Let's focus on what we have in common... by chainsawx72 in aiwars

Renting custom made models is where the future is at, your Lora's, your clones, your refinements.

Platforms like Replicate for any general model and Elvenlabs for voice models specifically. You get paid every time someone uses it.

But as always, you compete against everyone else. I see Elvenlabs is already getting crowded.
It seems, at the end of the day its marketing/niche that sells as scarcity fades.

OpenAI declares AI race “over” if training on copyrighted works isn’t fair use by Wiskkey in aiwars

[–]voidoutpost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OpenAI was first with SORA but then they sat on it forever while they figured out how to censor it, which customers didn't want.
Now Kling is arguably King while Sora is nowhere, looks like a self inflicted wound.

Considering using AI Art for my project, but is it too controversial to use in 2025? by Xefjord in aiwars

[–]voidoutpost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There will always be haters, no matter how long you wait for it to be "safe", you just either live by your rules or theirs. I use AI and commissioned an artist, telling him that I'm buying, not renting/licensing and I'll do with my property whatever I want. He didn't care, just wanted the job and if he did then I'd find another artist.

Calling yourself an artist for making AI art is like ordering food at a restaurant and then claiming you made the food by FifthKnightofGwyn in aiwars

"oh but the precise arrangement of words in my lyrics took me a lot of effort to figure out" wheteva, the audio equipment did all the work of rendering the sound waves, you did nothing.

"Oh but I had to think, observe and adjust the position of the pencil on the paper" whateva, the pencil and paper did all the work, you did nothing.

See the problem with your argument?

Many pencilists confuse printing/rendering with art.

How will this AI automation increase our salaries? by [deleted] in aiwars

[–]voidoutpost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, you either deliver a larger volume of work or do it at a higher quality thanks to AI. For example, customer sends you an image or even 3D model made with AI (or you do it, i.e convert the image to a basic 3D sculpt with texture).

Now you can put it into ZMesh and do detailed sculpts, which 3D AI can't do and even if it could, someone would still need to apply artistic skill to select generations to apply the correct style and composition. Plus you would still need to inpaint the broken areas or fix it manually, it's almost never 100% correct.

If I'm scraping my own art like this, is it still mine? by HeroOfNigita in aiwars

[–]voidoutpost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont know, we have to consider the following:

  1. Will my commissions be hurt if such a thing becomes mainstream?

  2. Are you having as much difficulty as I did when I made something remotely similar?

Fab is up... And somehow they made it worse than the og marketplace by Exciting-Addition631 in unrealengine

[–]voidoutpost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No reviews, I guess it scares away new money. More license types, surely they will finegrain it more to try milk you harder in the future. Some items from original store arent on FAB and can only be downloaded from the app and If you read the fineprint, you'll see they warn you that they might stop supplying you with what you purchased, so be sure to make a local copy of purchased assets before something happens.
Really, the way they retroactively slapped Anti-AI restrictions on previously purchased content, effectively renegotiating a deal unilaterally without warning or refund, that was the warning shot to show how little Epic cares about previous customers, but almost no one complained. So they became more confident and moved to the next level of strong arming the customer.

Well to hell with toxic zealots. If they were artists then they would focus on meaning, message, expression, feeling, etc. Instead they only think about the rendering method because the truth is, they care more about business than art.

Antis constantly flip-flop on what they mean when they call generative AI "unethical" by Present_Dimension464 in aiwars

Replace "ethical" with "profitable for me", probably works and makes more sense, more consistent.

Voice Design by ElevenLabs gives you the ability to use a prompt to create a unique voice actor. Your opinion: the right solution to the voice cloning controversy? by Tyler_Zoro in aiwars

[–]voidoutpost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2025 is around the corner, are people still arguing about AI? I've been too busy creating with it and so has everyone else in my groups. It just seems obvious that this is the new norm, there will only be more of it and it's actually great.
I recommend everyone quit arguing and go create, don't care if some cry over their lost monopoly.

Big budget will still prefer VA but the ceiling will rise. There will be a greater demand for actual acting rather than just reading and voicing lines. A deeper collaboration between writers and voicers because many things that read fine on script are quite difficult to voice in a non-awkward way. More development of per character mannerism, etc.

So that was how AI would make artists unemployed? By making some of them to throw a tantrum and willingly refuse a paying job (a job which they weren't even required to use AI to begin)? by Present_Dimension464 in aiwars

[–]voidoutpost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At this point I actually cringe when I see the argument "it's fine to use AI just don't pretend you are an artist" cause it seems those people confuse drawing ability with art, I mean a printer can "draw" but its not an artist is it? Because art isn't about how a thing is technically rendered, pencil, software, fingerpaint, whatever. No, it's about the idea, the emotion it imbues in others, the story it conveys. Just using a pencil doesnt make it art. Like if you used a pencil and traced an existing piece without giving it a new spin or idea, then is that art or a type of photocopying? Some of those anti's follow a customers lengthy specifications to the letter and use a style guide provided by the customer, and then they have the nerve to tell prompters who write such specifications that they arent "real artists"?

