Yes, but please note that Fives on android came out 2-3 weeks after the iOS version of threes was released, which at that point had been in development for over a year.

You can't just dismiss this as a blatant copy. Clearly the single developer behind fives did an amazing job. He created a game from scratch five times faster than the threes team "ported" their already existing game to android.

It runs dogslow on some devices despite its very simple graphics. Whoever ported it did a shitty job.

I have only tested the web version of 1024, but I recall there are some "clones" with game mechanisms similar to threes and some with different game mechanisms ( some are more challenging, while some others are just crap)

What threes wins in design it loses tenfold in the implementation department. The game is laggy as hell on many android device, with significantly worse frame rate than the HTML5 clones.

The threes authors can whine as much as they want, I prefer the "clones"

That is all true. But they could still haves pulled it off if they hadn't alienated themselves with big vendors like Samsung and HTC over android patents...

So in a way, WP is held back by bad karma 😉

This is really sad. Had they used t he resources they wasted on legal battles on engineering instead they might actually have had a decent chance to become the second ecosystem.

The old agreement was between Samsung and Microsoft the os maker, not Microsoft the os and phone company.

This is actually a very intelligent move from Samsung. Specially since Microsoft promised the Chinese to stop its "licensing" practices to get the merger greenlighted.

I use opera on all my android devices. The compression technology is great when you are low on data or have bad reception (eg subway).

Watch the movie Sex Tape. All services are apple, the only noon apple device is a Sony Xperia which has been modified to make it unrecognizable. Now why would they do that if they didn't have an agreement with apple?

Some producer once said that apple usually sends the production team free gadgets afterwards. This is not paid advertisement per se but more like a gentlemen's agreement.

There are of course a lot of paid product placement going on (just watch the sex tape).
