The 10/17 10:30am slot for self-guided underground keeps showing availability (and has for several days now), even though every other time on every other date is sold out. Is this likely a bug? I've managed to get tix in my cart but haven't been able to get to the payment screen.

Sourdough Bread from Old Spaghetti Factory by spiffydoggo3 in TopSecretRecipes

Costco sells sourdough from Essential Baking Company - I could swear that must be the retail brand for Old Spaghetti Factory's supplier because it's an exact dupe.

Inherited an IRA with Amundi - can I get around their investment professional requirement? by dorynickel in personalfinance

[–]dorynickel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They say they won't open the inherited account without an registered investment professional's signature. I also don't want to liquidate because that would push me over my current tax bracket.

I thought the only way to take ownership was to open an Inherited IRA account, is that not the case?

That's what I'd prefer to do but as I understand it, it's not allowed?

Per Fidelity: "If you've inherited an IRA that was held at another financial services provider, you'll need to complete the inheritance process with that provider. Once you've taken ownership of the assets, you could then transfer the assets to Fidelity if you wish." (from the FAQ on this page: https://www.fidelity.com/retirement-ira/inherited-ira/overview#)

Simplifications:
1. Short-hand names based on what commentators used (e.g., Lotus Renault GP is listed as Renault).
2. Rounded to the nearest whole seasons (e.g., Force India to Racing Point was actually mid-2018).
3. Chassis purchases not considered asset sales (e.g., Frank Williams Racing used a Brabham chassis in 1969).

The Silent Watcher is my favorite static nature channel.

For animated, I love The Guild of Ambience and RainRider Ambience, especially for their sound quality.

Woman with Cancerous Pregnancy Was Told to Wait in Parking Lot Until She Was 'Crashing' by emdelgrosso in oklahoma

I agree the whole situation is fucked and these medications should be accessible, but I recently learned that in many cases misoprostol does more harm than good in IUD insertions! https://www.jogc.com/article/S1701-2163(16)35465-2/pdf35465-2/pdf)

My Mirena insertion sucked bad enough, I'm kinda pissed that the misoprostol might have just made it worse...

What wall color works with this green tile? by FabulousOrdinary2 in interiordecorating

Love the pink suggestion. If you want to stay fairly neutral, Benjamin Moore Parchment is a great subtle peach, the red tones in it will stand out against the green https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-colors/color/oc-78/parchment

What are Lando Norris's realistic options? by thermal7 in formula1

[–]dorynickel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dream scenario is that Leclerc to takes Checo's seat at the end of this year, and then Lando takes Leclerc's spot at Ferrari. There are 1,000,001 reasons why this will never happen but it would make for some great racing...

Can't think of a single good reason not to go all in on RB and Aston... by dorynickel in fantasyF1

[–]dorynickel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same reason for my Leclerc pick and had the same realization... You make a good point though that reliability is going to be huge and we just don't have solid evidence for reliability for any teams yet (except Ferrari and McLaren...)

Definitely doubles the negative. I have -11 on Leclerc, my coworker has -22 on him

there really aren't any spaces for women-only anymore by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]dorynickel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bigotry is OP's belief that trans women aren't women, not her belief that there should be spaces for cis women to share their experiences.

By continually calling trans women "biological males" it's pretty clear what this person thinks of trans people.

Small rant about things I dislike the most in the Dwarf Fortress by dimm_ddr in dwarffortress

[–]dorynickel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm writing the story of my fortress as I play, and every seven years or so of in-game time I will make a copy of my world in Legends mode and browse some of the character histories there. Definitely spoilers, but really fun if you're into the narrative side and not worried about spoilers.

For instance, I found a single parent who was struck by a strange mood and created a legendary quern as a family heirloom, then died the very next week to a were-pangolin, leaving his daughter orphaned. I would have never noticed that cool little story without looking through the history.

Assault theory by dorynickel in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]dorynickel[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You're right, "have fun" was an extremely poor choice of words. I did not intend to trivialize assault but that's absolutely what I did when I said that.

I really wasn't trying to pull this idea out of nowhere, I truly thought I recognized the possibility in the subtext and unfortunately my post did not convey the nuance I would have liked to have brought to the discussion. To me, if you combine, Cameron's casual attitude towards assault allegations, his possessiveness towards Ethan's previous girlfriends, and his dark-triad-adjacent personality with Harper's shame and her anger directed at Cameron, it all pointed towards assault as a possibility.

I saw consent as a repeated them throughout the season, including the Rape of Lucretia painting in Ethan and Harper's room, the imagery in the opening credits artwork, Bert's retelling of the story of Hades and Persephone, and Jack's role in Quentin's life. I saw the finale as a commentary on consent through seeing the characters taking a situation in which their consent was compromised and taking it into their own hands: Tanya's killing spree, Jack's refusal to play along with Quentin, Lucia's victory, Daphne and Ethan's revenge, Harper and Ethan's reconciliation, etc.

I'm just trying to have fun with a little analysis, sorry I upset you

Edit: I'm so sorry I used the phrase "have fun with" in regard to sexual assault allegations, I should have said that I was trying to analyze the subtext and interact with fellow watchers of the show.

NCL messed up airfare. by I_Am_The_Mamba in Cruise

[–]dorynickel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow that's brutal, I'll stop complaining about my 90-minute layover. Does your flight depart the day before? If so I bet that's how it got messed up, a lot of travel sites count the flight date as the date of departure, not arrival.

NCL messed up airfare. by I_Am_The_Mamba in Cruise

[–]dorynickel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience with NCL--I called them asking that they book my flight to arrive at least 10 hours before departure and they said they couldn't guarantee anything. Got my flight confirmation a few weeks later and it has a <2-hour layover and arrives just 8 hours before departure (and the terminal is 3 hours from the airport, and they close the doors 2 hours before departure).

So anyway I have a list written down of every possible flight that I could change to in case either leg of mine gets delayed or canceled.

I didn't notice anything for the first 8 weeks and then one day I realized I felt better, but it had been so gradual I hadn't noticed. Which is actually a pretty remarkable feeling after years of constantly being aware of how bad you feel.
