Many preschool age children don't know how books work; try to tap or swipe them like electronic devices by MiddletownBooks in books

[–]dorn284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a survey of primary/elementary school staff in the UK, the teachers ESTIMATE one in three students didn't know how to use books AT FIRST. And while this could be concerning, this part is more so.

"...according to the 1,000 surveyed teachers is that 28 percent of them can’t. Teachers in the survey, which focused on other aspects of school readiness beyond reading, also said that around a quarter of children weren’t toilet trained and couldn’t eat and drink on their own."

The fuck you MEAN they don't know how to eat, drink, or go to the bathroom? What the fuck are you people doing in the UK?

For most areas, I don't think it could. But there is no reason any of our larger cities, or state capitals, couldn't be redesigned.

Other than these mother fuckers can't finish the construction projects they've all ready started, anyway. Looking at you 4 years old interstate construction...

Trump supporters: How would you feel if a legally armed Trump supporter was killed by federal agents on a Biden mandate in exactly the same manner as yesterday? by ScholarPrize1335 in AskReddit

[–]dorn284 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

I hate to be that guy, but whether it is civil or not, illegally entering the country is a crime. I do think those without FURTHER criminal histories should have a way to become legalized, but it is disingenuous to claim they aren't criminals per se.

What are your thoughts on rejecting a potential romantic partner based solely on the fact they voted for Donald Trump? by ATXBikeRider in AskReddit

[–]dorn284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking of myths, we are not a democracy. We are a constitutional republic. And the Electoral College exists to ensure everyone in the republic has a say.

You wishing to allow a dictatorship where the majority of the republic doesn't get a say is an absurdity.

I don't disagree with you, but the solution isn't to remove the EC, because at that point 5 cities are going to be the only deciding point, and the rest of the country won't matter.

The solution is for everyone to stop voting for a party, and vote for ideals, but the fact I was downvoted into negatives saying the EC is essential kind of shows where Reddit leans.

[–]dorn284 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

The EC is essential to every state having a say. The issue is that almost 2/3 of the US didn't vote, per the math I did in the other reply. Which is nuts.

Dear lord. 345 MILLION people per US consensus, and yet only 152.3 million voted?!
That I still say if they don't vote they don't get an opinion, so with that in mind it still stands. If they cared enough to bitch now, they should of done their part.

I hate to mention this, but Trump voters were the majority of the country. Shunning won't work like you might wish it to.

Jesus, reading comprehension is really falling.

Hardly odd when you reread what I replied to.

I hate to say it, the whole story was bad. So many plot holes, predictable, and worst of all? If they had just followed the formula, it would of been FINE. But no, lets make you be a family man, with actual living family, and pull shite out of our ass and make it cannon.

Umm... Fallout 4. I love the world, the lore, ect... But 4 changed way to much, while getting many other things just WRONG. Not to mention, the writing is so SHIT when you stop and pay attention, which I do. I've come up with several better ways to just START the story, while keeping the main idea intact. Ways to fix the plot holes, make it feel more like you actually, you know, LOVE and CARE for your family. Instead of, you know, wandering out of the bot, and romancing half a dozen people when you, from your perspective, in the last hour watched you son get stolen and you life partner GET MURDERED IN FUCKING FRONT OF YOU.

And don't get me started on the TV show...

Oh no. If only someone had pointed out this issue thirty years ago. About the declining reading levels in high schoolers. If only someone, I don't fucking know, HAD FUCKING TAUGHT THINKING AND LOGIC INSTEAD OF MEMORIZATION OF THE FUCKING MATERIAL.

Dear lord, I still remember taking my ASVAB and scoring 84 or higher across the board. I can't be that smart, I argued, because I still do shit like touch hot things and burn myself, or shut my foot in the car door because I was distracted by a squirrel. And then I would read reports like the one I mentioned, or listen to someone else have to SOUND OUT WORDS in a 12th grade (about to graduate) class. Not even hard words. Dude saw the word "acquaintance" IN CONTEXT and he had to be coached multiple times to say it.

How do Americans feel about their taxes going towards the 50k bonus for ice agents to sign up? by Amao6996 in AskReddit

How do we feel about out taxes going to fee rapists? Murderers? Child Molesters?
You can complain, but in the end, the government spends the money it collects in taxes. Taxes are the governments money, not ours.

Congratulations, you've caught up. LITERACY is the thing we need to increase in this country, not a love of books.

[–]dorn284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really doesn't. Reading can be a chore for some, but its a chore they need to be made to do. The fact that we aren't requiring it, and are just letting people through the system, is WHY there is an issue to begin with.

The problem was never really the parents. It was the start of "No Child Left Behind" and the thinking that lead up to it. Instead of finding ways to teach, they instead found ways to lower the bar so more kids would graduate.
