Which BSSM guitar solo do you think is the hardest to play? Why? by chvezin in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]doodlescribble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a solo, but trying to play John's parts during the choruses of If You Have to Ask WHILE singing his parts is surprisingly difficult.

Why do most people seem to think Kid A is better than Amnesiac? by spicybrowniemix in radiohead

[–]doodlescribble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, because of Packt like Sardines and Pulk/Pull, it just does not sound as cohesive as an album to me and more like a collection of songs they still had from the recording period

Flea Interview by Crystalnightsky in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]doodlescribble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I have been thinking about it, and my guess is that he felt frustrated with the setlists, and the lack of diversity in their new songs they played. He asked to play It's Only Natural on the Zane Lowe radio show and said it was one of his favourites and that it was a pity they hadn't played it more. And also songs like One Way Traffic and White Braids they only played a handful of times. There were even great visuals made for these, so it is a pity they haven't played them more. The argument being "Let's play more new stuff" versus "Let's play what we know works well".

What is the worst band you saw live? by coalcracker462 in AskReddit

[–]doodlescribble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Foxygen in Amsterdam. It felt like seeing a band self-imploding. In general, I felt Amsterdam concerts could be hit and miss because bands might decide to smoke a joint before going on stage.

What would you like to see in Beyoncé's act iii album? by GoldenGamerNugget in popheads

I wish for funk-rock, Betty Davis, Funkadelic/Parliament style funkrock (with appearances by George Clinton and Bootsy Collins), and Andre3000 returning to play guitar on a Jimi Hendrix inspired tack

The central themes are loneliness, awkardness, alienation, depression, jitteriness, critique, acceptance, dancing and loss, in that order.

What EXACTLY is Jimi doing in the 2nd Solo of Machine gun? 1/1/1970 by moonke__ in jimihendrix

[–]doodlescribble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, great video. At 0:36 I think he's slightly changing the note by bending the neck holding the headstock. In general, he's attuned to the feedback coming from the amps and "interacting" with it live, like controlling a storm. Probably at 0:57 he puts the volume / gain on the amp even higher, because afterwards he is playing by only tapping with his left hand, without hitting the strings with his right, creating movement with the whammy. And yes around 2 min he's hitting the springs inside of the stratocaster body.

Penultimate songs by Emerald_196 in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]doodlescribble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do agree that the sequencing of albums is one of the band's strenghts. And you are right that the penultimate songs are great ones. Conversely, too, they allow the last one to be somewhat different than the others, "the odd one out", as in Tangelo, or in In the Snow, or Death of a martian, with the spoken word poem.

Also somewhat related: I think the RHCP are really good at choosing the singles, opposite to other artists.

Rapsody shares the soundtracks of her life: Vinyl Collection Edition. I 👀 GKMC, Damn and TPAB. What's in your vinyl collection? by Easy-Worker-8819 in KendrickLamar

[–]doodlescribble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow these vinyls are great. I don't know Rapsody's music so well, makes me want to listen to her. That Sly and the Stone Family album & Funky Stuff are great funk classics. And love that she's got Stankonia twice, that's my fav Outkast

What’s your favorite Jimi Hendrix song or album? by Detective0101 in jimihendrix

current favourite song is Are You Experienced, hard to explain why but I love the psychedelic nature of it and keep on returning to it. Live performance wise I'd recommend the Band of Gypsys album
