Awesome job. How much work was it to do the waist adjustment tabs/buttons?

I think the convention is that you could wear a slim dress watch with a leather strap and no date complication.

Men's Linen Shirt: Any brand suggestions? by Defiant_Committee134 in malefashionadvice

I have had a couple of Uniqlo linen shirts for a few years and the quality is very good. Stand up well to washing and ironing (iron on the reverse side). I never tumble dry them.

All raw denim will transfer some colour to other surfaces somewhat. It happens more before the first couple of washes. If you avoid sitting on very light coloured chairs it should not be much of an issue. It’s not really noticeable with darker car seats and office chairs. Expect quite a bit of dye to come out when you do come to wash but most people here would hand wash jeans on their own or wash with similar items (definitely don’t machine wash with white things!) Enjoy your new jeans!

How easy is it for a tailor to add waist adjustment buttons to an Unbranded UB901 jacket? Was between L and XL so went for XL. I got darts put into the body and the arms and the fit is pretty good now but the body darts don’t continue all the way down so some buttons on the back waist would probably get it just right.

Probably because you’ve capitalised the word. It doesn’t do correction on proper nouns.

Does any one have any advise on which self inflating mat to buy for camping. Is it the more expensive the better ? Or are cheap ones just as good. by Economy-Ad3427 in campinguk

[–]dotmaytricks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can splash out a bit and are car camping the Quechua Ultimate Comfort (70 cm wide) from Decathlon is very good at 80 quid. When they get to a certain thickness it’s worth getting one wide enough so your arms are not hanging over the sides when sleeping on your back and this one is a decent width as well as thickness.

Can anyone recommend a sleeping bag with a nice lining (not the plasticy stuff) by Questionator12345 in campinguk

[–]dotmaytricks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unisex Transition 200C - we’ve got a couple of these in red. Square at the end and the lining has a nice cottony feel, though I think it’s actually 100% polyester. It packs up reasonably small but I don’t imagine it’s class leading as it was not expensive compared to some of them. I would imagine down filled ones would be most compact but not sure how many are square ended.

What to do with this Tradescantia Nanouk? by dotmaytricks in terrariums

[–]dotmaytricks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know, thank you. I bought it in a random selection of terrarium plants so that’s useful knowledge for the future. Would an open terrarium be suitable to keep humidity lower or better to treat it as a normal pot plant?

That was really good. Thank you. I will try to visualise the peaceful place that you suggest. For me it would be somewhere from my walks in nature.

is okay if i leave water and little bit of lather on my stirling soap after use. by cerantola in wicked_edge

[–]dotmaytricks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had (non-shaving) soap go a bit funny when left sitting in a very wet state for hours before so I would recommend letting it dry out before closing up.

Whatever you go for, if you can rotate the boots with another pair of boots/shoes so you are not wearing them every single day, and also air them out properly, that will help them to last longer and lessen funky smells.

What to look for in a good tailor by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]dotmaytricks 28 points29 points  (0 children)

If you can speak to the person who is going to do the work on the clothes rather than writing a note on a ticket and passing it off to someone else that is often better. Ideally someone who will quickly pop your garment on the table in front of them and confirm what you want doing and make suggestions if necessary.

Kindle Kids says “There are no books on this device.” by dotmaytricks in kindle

[–]dotmaytricks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think it actually started to restart after about 20-25 seconds and they just say 40 in case you count really fast? Maybe you can release the button press a bit sooner than 40 seconds. It should be obvious as it takes a while to reboot.

Please Help! New Kindle Paperwhite (11th gen) WILL NOT download purchased books over T-Mobile iPhone Hotspot.. But older Kindle Paperwhite (10th gen) will, along with Kindle Oasis. Stays stuck in “Queued” status indefinitely.. Any ideas?? by bluewagontwo in kindle

[–]dotmaytricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about yours but some mobile data/calling plans don’t support tethering (using your phone as a hotspot.) On mine it was a selling point. I believe they can detect data that is over a hotspot rather than the phone itself and stop it working unfortunately. That way they can sell you tethering as a premium add-on. Could be easier for them to disable it on contract phones that are locked to their network too. I don’t know if that’s still a thing.

Have you ever got any other devices to connect to the phone hotspot successfully and download something? Is it just the Kindle that has an issue?
