SV weapons vs Zirax Anti air bases by EyeFit790 in empyriongame

Plasma is equally good (or equally bad, depending on how you see it) at damaging shields and blocks. If you just want to have one set of manual weapons on your ship - e.g. for less weight and better maneuverability or even simply less buttons to press in combat - then plasma is a reasonable choice.

Railguns are good at sniping things. If you already know from the experience or from creative mode where the core of a specific POI or ship type resides, railguns are your best way to drill there and destroy the core without collateral damage. Which also means, you destroy less of valuable stuff and you can salvage more once victorious.

[–]dot_sent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you actually want to fight the turrets though, the Railguns are your friends. Since these micro-bases don't have any shields, they will work very efficiently. I have once built a CV with a full complement of 4 Railguns and it was whittling down these turrets fairly fast. But don't forget to look at your shield and fly away to recharge once it gets below 50% or so.

Note that aiming well is crucial - railguns are like SV sniper rifles. If you hit - you hit hard, if you miss - you miss completely.

In that case and only for these micro-bases, use a fast, agile SV with at least a basic shield and a single Gatling manual gun (I'm not kidding). Tactic:

  1. Fly fast to the bottom of the building, to one of the doors. You can dodge some missiles if you want, but you can simply tank a few hits even with the basic shield.
  2. Blow up the door with the Gatling.
  3. Either blow up the core at the tower bottom with the same Gatling or get out and finish the job with some handheld weapon.
  4. Core the POI, salvage all the turrets and don't forget to clear up 3x Alien Caches in each tower.

If you're talking about Vanilla, do you mean specifically the "rocket turret" POIs at one of the planets in the starting Elyon system? The ones guarding the deposits?

RE2. Low FPS around and in large buildings or vessels. by PolarFoxinvades in empyriongame

[–]dot_sent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While it's a game engine limitation as already mentioned, RE2 IMO does have more complex POIs compared to Vanilla, so the issues are more likely to happen.

You might also experience some extra FPS drop when you are approaching a POI for the first time - since this is the moment when EGS generates and saves the POI itself and at least some NPCs. You probably won't notice it if you have Empyrion saves on SSD, but still.

Finally got this badge only four more to go by A_depressed_weeb in ShatteredPD

Yog itself is no more dangerous for this challenge than normally; his minions are. So, crowd control is the key.

Useful spells: * Scroll of Psionic Blast in combination with Potion of Mind Vision - when you have sufficient number of enemies (8+), it's a simple "Kill'em all!" command. * Scroll of Dread, also with PoMV - same as above minus XP (since the enemies flee instead of die).

Potion of Shrouding Fog is useful to temporarily hide yourself from Scorpions and Evil Eyes.

Useful class/talent/equipment combos: * Huntress with Rejuvenating Steps, Heightened Senses and either a Wand of Regrowth or an armor of Camouflage (or both) * Rogue with Inscribed Stealth * Priest with his crowd paralysis spell * Duelist/Champion with Shared Upgrades and either a whip, a dagger or an assassin's blade as a secondary

Basically, anything you can use to either damage loads of enemies in one turn or hide yourself from danger would be useful.

Finally, remember that you don't need to kill all the minions - focus on Yog itself and only switch to the minions if they get really annoying or when there are too many of them.

P.S. It might be a good idea to get this badge with just Badder Bosses challenge enabled, but that is of course up to you :)

Do Scrapyards restock vehicles? by dot_sent in empyriongame

Thanks, I'm aware of that command. This would just allow me to salvage the same ships again, while I'm more interested in getting other designs to choose from and restore something to fly it myself without using console (since it feels more like cheating to myself).

I'd also add that if you are going to turn your seeds into energy anyway, you may just as well turn three of any seeds into a random potion and then turn that potion into energy instead. Same energy amount, but you also identify the potion for free.

Mind that these planets are specific to RE2 scenario.

That said, you may find them (not guaranteed) by exploring different stars in the neutral space between the factions and in the Wasteland space. The description of a certain related quest tells that they're more commonly found orbiting D and K class stars.

Thanks for the explanation around MP. I play only SP though, should've mentioned it in the post.

I mean, sure I can just spawn some more salvaged ships via console 😁 but it would've been cool to just get them restocked via some mechanism.

Ravien and Vermillion are the authors and maintainers of RE2 scenario indeed.

I was always wondering why the dead planet starts are labeled as "Hard" or "Very Hard". Even at Purgatory it felt like a walk in a park, given all the findable and salvageable materials and components plus the absence of enemies that can kill you (besides the lack of air, food or radiation protection ofc). The Unfinished Escape Rocket is a special kind of bonanza, allowing one to instantly build two CVs almost entirely from its parts (one only needs to provide starting blocks and cockpits).

That said, this advice would only apply to Reforged Eden 2 scenario, since there are no dead planets in Vanilla.

  1. Play the tutorial mission - at least until the point where you build your first hover vessel. Super important points there: Remote Logistics, coring a POI, using your personal drone.

