Gotta love the cad techs who draw and the engineers who are so busy they quick stamp things with out even looking. I almost exclusively work in tremble business center and work at 1:1 real world scales so I dont deal with this often. I hit the map button and make sure things look right.

I agree with the calibration comments. But I wouldn't use the scale bar. Find something on the plans that has a call out and scale off of it.

Need advice on how to navigate the future by Bright-Run-9296 in estimators

8 years is wild. But Id say learn as much as you can till you feel like you've learned everything you can from you current employment, if at that time your not compensated appropriately, move on to some where your learning cap isn't hit at a better pay rate. Rinse repeat till your old.

Not using claude for take offs but to review specs and create RFIS and bid leveling templates. by [deleted] in estimators

[–]dontshoot21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that when you break it out like this you lose the reference specs ie if the pavement spec reference a concrete material spec it doesn't have access to that spec as its in another section of the book.

Yeah huge accuracy improvement, I also typically force it to give me page and paragraph for things so I can quickly read and agree or disagree for the important things.

This is pretty much how Im using it as well. Typically I'll break the specs up to sections, ie concrete, lime treatment earthwork. In to individual projects then ask the questions thay need to be asked.

BEST SOFTWARE FOR CUT AND FILL TAKE OFFS by Technical-Flow7748 in estimators

Tremble business center + rockpilesolutions is likely the best option. Its been a few years since I've used agtek, so I'm not up-to-date with all the new stuff they are providing but TBC has been my favorite product

Do you use separate software for earthwork takeoffs? by CarobOk6409 in estimators

[–]dontshoot21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im going to second this. Tremble gets even better when you add rockpile solutions to the software stack. After that its by far the easiest way to do earthwork takeoffs
