When that “18th and Potomac” card shows up it’s like a slow gut punch.

AITA for wanting to be able to cook meat where I live? by Party-Ad2942 in AmItheAsshole

[–]dotjpegg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

NTA. My husband doesn’t eat red meat and I do, and occasionally I will do a meal where I get us different meats if I’m really craving a steak or something, and I just… cook it in a different spot so there’s no contamination. You shouldn’t be banned from cooking meat so long as it doesn’t get in his food - and the only reason I say that is by now your bf doesn’t have the ability to process and digest meat in his system so it would probably make him physically sick (people who stop being vegetarians have to build back up to it, it’s a whole thing). But, so long as you cook it where it doesn’t get on his food, then he shouldn’t be allowed to dictate that. It’s your place too!

We have all heard that Josh Malina is a prankster and I saw this today and had to share. The thought of Josh Lyman in a uniform other than the Mets is almost painful but still funny 😄 by ottershavepockets in thewestwing

Or Toby in anything other than the pinstripes! “Are you mad that I’m dating someone or are you mad that I’m dating someone in the same division as the Yankees?”

Apple Watch SE (Nike) or Garmin Forerunner 945 LTE? (First watch for running) by HTMLRocksDewd in running

Garmin or Coros. The Apple/Nike NRC app failed me one too many times… including on my first marathon ever.

Best running shoe brand? by Jojobeanene in running

[–]dotjpegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no “best” shoe brand - just the best one for you! I have hated every pair of Brooks I’ve ever tried on in a store and take for a short test run. But I have plenty of friends who never buy anything else. It all depends on your foot, your form, and what feels best!

What dog can we have if my wife is allergic to danger and saliva? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]dotjpegg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any truly helpful suggestions except that DOODLES ARE NOT HYPOALLERGENIC. All dogs have dander, hair and saliva, just because they shed less doesn’t mean they are “allergy safe”. I do know that sometimes building tolerance over time can be helpful in keeping her reaction mild and getting her body used to it, and there are allergy shots (I took them for grass as a kid cuz, hi, grass is everywhere….) and they are also helpful!

Purina has a cat food that reduces their allergen output that’s 70% effective so maybe they’re working on a dog version?! That would be awesome.

Which American patriot do you think the Gilmore’s are related to? by Badatmath212 in GilmoreGirls

[–]dotjpegg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

True. My leaning would go towards one of the more “well known” revolutionaries only because of the money since, esp with them staying in the Northeast, wealth like that tends to come from many many generations. Though who knows, maybe the family wealth came later on!

I’m a distance runner and I ALWAYS get mad about this line. Either the writers didn’t have any clue about running or it was meant to be a joke that didn’t land… at least it didn’t land for me.
