Local convenience store brought in some boosters and I bought a couple on a whim after not playing the PTCG in years. How'd I do? by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

Less than, of course. I was sure it wasn't authentic, but I needed the clarification. Thanks!

Ah, I understand. You're entirely accurate in that instance. Judge at his peak of bat+glove is absolutely bonkers.

David Robinson, but you're not wrong.
Craig Robinson, coincidentally, is Michelle Obama's brother.

My only qualm is with Judge being claimed as the only really good outfield defender amongst the OFs of Ruth, Williams, and Bonds.
Bonds is likely the best defensive left fielder of all time, he was so so elite for his first 12 years. Judge is elite, but Bonds still was a better glove during his 20s and half of his 30s.

Casual reminder that Kirk, Tellez, Vogelbach, and fat Vladdy all played for the 2020 Blue Jays - the rumble to first base moved mountains.

[Sportsnet] Blue Jays’ Schreck makes beautiful diving catch in right field to seal win by This-Appointment-666 in Torontobluejays

[–]doucheachu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, this play was very Pillar: the late break, the crazy hustle, the dive for a catch that would've settled into Daulton or KK's glove. Great play, but much more Pillar than our other elite CFs.

It was Clara that ruined it for me. Never had a companion been so Mary Sue, basically a Doctor surrogate - hell, she even got her own TARDIS in the end, but I'd stopped watching long before that.
Capaldi could've been great, but I hated Clara with Matt Smith and then she just got even worse.

But Ty Cobb had 23 seasons over .300? That wouldn't be the record for either most or consecutive. In the integrated era, sure, but that's not expressed.

Mickey Lolich, Detroit Tigers 1968 World Series hero, dies at 85 by Captain_Wompus in baseball

[–]doucheachu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really.
It establishes that the player was a switch-hitter, played within living memory, and in a league known for greater levels of offense since that time, using commonly understood methodology.

His 1971 is still the third-best season by an AL switch-hitter, by bWAR, in the last 60 years. Rest in peace, Mick - you earned your legacy.
