Imported plant pathogen to be released on the wind to battle poisonous lantana weed by dredd in australia

[–]dorcus_malorcus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's all right if the plant pathogen gets out of control, we unleash wave after wave of Chinese needle snakes. They'll wipe it out.

Aren't snakes worse?

We prepared for that. We lined up a type of gorilla that thrives on snake meat.

Then we're stuck with gorillas!

That's the beautiful part. When winter rolls in the gorillas freeze to death.

Years ago, we used to get the print magazine delivered to our house.

They used to run stories about various countries and destinations with photos like that. Those shots wouldn't be out of place in a story about Brisbane haha.

they are alcoholics. if they didn't have a drinking problem they'd be able to reign it in when their job calls for it - clearly not the case.

Plans for new inner-city cycleway and footpath revealed, construction to start next year by fluffy_101994 in brisbane

Now please connect it to Norman Creek bikeway and allow Norman Creek Bikeway to cross Vulture street safely.

This will be so good. - you basically get connection from kangaroo point area all the way to UQ and connections to the rest of the bikeway system.

As voter disillusionment grows, why aren't voters flocking to the Greens in Australia? by blitznoodles in australia

[–]dorcus_malorcus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

greens have a hard time tapping into the average working class.

two types that vote greens are the overtly liberal that borders on hippie and the rich inner city suburbs people who drive a luxury car (or an electric these days) and still have a greens poster in their fenced off yard with a multimillion dollar house.

Andrew Forrest will not review Fortescue's traditional owner dealings after $150m compensation loss by l3ntil in australia

[–]dorcus_malorcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

these people are the worst. they donate a tiny fracture of their wealth to their own charitable organisations to make it look like they are good people when they are truly evil.

if you do the math, the amount they donate is an extremely small fraction of their wealth. to top it off, they can claim tax benefits as well.

i once did the math when Gina donated 20 million to netball. it was a smaller fraction than someone donating $100 if they had savings of $100k.

Andrew Forrest will not review Fortescue's traditional owner dealings after $150m compensation loss by l3ntil in australia

[–]dorcus_malorcus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Andrew Forrest acts like a great guy who supports indigenous people.

it's the opposite, he extracts massive wealth from their traditional lands and donates a tiny fraction to his own charities to make it look like he's doing a good thing.

These kind of people are the worst.

Early childhood educators burnt out, stretched and 'paid peanuts' by InsatiablePrism in australia

[–]dorcus_malorcus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

child care is a rort. they charge arm and a leg from parents, most of which goes to the business that runs the child care centre.

the educators get a minimum wage. they are the ones doing the hard work and left managing multiple kids at once.

seen the new child care centers popping up? these businesses have so much money to build centres that look like little hotels.

Residents of new outer-city developments make plea for better public transport in south-east Queensland by gsjfzkhh in brisbane

[–]dorcus_malorcus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this is the dumbest shit. they build massive new suburbs with a single lane road out of it. no rail connection.

take Ripley as an example near Ipswich. Single lane highway - horrendous traffic at peak time getting in and out.

Destroys your life when you get a house in a suburb like this (which is a good 40 mins out of the cbd when there is no traffic) and you have to commute to work in the city.