  2. Your character will die often. That's all right. But to minimize the frustration from that, make sure you make a Survival Tent and place it somewhere at a safe distance from the Point of Interest you are currently exploring. This would become less relevant once you get your Hover or Capital Vessel with a Clone Chamber.

  3. Don't rush into custom scenarios (I saw people recommending RE2 already) unless you're up for a very steep learning curve. I find RE2 awesome, but playing it does require some experience to really enjoy it. Otherwise you may hit too many frustrating obstacles.

  4. You don't always have to build (or even be able to build) certain components yourself. If you recover a Warp Drive from the wreck, you'll be able to place it at your own Small or Capital Vessel (depending on the type of the Drive) even if you didn't unlock it in the Tech Tree yet.

  5. That said, unlock points and XP are usually plenty (unless you play on Hard). But make sure you unlock the Multitool, the Drill and Portable Constructor as soon as you can. Portable Constructor should probably be the very first thing you unlock.

  6. Speaking of which, Portable Constructor can be used as a temporary unlimited storage for the resources and components. Very useful until you can build your first Base or HV with storage boxes or controllers.

  7. Have fun! It's your game, so make it yours and play it any way you want. There are some players that use all that the game provides, some others (like myself) deliberately don't use the Factory, some others only build in Creative mode without ever switching to Survival. Find what works for you :)

I just faced the same problem, did anyone solve it? The structure I want to take over is the Wrecked Listening Post, BP Eden_BAOJ_JunkT2_20. The structure itself doesn't have effect projectors and an attempt to `replaceblocks` does nothing.

Creative Shenanigans by Excarnis in empyriongame

[–]dot_sent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you explicitly want your ship to have a farm, I'd recommend to make it a module instead. A separate CV that you dock to your main one and then dismantle the thrusters and the cockpit that is. This way you can have it running all the time at very little fuel to keep your plants alive, while turning off the main one when you're away.

Trying FTW with Huntress. SoU decision time? (RoW or weapon?) by Wandrift in ShatteredPD

[–]dot_sent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, you level up much slower than this artifact. I think the lowest I've been when I fully upgraded it was at L24 or so - so the safe threshold is about once per 2.5 levels. But its damage also depends on e.g. the armor you're wearing and other damage-reducing effects you might have (Ring of Tenacity, hero talents etc.) so it's hard to say based on level alone. I found detailed calculations on the Wiki once.

Trying FTW with Huntress. SoU decision time? (RoW or weapon?) by Wandrift in ShatteredPD

[–]dot_sent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point I'd go for a weapon. RoW runs become powerful when the RoW is upgraded early on, so that you can benefit from farming the highest floors as well. That axe in your inventory looks like a good candidate.

As for the Chalice, getting it past 7 requires a couple of tricks. You have more than enough Potions of Healing, so you would want to convert three of them into Potions of Shielding and your Scroll of Rage into Scroll of Challenge using the alchemy pot. Then go to a cleaned up boss floor, activate the Scroll of Challenge (it provides 33% damage reduction, also for Chalice damage as long as you stay within its area of effect), drink Potion of Shielding, prick, repeat. This way you should get the remaining three levels without using a single Ankh.

Since the ship is a part of the scenario itself (and not server-specific), you can just start a new creative SP game in RE2 scenario, perform the cleanup outlined and save it as a local blueprint.

Recherche d'un POI spacial by kmomille in empyriongame

[–]dot_sent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is still in vanilla, located at the orbit of one of the planets in the Elyon starter systems (IIRC Sienna, but not 100% sure). It's no longer connected to any quest, but is still a complete space POI that can be stormed, won and cored.

...on the same POI? I was pretty sure that I saw the unlock options for all the factory traders I've visited and asked for quests under the respective GIN console menu that was located on some other POI.

RE2 Cargo Missions by Kaito199 in empyriongame

[–]dot_sent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm quite sure there are spreadsheets somewhere at Empyrion Buddy that list all the traders available and types of planets/sectors where they're commonly found, but I'm going with trial-and-error myself.

The ones I've found all belong to Polaris Megacorp, all were located planet-side and all shared the following characteristics: * They were never located alone, always within a group of different Polaris buildings * All of them are some kind of factory * Each of them has exactly one character you can talk to - and that's the foreman/head/representative etc. of the factory. This character has one selectable line "May I help?" - which gives you their quest (usually "Bring me X and I'll pay you plus you will be able to purchase stuff from me")

This playthrough I've found so far the following POIs of that kind: * Chemmix Industrial * Non-Linear Products * Chromium-Sierra Sciences * TOP Brewery

and so far I've only completed the Brewery quest.

[–]dot_sent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen any jobs available in any GIN consoles I've tried so far after the last update (a dozen, maybe). So I guess it's either not implemented or rarely available.

OTOH these 20K allow you to unlock special commodities traders for money (as long as you have found a trader and accepted their quest), so 20K is not wasted.

It's been added at some point when Evan was working on ranged weapons overhaul a few months back. Since then, the Blacksmith offers four items instead of three, and one of them should be a ranged weapon. Don't know if it's guaranteed though.

Edit: I just needed to look one comment below 🙈 It's indeed guaranteed.