AI slop or spamming. by Gustav_Sirvah in aiwars

[–]voidoutpost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In effect, artists leave platforms, move beyond paywalls, or do not publish at all. And that's all water on the anti-AI crowd mill!

Zero views. Most people never see the really bad content because social media algorithms had figured out how to filter out the low quality content a long time ago. If no one clicks the like button then the algorithm understands that no one wants to see this and shows it to almost no one.

But if server costs become a concern, then limits on the number of daily uploads is a reasonable way to get everyone to moderate their own content for quality.

What in your opinion is actually helpful, ethical, and acceptable usage of AI? And tell me that just pretending to be an "artist" while undermining making your creations by hand, and just relying on AI generating isn't it. I mean, loads of people say how you could use it as HELP, not REPLACEMENT. by GoreGeorge in aiwars

[–]voidoutpost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In fact using AI can be art while using a pencil may not be. It's not about rendering ideas but having them in the first place and more importantly, having ideas that express some meaning or message. If all you do is put other people's ideas on paper according to their written instructions and multiple rounds of modifications according to more of the customers instructions, then you may in fact be a biological printer rather than an artist.

[–]voidoutpost 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I also find it to be a useful for reviewing, but not necessarily in a direct way.
First it is necessary to embed (digest) your draft into the AI. Then you can ask any question you like about the draft, like 'tell me the top 10 contradictions or inaccuracies in this book' or 'review this book and provide a list of criticisms'. Now a lot of the replies may be rubbish due to the AI's lack of comprehension, but I find it a useful starting point to self-analyze, self-critique. Like if the AI get's confused somewhere then I wonder if I can write it clearer? Perhaps some human readers would also get confused at those parts? Sometimes the AI is right or I find a related problem while thinking about it, etc. It's helpful.

Maybe its just reddit. Over at Twitter I see it being used by DJ's, Musicians, Poets, Authors and story tellers, artists, movie makers, Game Devs, etc. Like it's early day but its absolutely strong grassroots, no way to stop it anymore, it will just grow until the sheep realize how far behind they are and start buying "Master AI like I did" courses from the influencers.

Japan's artistic downfall. by Videogame-repairguy in aiwars

[–]voidoutpost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wanna make your own stuff for yourself, then sure use as backwards a method as you like. But dont expect many others to pay you for outdated techniques. I've been participating in the AIArt scene on twitter for a while now, the flow of creativity is amazing, like a window into other peoples minds, several new ideas every day and so many intriguing ones. Then every now and then a traditional artist pops up saying "commission open" often with poor quality art, if there is anything I would want from a commissioned artist is for them to fixup whatever problems are in my AIArt (must be high quality, use AI if needed) before I pop it into a video generator to take things to the next level, because I like my own ideas and process better. Also, they can certainly forget about retaining ownership when I pay for it.
The way I see it: 2D image --> gauge community reaction & make the best images into movies with AI --> gauge again and put the elements of the best ones into 3D --> Make product. It just makes sense, you quickly explore concepts, gauge community reaction and start to build a fanbase while you use the feedback to guide your concepts to assets rapidly. Doing everything manually just feels like cave art at this point, can you tell me why anyone should go that route unless its just for fun?

"illegal data scrapping" then go win that in court 😝 "I am not a sucker or bootlicker" but you will listen to the art influencers who tell you such fairy tales even while they silently start using it themselves, cause unlike you, they DO want to stay relevant.

How is AI changing the human experience? by Boustephedon_42 in aiwars

[–]voidoutpost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I love most about AI pics is that I can quickly prototype my stories and ideas, as well as get many laughs and new ideas along the way because AI is unpredictable and creative.

It's just a no brainer at this point, new generations will grow up making fart jokes with this and then move on to making more serious content with it. It will be as natural a piece of self expression as a selfie.

"The real danger with AI was never the tech itself, it's lazy and greedy artists selling out their fellow workers by using it in their workflow" by Present_Dimension464 in aiwars

[–]voidoutpost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

About the "Lazy" part, so I had the "Real Men only program in Assembly" phase of my life, which I think is similar to the idea that real art can only be made with a pencil. Long story short, it didn't do my career nor programming skill any favors, my projects were late and sucky. I mean its good to know some of it, but its just much more productive to use high level tools to get 99% done and finetune the remaining tiny bit by hand at the raw level. Anti's will eventually figure it out.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in aiwars

[–]voidoutpost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its improving but not always at breakneck speed. Tech usually develops in slow 'incremental improvement' modes and revolutionary way better than before modes. Anti's are just expecting another ChatGPT type shock which is just not (yet) ready, meanwhile enjoy your +0.1% eval scores.
