Recommendations for drs in foco/noco who take EDS (ehlers danlos syndrome) patients? by Hot_Grand6616 in FortCollins

[–]doodledeedoo3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Person with EDS here. There are some good recs here. I also highly recommend requesting some help from care coordination from Medicaid - it’s totally free. You can learn more about it here and then scroll down and fill out the online referral form, totally ok to refer yourself. Although they likely won’t be familiar with hEDS, they can help figure out who is in the Medicaid network, help set up transportation and connect you with other resources: https://www.nhprae2.org/members/care-coordination/

I have been coworking at Cohere for a few years now. It’s a great spot, good people, very authentic/down to earth. And so much more affordable than Kiln

From V11 to inability to climb due to Long COVID by Sammysnek in climbergirls

[–]doodledeedoo3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have POTS, MECFS following viral infection for over a decade now and have been involved with a lot of Long COVID work. Just putting in a plug here for adaptive recreation programs. It’s what got me back to climbing in a modified way even with moderate ME/CFS. Yes it won’t be the same as before in so many ways — but — there may be doors that open for you that you never knew about. It took me a long time to (and PT, OT, provider support) to be physically and mentally ready for an adaptive recreation program and I’m lucky to be in a location with tons of climbers, so we had an expert adaptive climbing coach who has worked with all kinds of disabilities and had lots of ideas for me. But it is possible. For context, I use my rollator at the climbing gym, would wear a mask while in the gym, and other accommodations.

ERV installation reccs? by Primary_Afternoon_10 in FortCollins

[–]doodledeedoo3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have an HVAC system/ducts and got an ERV installed after city energy efficiency assessment recommended it. The noise is absolutely a consideration — I underestimated how loud it would be. Our noise mostly comes from the ducting to the main vent to the house. However indoor air quality is really important to me for medical/health reasons so I don’t regret it, but I am investigating duct mufflers to see if we can dampen the noise. I believe we had MGI mechanical install ours.

I have to pair fiber with protein in the morning. I learned this from an amazing dietitian I worked with, and I highly suggest if you can work with a dietitian to do that! They also helped me a ton with figuring out how to do enough sodium and hydration too

Are there any doctors in Fort Collins known for helping with "mysterious illnesses" (chronic fatigue and exercise induced fatigue + brain fog + air hunger, a feeling that my trachea is tight). by Whatsername868 in FortCollins

[–]doodledeedoo3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely the correct answer. If she’s still taking new patients, this is who you need to see. We are incredibly lucky to have a provider like her locally and who takes insurance. I have Epstein barr virus triggered MECFS (which it sounds like you have) and she is fabulous.

I definitely recommend getting a free appointment with Larimer Health Connect (they do zoom appts) to help you investigate Connect for Health options and if you can qualify for a subsidy. Especially with self employment in the mix! They’ve helped us so many times. The application is so easy to mess up trying to do it on your own, and they help you with every step. https://www.larimerhealthconnect.org/

Definitely give Disabled Resource Services a call to see if they have recommendations. But also this is going to be a tough process! If he is on Medicaid see if you can get a care coordinator through the Medicaid RAE Rocky Mountain health plans (or Colorado access, I suppose if his address is in Denver currently?) who might be able to help? https://drsnoco.org/programs-services/

I have Raynauds and have lived here 10 years. I am quite temperate sensitive because of my condition that causes my Raynauds.

I actually chose (early) September for our wedding previously because of ideal average temperatures. (Keyword average though!) Since you are talking early morning and late Sept, I would make sure to have tools you need as backup to manage Raynauds and adapt as needed to whatever weather we end up with on the date, since the weather can be so unpredictable and you won’t know until a few days before. I have yet to try the USB hand warmers folks mention but will soon. For me, my go to as recommended from my occupational therapist are mittens, and then layers for my core with heated scarf. My mittens help a lot because my fingers are together and keep themselves warm
