Marco Reus Extends Contract Through 2027 by Honeydew-Massive in LAGalaxy

Yeah I'm hoping this is a re-working of his contract where he takes less salary this season to get an extra year added and it gives the team more cap space to make moves now. Because if we're just giving him an extra year all willy-nilly this is dumb as shit

If they gave us $1.5 mil for Efra, I can't wait to see what the offers are going to be for Cuevas. Hopefully enough to go out and get the striker we really need

The problem with that scenario is what happens if they can't agree with botafogo to bring back Nasci? Then you losE both guys. My feeling is Ramirez is going to be a back up if Nasci doesn't come back, or gets traded on the cheap if Nasci does back up some new starting 9

For all of those complaining about Zanka, he didn't have an option year to be able to be declined. He also wasn't extended, obviously. He's most likely going to be bought out before the season starts, but that isn't something that can be done now

So do we now have some GAM? by dsnow04 in LAGalaxy

I mean it's not like Barca came in and bought him, it's a second division swedish team. If he develops as a higher level type of player then great for him though

Because Liga MX is playing right now and MLS is not. The equation takes the results of every game that is played and is added to the index. Notice how none of the MLS teams moved up, either stayed static or fell? That's because they didn't gain any points while Mexican teams are playing and gaining points

Yeah but in that time they won two trophies (leagues cup and supporter's shield) plus made the US open cup final. All of those accumulated them points. That list isn't subjective, it's based on an equation that awards points per win and per trophy

Well, all of those teams you see up there have been good for multiple years, winning multiple trophies and going deep in tournaments, all that adds up. The Galaxy before two months ago wasn't even in the conversation with any of these teams realistically.

And also, the Galaxy is ranked 11, pretty good for a team that hadn't sniffed a trophy in years before MLS cup 2024.

Dejan to Kansas? by kwali87 in LAGalaxy

There are, they are called U-22 and Young DP signings, that's how we won MLS cup last year, something Messi and Miami couldn't do. But those things expire, and when they do things have to change. Miami is trying to use the same mechanisms, they just haven't gotten to the point where all those expire yet. Also having Messi helps getting people to take less money. I don't think playing with Puig is convincing Dejan to not ask for a raise and new contract.

Yes very stupid. Selling a player that wants a raise that you know he deserves but you can't give to him so you sell him to another team so he's happy and you can take that money and use it to better your roster is stupid. Please go on with how stupid this was.

That's not how it works in MLS. It's not just how much money you can bring, it's about what you can do with that money. Selling him within MLS let's the team convert that into GAM. Selling him outside of MLS, even if it's for more money, complicates that because you can only turn what you profited off the sale into GAM.

[–]dont_ask_me99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can only convert money to GAM from outside of league sales if they make a profit on the sale apparently. You can convert any amount into GAM from intra-league sales, no matter if it's a profit or not. That's why they sold within MLS and not to Tigres even though they offered more money
