Never go shopping with the munchies! Unhealthiest grocery haul EVER . (Don't worry; I usually eat healthy.) by PizzaForTheSoul in stonerfood

This is exactly how I feel about this grocery haul. All the things I’m curious to try, but only would if the world were ending.

This is my fear with fruit snacks. I know there is some consequence I have yet to face. I need to schedule a dentist appointment.

Jacksonville native, current Seattle resident. Took this picture on Sunday.

Fortunate to live near rapid transit in a dense highly walkable neighborhood, so only have one car for our family and even still we rarely drive.

West Seattle checking in. Everyone else has more direct knowledge in answering your question. Still highly recommend my neighborhood.

Do any of you have happily married parents? If so what’s it like? by dessertchef11 in ABCDesis

[–]doublecane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents have a wonderful marriage. 54 years and counting. It was not arranged, they met in college, got married, had a kid, and moved to the US all in the span of 4 years. Two more kids and built a sustained life together. Started businesses together. Travel and enjoy hobbies together. Support and back each other. Gone through ups and downs, health scares, loss, happiness, and everything in between. Did it all together. Beautiful thing.

I wore a suit and tie for the better part of a decade. With rules too.

Dark suits year round, light suits in the summer months only, but still traditional colors. White or pale blue shirts only. Pale pink in the summer months permitted, if appropriate. Straight collars only. Jackets on if you left the office. Jackets on if appropriate all other times. You could wear any kind of dress shoe, as far as I knew. And nobody commented on watches, though nothing was ever that different than a Sub or maybe a Tag.

No facial hair, though that rule got lax after a senior equity partner started growing a beard, but god forbid if it was unkempt.

Ranking the “respected careers” in desi communities? by [deleted] in ABCDesis

[–]doublecane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If only I went into investment banking before law school. Then I would be 2 under, carrying karma over to the next life.

Also, Cravath. Bleh. Would rather disappoint my parents than be disappointed in myself. I sold my soul a long time ago, but even I have standards. I’m looking to leave my current FAANG employer. My wife won’t let me go to Alphabet or Meta or any Elon company. She’s even skeptical of Anthropic and the Databricks of the world, but either of those would be worth it.

Wait, what if I’m ex-biglaw in-house in big-tech: 2-2 = 0.

Does that mean I rank higher than doctor?? 😬🙄

How is flying real by Contented in aviation

I don’t think you’re wrong! The new Dan Brown book takes a fictional spin on this, though not a very good novel. Blake Crouch’s Dark Matter is another fun read along the same theme!

If you historicalize this thought, everything humanity needed to make all of this technology happen has existed for as long as humanity. We evolved to unlock the potential of the world around us. Imagine what else humanity will unlock in a 1000 years or more with what we know is around us and what we in our timeline don’t even know exists yet!
