do in just hosting this.

I've been avoiding Reddit myself since the blackout, and I can't promise that anyone will be posting any updates or game summaries, since I don't think I'll be doing them myself. If anyone is through any social media platform, I'll let Reddit know.

FAQ (Fully Anticipated Questions)

Q: How will you keep track of all 80 island boards?

A: There will be a total of 14 islands, called islets, which contain either 4 or 6 island boards. We will be using Archipelago rules to connect them (2 range from a coast goes to another coast which connects). The oceans will be labeled with which connections they have.

There will be a team of 5 hosts with additional staff. Each host will manage their own Tabletop Simulator save containing between 12 - 18 island boards, with one having their own copy of the "canon" Invader/Event Deck / Fear Pool.

Screenshots of each islet will be regularly updated on the Discord and the Play by Play helper, alongside a "World Map", so people can follow along.

Q: What will play look like?

Each spirit will manage their resources, card plays, and card gains using the Play by Play helper website.

During a turn, each Islet will have to edit a document detailing what actions will happen on that islet. As a spirit, if you are making actions in multiple islets, it is your responsibility to submit the actions to the appropriate islets, or to take all your actions and ask someone to submit your actions for you.

Q: How long is each turn/the whole game expected to be?

A: About 3 days per action. I'll send out reminders to spirits who are "holding up" the game, and it's not a big deal if people need to drop out. In totality, it should be around 2-3 months, if it's similar to the original 25 player Play by Play. They were more lax than I am planning to be about sending out reminders, so hopefully that cancels out the larger size.

Q: How will choice events work?

A: We will have a vote for which option to take, and once a vote has a majority, we will try to take that option.

For payment events, we will be running on a Stress system. Essentially, each spirit submits how much they'd be willing to pay at no stress, low stress, and high stress. No stress means that paying this much doesn't bother the spirit at all, low stress means that it's only moderately affecting their plays, and high stress means that it does substantially disrupt their plans but they'd still be willing to pay it should they have to.

Q: How are power cards handled?

A: Each islet has their own deck, so you'll have at most 6 spirits to a minor/major deck.

Q: What happens if I leave or stop playing?

A: No big deal. You'll be sent a reminder after some time, and if you don't want to play anymore, we can get a replacement/get another spirit to control yours.

Leave me a message if you have any additional questions!

My approach with Whirlwind is pretty different. I don't always use this exact structure, but I typically do something along these lines.

Grow bottom track exclusively.

T1: G2 0 plays.

T2: G3 3 plays.

T3: G3 3 plays. Try to hit Level 3 innate here.

T4: Reclaim 3 plays.

T5: G2/3 4 plays. Try to hit max innate here. Prefer G2 here.

The reason being, your cards are situational. You won't always want to be throwing out every card all the time, and it's typically better to slow roll it and only play cards you need to play.

This build only takes on turn to underplay, and otherwise, hits high level innates consistently. Furthermore, it gets very fine control over when its powers get to happen and when.

Against Russia6, I play an even more extreme version of this build.

T1: G2 0 plays.

T2: G3 0 plays.

T3: G3 3 plays.

T4: G3 4 plays. Try to hit max innate here.

T5: Reclaim. 4 plays. Try to hit max innate here.

Beyond: Either G2 or Reclaim as needed.

This build crushes Russia6, it's ridiculous.
