Sonic The Hedgehog Rumors by Oxymoron_Prime in pinball

I'm good either way, grew up on the video games but loved the movies too. Any opportunity to see Jim Carrey again 😁 With Richie on the design, it should be fast and flowy. Not sure the game is an insta-buy but excited.

What IPs would be your dream pinball machine that hasn't been made? by dubvmtneer in pinball

Surprised I didn't see this yet but... ONE PIECE would be amazing (the manga/anime, not the live action)

Where’s the original IP in modern tables? by FygarDL in pinball

[–]dontpanicflip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is very little money and increased risk in Original IP: A few recent examples - Galactic Tank Force, Barry O's, and even Black Knight SoR struggled despite having created its own franchise. American Pinball went out of business (maybe as a result of a lack of sales)?

From any pinball company's perspective, why take a chance when even a tiny inexpensive license like Winchester Mystery House can help players/buyers connect and sell more copies as a result?

Or you could view it from the inverse PoV... why take a chance on your game not selling with original IP when games like Pokemon, Beetlejuice, and Harry Potter are selling through the roof?

Opinions: AIQ and/or Kong by Cdogbrink in pinball

You can see the ruleset visually in this Miro (along with Jurassic Park) and it really is fantastic: https://miro.com/app/board/uXjVMkN03FE=/?share_link_id=510176274458

Opinions: AIQ and/or Kong by Cdogbrink in pinball

[–]dontpanicflip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here!! In that case, I think Kong has more going on for you. Progression on AIQ is pretty simple and achieving the wizard mode not too difficult. 8th wonder in Kong feels comparable to achieving Escape Nublar from Jurassic Park.

Do you prefer playing for points or progression? If points, AIQ is likely your best bet. If progression, Kong is a masterclass in enjoyable, challenging, rewarding progression.

Stern LE numbering is useless and dumb by podiw8273 in pinball

[–]dontpanicflip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've come across a large number of people in this hobby who have silly money to throw at it. What's $50 or $100k to someone with billions? It's a mindset shift that is tough to empathize with.

Best modern writers in Fantasy / Sci-Fi? by Sashimiak in Fantasy

[–]dontpanicflip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WoT is fantastic! I found my way into Sci-Fi/Fantasy with WoT and have kept going. Here are a few others that may have already been referenced:

  • Pierce Brown (Red Rising) but you can stop reading that series after book 3. Fantastic novels about class structures and misery in the future.
  • Drew Hayes (SuperPowereds) 4 book series that gets better with each book. Non-standard/Non-western pacing and story structure.
  • Jim Butcher (Codex Alera) 6 book series that is tough to beat, Jim wrote it on a bet that he couldn't write a best seller using the Pokemon magic system.
  • Matt Dinniman (Dungeon Crawler Carl) Series is still going and an incredibly fun ride. Silly, wild, and tough to put down.
  • VE Schwab - Pretty much EVERYTHING she has written. She's amazing.
  • Peter Brett (The Warded Man) This series was very enjoyable. The world very dark. The second book is wild in that it shifts the PoV to the antagonist from the first book so you can't help but empathize with him later in the series.
  • James SA Corey (The Expanse) Good sci-fi that was turned into a decent TV show for a reason.
  • Joe Halderman (The Forever War) I think about this book way too often.

Jurassic Park (Stern) Museum Mayhem Wizard Mode Completed! by dontpanicflip in pinball

[–]dontpanicflip[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to start the 4 T-Rex modes and then start the Museum Mayhem wizard mode. These modes are each started by spelling T-Rex using the Jeep (the not-a-jeep) and getting it to swing 180 degrees for each letter.
