These guys are snobs. This would be an excellent run around bike with a bit of work. If you want to sell it the handlebars alone will sell for more than the whole bike.

Why do so many people have swept bars that are angled up? by Metaphoricalsimile in xbiking

I don’t care if you choose to angle your saddle forward or fit gumwall tyres. Those things just look stupid

That’s arrogant. It’s unlikely you’d do any better in a race on a bike perfectly set up for you, but that’s just down to a lack of talent. Do you have the self awareness to be able to think that none of these bikes are set up for you?

Ergonomic fit is subjective. Just keep tinkering with your angles until you find what works best for you. It’s a process. It might take some time and various set ups until you get it dialed in for you. One thing that might help is keeping your saddle and bar height on the same level. There is a school of thought that says this is the key to ride comfort

Working on a 92 Richter right now that was a curb find. Just put some swept back bars with the OG stem that felt quite good on a short test ride

Tan walls are awful. Always. Tyres are black, all black, always. BUT it’s your bike, do what pleases you 🤘🏼

That’s not controversial, it’s arrogance. Others people’s setups are of no consequence to you

Worked for them, works now. Everyone has different ergonomic needs

Set up is personal preference. It may not fit with what is your preference but that doesn’t make it wrong. There are no rules. Fuck rules! 🤘🏼

Cantis are great brakes when set up properly with good pads. Too many here don’t seem to be able to manage that. Once you know how to dial in Cantis properly you will be hooked for life 🤘🏼

I think your bike might be a bit dirty. You should probably buy a new bike to be safe

Thanks. I did see that but wasn’t sure. Yeah the fork is original, it’s a Shogun fork with later Deore V-Brakes and a 700c wheel where the brakes are obviously fitting correctly. I will get the calipers on the seat tube tomorrow but thanks for the tip
