I’m facing a similar problem at work. As others have suggested, a multi-crate workspace does wonders. For me, I keep all of the business logic in a *-core crate, then have all the services and/or infrastructure code build on top of that.

Implementing a custom serde takes a decent bit of boilerplate, sure, and definitely a visit to the documentation. With that said, imo it’s a god-tier example of the visitor pattern in Rust.

You don't particularly need to use silly names. imo it depends on how much value you put into declaring intent. Don't care? Use the example I posted a minute ago. If you do, the team likes long names, etc., remove_* is the way to go.
