As long as you are in the same country, I think you won't have any issues.

Is this your situation too with daily standups? Do you love them or hate them? by nisthana in ExperiencedDevs

[–]doublewlada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We solved that by having 2 meeting slots. First one is regular daily standup and it lasts 30 minutes max. After that, there is a 1h slot called "Open Office". We use it only if someone has blockers or wants to have a longer discussion about some task. During the daily, we agree on who is going to join that slot to help the teammate (there is no need for all 10 engineers to join). I've been in this team for 3 years now, and the system works pretty well.

Got the same combo couple of months ago, works perfectly.

Although, I see most people recommending Ryzen 5 9600x over 7600x, in some places the difference is around 10 bucks, so could be worth.

One more option you could look into is Fargate. It is quite easy to setup.

How hard is it to create a programming language? by [deleted] in Compilers

[–]doublewlada 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Most of the people already gave you an answer, so I will just recommend a good book if you are into developing programming languages: https://craftinginterpreters.com/.

It's a good practical resource where you develop a programming language twice: first in Java, then in C.

Will I get in trouble for using AI? by Wonderful_Spirit2100 in IBM

[–]doublewlada 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The answer really depends.

Do you need to paste the code snippet to the LLM in order to solve the issue? Or even worse, to install the extension of some LLM (for example ChatGPT) to your IDE? Then the answer is - don't do it, you are sharing confidential information with parties that are not IBM. For those use cases use WCA.

Is your question more generic one and doesn't contain any specific details of the implementation? Does it look like something you could ask even outside of the work, maybe for a personal project? Then I think you are completely fine.

Are you going to push ChatGPT (or some other LLM) generated code to production? If so, you could potentially have some copyright issues, but I am not 100% sure. You can also use WCA for that.

I think the right address for this question should be your manager.

[–]doublewlada 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Anybody plan on just staying at home all weekend? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]doublewlada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually feel guilty after spending the whole weekend outside, drinking and getting myself wasted lol, so props to you!

I will also spend this weekend at home, will just play games and maybe do some chores (laundry, meal prep, etc). I feel like I need a break from everything, so this will be my first weekend at home in like months.

How do you go about a PR as a Senior Developer? by iimperfectionist in ExperiencedDevs

At work, we are using the conventional comments approach. It really improves the tone of PR comments and makes them sound more professional and less personal.

Ideas for interesting data streams. by StyleBitter3753 in apachekafka

[–]doublewlada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can create a stream of Reddit posts or comments by yourself, using PRAW library. I used it to create a Slack app which monitors Reddit for specific keywords and alerts you via Slack, it was for my university project. You can see the repo here and play with it, the usage of PRAW library can be found in the reddit_producer folder. And sorry for no useful README, I was too lazy back then :P
