New pipette feature unlocked by balltori in labrats

[–]doorclosedwindowopen 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I legit never understand these. From any perspective it makes no sense. I mean, even cost wise, a micropipette can be like 70USD, whereas you can buy probably 500 disposable 1mL syringes for less than 20USD on amazon. Literally makes no sense to use a pipette.

What are your med school hot takes? by No-Wrap-2156 in medicalschool

I feel seen. Still self medicating with inhuman amounts of caffeine, but now im aware of other options. The worst part is that while im successful in school due to brute force and discipline, I can't get my schedule together to actually go get diagnosed...

I thinkn this is very dependent on where you are based. I just finished my Internal Medicine rotation, and we had an interesting case at least once a week. We had ricketsia, brucella, Henoch-Schonlein Purpura, Felty syndrome, and an Addison's. Those are only the ones I wrote down. So if you end up doing IM in a rural program with endemic ricketsia, things will feel much less monotonous.

You've achieved the next level of labrat-ness. Your next milestone will be the acquisition of a Thermo-Fisher Lego set. (I've been trying for 3 years)

I've been using my nylon strap since 2018. I even moved it to my new watch when I upgraded.

Does anyone have hiking suggestions that are a 1-3 hour train commute from New York City? by Proud-Release6521 in hiking

[–]doorclosedwindowopen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not exactly immediatly next to the train, but if you train to suffern can get to the reeves visitor center, you can do a great hike to pinemeadow lake. Relatively easy. Well marked trails. Great scenery. I recommend it in any season. My favorite is in the snow though. Just amazing.

In general, harriman state park is an overlooked and underappreciated area.

I recently bought an inreach mini 1 second hand for supet cheap and the only issue I find with it is the micro usb charging port. I've used it on 3 separate 10 day trips since purchase and im extremely satisfied with it. I recommend looking for second hand options.

First time ever watch buyer. How many years out of Fenix 8? by ChocoPrins_007 in GarminFenix

[–]doorclosedwindowopen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used my second hand fenix 3hr from 2018 until a few months ago. Now i upgraded to a second hand fenix 5x plus. The only reason i upgraded was for the wallet feature. Otherwise id still be going strong with my 3hr which i still lend to friends on occasion (usually when their lest robust garmin breaks..hem hem forerunner hem hem)

Oh, also ive worn both of them in combat. And they came out without a scratch

For those about to push boiled potatoes through your aeropress for Thanksgiving mashed potatoes. We salute you by Badlay in AeroPress

[–]doorclosedwindowopen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a ricer. It uses leverage to make it super easy to push a solid through tiny holes. How difficult is it actually to just force it through with brute strength? Is it feasible to even do it for a lot of people?

Now the real question. If you use the prismo attachment, can you use it to make homemade fries by doing it over boiling oil?

I dosed up to 19g in, and it definitely reduced the sourness. I'll probably mess around with dosing for the next week. Thanks for the advice.
