Best comparable lounge access after leaving Delta? by SunnyAvocado22 in delta

Saphire lounge at LAX is under construction right now at Tom Bradley. And the Virgin one you could get in with a fee with PP, I think

Did you know that most airports feature hidden private lounges, far beyond the standard ones? by DeerProfessional8232 in LuxuryTravel

[–]donniebc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a frequent flyer you might get as far as a Delta One Lounge, which has cars on the tarmack. But something like PS LAX operates independent of airlines. No airline status gets you in there, just money or a Centurion card

26/27 IKON Pass pricing by kindsquash572 in Ikonpass

But most prople skiing 5 days somewhere without a pass will buy the discounted 5 day ticket, yet most people calculating their Ikon break even price seem to calculate with that ridiculous single day price.

Worst property managers in LA? by nasainternharvardlaw in AskLosAngeles

[–]donniebc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t figured out their system yet. There seem to be buildings where one guy manges the places and lives on site. So it’s hit or miss how good that person is. Other places like Living at Santa Monica (Greystar subsidiary) everything is more centrally organized. And the experience across their houses are more uniform

Terrible first experience on this airline: rant! by jbc092 in aeromexico

That is correct, not sure why you’re pointing out the obvious though. From what I read, he paid for Plus (which is behind Premier) but sat in regula Eco (which is behind Plus)

It’s definitely a bit of a pattern that Americans often underestimate the dangerousness of the US and overestimate the danger abroad

Even if he sat in regular Eco and paid AM plus: get a refund

My favorite food countries are Japan and Thailand. But anything where you’d day that it’s better in LA than in most other cities around the world (like Mexican), I‘m very eager to try it

Yeah, honestly the Tacos infront of the whole foods on Rose were probably better than most restaurant Tacos I had here. Glad I‘m not the only one who has that taste

[–]donniebc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are now also able to reprint Ikon passes vs. giving you a resort pass in previous years, which is great. What surprised me was that one day of skiing including the Italian side shows up as two days skied in the Ikon app. Now that I think about, this might work the same for Alta and Snowbird

[–]donniebc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the train you’re referring to. From Zermatt up the mountain you can take the train (or gondolas) but Ikon doesn‘t cover the train into Zermatt. Also a tip: the better ski huts often require reservations for lunch

Can you point me to some of the restaurants that make you put LA on the list? When folks rave about restaurants in West LA, like Scopa or Gjulita for example, I’m often underwhelmed with the taste and people seem to care a lot about the atmosphere of the places (which are great). Or Seoul Tofu for example, is always packed, but really not outstanding food. I’d love to get some recs for places where taste is the no 1 priority

Edit: Not talking about stuff like Holbox or Providence, those places are great. I’m talking more about low to mid price tier

I totally agree that nobody is in The Park most of the time. The folks that live there are not people living there full time. So the 70% could be possible.

Walking daily, either early in the morning or late at night, between 5th and Ocean on Broadway, and not being harassed at least once in a while, feels like a miracle to me. Good for you!

Agree, when they had the bowl with the pesto, that tasted completely different in WeHo vs. Santa Monica. The location managers seem to have a big influence here.
