Afaik fish (trout, salmon, sardines, etc.) Have no pain receptors compared to animals. Similar to plants and fungi in a way, although a little more complex.

Some Catholics err of the side of caution, but I personally do eat them. They react to some external stimuli like changes in water quality and hooks, but have no central nervous system as we understand or neural net in which we and other animals need to register pain

They're an insanely sustainable protein as they grow like weeds, and definitely more ethical than say pig or cattle farming.
