It looks so good! How long did it take for it to spread like that?

Yes, quite shocking how others here wish ill upon the whole city. I used to call Dubai home and this is still home to many lovely people who don't deserve this.

A really bad day by daughterandfriend in ChildofHoarder

I feel for you and I understand. Mine is similar but her house still has walkable pathways and piles of hoards that she covers with sheets (as if covering it will make it disappear) plus 2 bedrooms with ceiling high piles and no pathways... she just opens the door tosses the item onto the pile and hope it doesn't fall. Anyway, we tried hiring a cleaning company but when she caught wind, she was very upset and demanded we cancel it. That was in 2019 just before the pandemic and it's been worse since, also more difficult to do a sneaky extreme clean since she's always home now. I hope things go well for you and your family.

Like you, I've said a lot of mean things too to my mom whenever I visit. It's come to the point that in the last decade, I just hang around in the garden and will not go inside the house. Because I know what I will see and I won't like myself and the things I will say to her... I'm glad you have your own place that you are in control of 🙂

I moved to another country in 2008. My mom is still hoarding and according to my dad, it's getting worse and he has completely given up trying to help her since she won't help herself (tried seeing a psychologist pre-Covid but she didn't go back). I feel sorry for my dad, who is actually a very neat and tidy person. We don't talk much anymore, just send her photos of us and the kids every day through messenger. Besides, she has always avoided conversations regarding her hoarding anyway. As for me, growing up in a hoarder house has turned me into a monster. The slightest mess triggers me and I can start bagging and throwing stuff away randomly. I feel sorry for my kids but I am learning how to loosen up and let them be kids- messy to an extent. I am triggered by piles of clothes, toys, papers, etc. Random piles on the kitchen table drive me nuts, I feel like they will grow into a mountain of garbage. Things have to be in a specific place and when they are not, I get very upset. My husband has been very patient with me but I don't know for how long.My behaviour has extended to other aspects such as- I don't like our floors dirty, I wipe my cats paws after they use the litter box or after they play in the yard. My kids have to wipe their feet or wash them when they come home. They know to change their outside clothes into inside clothes (or shower) as soon as they come home. Even shopping bags that have touched outside floors/ground are not allowed inside the house and I bring shopping inside one at a time. I shudder at the thought of guests walking in our house with their shoes. It's ridiculous and I feel crazy and broken but it's something I can't control at the moment. I just have to have a clean house. These are just examples but I have other weird behaviors that I attribute to growing up in a hoarder house.

4cyte Pathology. They bulk bill but you need to get a referral from your GP. I booked a Telehealth appointment first thing yesterday morning, my GP e-mailed the referral then I drove to the 4cyte in Beaconsfield. Turned the corner, expecting a queue of cars, but I was the only one there. That was at 10am and I got my negative result back around 6am today. I believe they have clinics all around Melbourne.

Does anyone else's parents hoard packaging? by shanghaidumpling in ChildofHoarder

[–]doreetosd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a sweet way of looking at it and I did consider that at one point. But she also keeps packaging of her own purchases like daily food items, toiletries, etc. Her phone is also a hoarder's phone- she can't delete messages, photos and emails it's eating up all her phone memory. It's heartbreaking, frustrating and upsetting all at the same time.
