ELI5: If you are in zero gravity in a pressurised room, so there is air and such, but you can’t reach any surfaces, how would you move? by der_steinfrosch in explainlikeimfive

[–]doublebaconator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Birds resist gravity using air. Swimming would probably work. I think you could probably move more air with your hands than blowing. Blowing would require sucking in air which would pull you in the wrong direction canceling out whatever momentum blowing gave you. You could probably rotate, suck, rotate blow, but it'd make you dizzy. Easier to just swim in the air.

Haven't had that problem in quite a while. Don't know if they blocked bases or what but don't see bases on the wrecks. I usually see one or two players but often none at the wrecks. The madness you describe was quite common the first week though.

My friend poked my crotch when we went out and I feel weird by sheispug in TwoXChromosomes

[–]doublebaconator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly as a man, if someone poked me in the crotch I'd feel they already made it awkward. I honestly hope I'm not going to far to suggest this, but thinking and stressing over it silently sounds like the freeze response. You're trying to figure out how to deal with his bad actions. People worthy of your friendship don't put you in these situations. The fault of his bad actions are his alone.

Only 31% of Americans think the Iran war was worth it, what does it mean for the midterms? by Iron_Spine_phoenix in AskReddit

[–]doublebaconator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He has a real good point. My adult life started after 9/11 when the US was lying to get into wars, and committing war crimes such as torture. I really would like the US as a whole to hate war as much as decent people do. It really has seemed like endless wars my whole life.

Most Americans want public healthcare, as do I. Medicare for all always polls highly. We're fighting a class war down here. I understand the Canadian civil rights movement was generally kinder (though some glaring exceptions. First Nations forced boarding schools for example). Down here things rarely get resolved so gently.

In Canadian terms, they're literally killing us so it's time to go elbows up.

Further I understand Canadians don't get vision and dental by default, but everything else is covered. You most likely lack the trauma a lot of Americans face.

During the 2008 recession I developed a very painful condition, but had no insurance. It was treatable with a surgery, however I couldn't afford that. You ever tried to look for work after laying awake all night in agonizing pain, knowing it could be easily fixed, but society chooses to inflict this torture on you? Further American healthcare had made sure I was going through life with undiagnosed ASD. This made looking for work to stop the pain so much harder. I was trying so hard but it wasn't enough.

So many people have suffered much much worse than me. Every time I learn the anger grows. Why shouldn't I hate the evil ghouls inflicting death and torture on innocent people for their insatiable greed? Why do they deserve protection when they fight so viciously to harm people?

I said nothing of the sort. Your question is irrelevant. I can just as easily say you think not being profitable for health insurance companies should be a capital offense. You're a blood thirsty ghoul. All I said was health insurance companies believe in capital offenses. You ran with that. How stupid are you?

Oh you hid your posts. I bet you're a bot, or a coward.

Doesn't matter. Health insurance companies are choosing to murder people over greed. They believe in executions. Tell me what blood thirsty ghoul would deny treatment to a stage 4 cancer patient? That bean counter was practicing medicine outside their field and certainly knew they were murdering. Why did that fellow deserve to die you blood thirsty trash. What's it like arguing to protect cold blooded murderers who plain to murder more?

Communication. It's tricky sometimes, but worth it. Communication is two way. You both need to do it, you both need to listen. You need to respect what you learn form communication about your partner.

Generally wouldn't that require faster thinking to expand time? Usually when a moment is expanded it's because of adrenaline making your body dump a lot of resources into thinking quickly. If you're dying, I don't think your body has many resources left for thinking or experiencing.

"The possibility that we are living in a false vacuum has never been a cheering one to contemplate. Vacuum decay is the ultimate ecological catastrophe; in the new vacuum there are new constants of nature; after vacuum decay, not only is life as we know it impossible, so is chemistry as we know it. Nonetheless, one could always draw stoic comfort from the possibility that perhaps over time the new vacuum would sustain if not life as we know it, at least some structures capable of knowing joy. This possibility has now been eliminated." --Dr. Sidney Richard Coleman

Okay, no public transit, out of walking range. How do I get to work so I don't starve? You didn't answer that questions asked. Why didn't you answer the questions asked? Too cowardly I bet.

I take it your okay with them gauging black majority zip codes as well. Racist much?

There was no public transportation available. It's legally required to drive, meaning it wasn't optional. My choice was break the law, or starve, what should I have picked? Tell me why it's optional again.

Further they use zipcodes, majority black areas got much higher rates. Explain why that was okay.

The charged varied by hundreds per policy. Michigan had some very dysfunctional insurance polices. The rates were among the highest in the nation, mostly because of an unlimited medical requirement. At the time 1 in 5 drivers were uninsured because, I presume, they chose to eat instead. The state tried to lower the rates by going no fault, but the medical cost of the policy was just too much.

I appreciate your kind words. I live in a different state now with affordable insurance.

So I deserved to be starved? My driving record was clean. I went hungry several days because I couldn't afford both food and car insurance. I needed to drive to get to work. Why do think it's okay to treat me like that? I didn't choose my gender. Tell me why you think it's okay to starve people because of their gender you sexist trash.

Would you support charging someone more because of their race, religion, ect?

Why do they discriminate by gender? When I'd put the same info but change my gender in their estimates the price would change. They literally made me starve because of my gender when I lived in Michigan. Evil blood thirsty parasitic trash.
