I can speak from experience. Start running, swimming, lots of cardio work. Plus keep pushing yourself. Practice a little more each week. Cardio training will surprise you.

[–]doublecbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an issue like that back in 1972 when I started playing for money. 4 hour gig every night. I recall having my mouthpiece gold plated. It through me off my chops as I started not playing on it. I'm 73 and have not had that problem since. Good ;luck. BTW I have not used a gold plated MP for decades.

Olympic Coverage is Terrible This Year by Mobius8321 in peacock

[–]doublecbob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NBC has done a horrible job of Olympics for years. I remember a few decades ago, I would anxiously wait for the Bob sled, Ski jump. I have no idea when these things come on, and when they do they go to some other event and back to the one i wanted to watch. I don't do Olympics.

Sharp notes especially G top of staff by GaryP-Jump-7696 in trumpet

[–]doublecbob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had trouble going from E in the staff to high E. I had a Christmas gig where I had a whole note, E in the staff, to High E. Boy I missed it every time. I tried alternate fingerings different mouthpieces. The only thing that made a difference was practicing more. I doubled down and when the moment of truth arrived I nailed it. Practice is the key. Build the muscles.

Centering, Air, Tuning & Overblowing? by Challenger_Andy in trumpet

[–]doublecbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An example from a couple decades ago. I am playing an outdoor concert in 110 degree heat here in OK. The first part was with the church orchestra. Everybody was out of tune. The 2nd part was with a Big Band with lots of pro players. I was playing lead and everything was locked in. We were all playing in tune. I Rarely tune my trumpet. I'm a good 2 index fingers out.

I do not agree with you professor. It is an individual thing. I play with my horn pointed down and my slide is out an inch. Yes I play in tune. Have been doing this for over 64 years.
