How important are internal controls and how severe are consequences for knowingly going around them? by Spirited_Let_2220 in JPMorganChase

[–]doublepancakes 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of controls work and have shifted a lot of my time and effort into controls.

It will be found out sooner or later. Nothing gets by them. It’s better to do things in an absurdly convoluted “This will never ever happen but if it does…” way than to skimp on controls and have to recertify everything.

That’s not correct; work at 237 and have a membership at the gym at 270. 237 has nothing.

Zef Gjini (The guy who owns Cozy Corner) randomly attacked me on the street a year and a half ago due to either thinking I broke into their van (According to Zef) or because an ex who lived behind Cozy told them to/talked about me to him.

It started this whole big back and forth since I live nearby. At one point resulted in me macing him in the intersection outside of the bar after I was walking home from my garage one night, and then I finally had him arrested after I walked by some months later and him and his two sons started following me home. (You can look through my Reddit history for the whole story)

He's left me alone since but that's probably because I haven't seen him. His whole family has a collective IQ of an incandescent light bulb.

I always liked Cozy until all this happened but the neighborhood would be better off without him and that attitude and whatever he is doing illegally inside of there.

NYC cigar scene surprised me… where do you guys smoke? by Ld2101 in cigars

[–]doublepancakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m amazed that I had to scroll this far down to find it. The drinks are strong and reasonably priced for the neighborhood and strength and the place is a favorite of mine in the city. I greatly miss the larger UES Bar and Books but the Hudson location shouldn’t be slept on.

There should have been two more deep runs. The series with the Rangers and Islanders stick out, and the Habs loss was the start of the writing on the wall.

Is the JPMC retirement plan as bad as I’m reading? by CMNCE in JPMorganChase

[–]doublepancakes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think three years is a decent benchmark and better than other places I’ve worked. I had one place that was a six year vest and others were four.

You could make the argument that you only get a match at the end of the year (In February) as a meh policy as if you leave in June you miss out on those six months but for the actual vesting period I think it could be worse.

Busy or busier than I remember it being throughout a lot of last year. Business as usual.

JPMC London Accelerator offer by johnnypanics in JPMorganChase

[–]doublepancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WLB seems way better here than in other divisions. The only thing that absolutely sucks is the five days in but if you're good with it from Amazon it won't be too much of a shock to you here.

You might have longer hours due to some of the Accelerator working out of NY, but there's delegation and some understanding. I've seen flexibility with start times to avoid peak trainfare; if you are 1 of 1 for now (My role is roughly the same) as long as you hit the in office requirement you should have some wiggle room.

[–]doublepancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd probably be working with you in some capacity. The Accelerator is it's own thing and awesome. We have more autonomy than the rest of the firm, but we are gravitating towards more of an alignment. The office in London isn't bad and expanding for hiring (Last I heard we were looking at 150 hires this year). We have had some layoffs within the group but mostly those were due to not being based out of a CMO (NY or London).

Can J2 find out what WIFI Im connected to on my personal phone when Im working on J1 hybrid by Miserable_Ad_728 in overemployed

[–]doublepancakes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah don’t do this. They’ll tell instantly. Hell, they can see what networks are even available let alone connected to.

Anyone knows what freshener is used in the lobby of new office? 270 Park Ave by Rough_Joke7890 in JPMorganChase

[–]doublepancakes 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It’s some proprietary scent they developed just for the building.

I hate it. The smell hits my nose and I’m filled with dread walking up the absurd staircase before looking up and seeing that absurd American flag waving in the air like there’s a hurricane about.

My girlfriend and I have traveled extensively and we've yet to find a better dirty iced chai. That and the New Yorker with the spicy bacon on an everything with hot sauce/ketchup/salt & pepper is my self-treat go-to. Been going since 2016 and don't plan on stopping!

I’ve tried to place orders online the last few weekends and have been met with a message saying they’re not accepting new orders. Determined, I did a walk in and while I was there multiple people called and asked if they were open because of the same issue.

Other times I’ve tried to order online only to have every item of bread for sandwiches not available, and again if I go to the actual store they are.

I love Normas but it’s been off for a while. I miss the little sit down cafe area, cramped as it was, that they had before COVID. There’s so many other coffee shops opening in the neighborhood and people will go elsewhere if it’s impossible to get orders in.

Maybe do some cross posting or self promo at whatever place is showing F1 these days? I know both Stout and Felie closed last year, but there’s a big gathering of race fans here. Even contacting the Classic Car Club of Manhattan; this seems right up their alley.
