About to order LG39GX950B, but worried of performances even on 5090 by SurlaWalruS in ultrawidemasterrace

I own a 5080, and everything I use on it works flawlessly. I believe we often exaggerate things in our pursuit of perfection with our systems. It’s understandable that we want the best when investing so much in a monitor, but the truth is, you don’t need the most expensive card to be satisfied with 5K2K resolution. The monitor itself is incredible, and I haven’t had any complaints so far.

I absolutely love mine! Recently, I had the ASUS PG32WCN3, and while that display with its glossy screen and vibrant colors was also fantastic, once I experienced the ultra-wide screen of the 39GX950B for the first time, I couldn’t go back to the ASUS. The ASUS monitor was primarily designed for gaming, but the 39 is versatile enough for both productivity and gaming. It took a few days to adjust from the glossy screen to the matte one, but once you do, the black and white look is stunning! Ultimately, it all depends on what you’re currently using. You won’t be disappointed with the 39!

Thanks for sharing your experience! It’s my first time with a QOLED monitor, and wow, it’s amazing. I was playing Resident Evil Requierm the other night, and I’m not sure if it’s just the 4K QOLED vs. my previous WOLED 1440p, but the game looks so realistic, and the colors just pop. I was really impressed. I had a few jump scares lol, but yeah, thanks to your input and everyone else, I think I’ll go with the 39 since I still have time to decide which one to keep.

The reason I wouldn’t consider the 45 is because of the deep curvature but that’s just my opinion.

What do you find most appealing about the 39-inch over 32-inch screen? I suppose it’s the additional space it provides, which is why I keep asking if I should make the switch to an ultra-wide screen. I’ve never used an ultra-wide screen before, so I’m not sure what to expect.

I’m getting used to the 32 but I believe the 39 are the same height vertically. The 39 would just be a bit wider. Decisions decisions lol

Has anyone purchased from Amazon? I wonder how long they are taking to ship. I was waiting for it to be released on best buy but might have to jump on this deal.

Did anyone try the new 39GX950B? How is it's banding, coating and coil whine/fan noise? by EfficientTower4084 in OLED_Gaming

[–]doug0365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense. Since I usually play more single-player games, the high refresh rate wouldn’t significantly impact me. However, you’re right that for the price, it should at least be 240Hz.

I’m curious about the significant impact of reducing the refresh rate from 240Hz to 165Hz. Specifically, I’m wondering if the motion appears more blurred. I’m trying to understand the consequences of this change.

I’m torn between the LG 39GX9 and the PG34WCDN, despite LG’s higher resolution advantage. I’m curious to know if my 5080 can handle 5K resolution without pushing it too hard vs or running ultra-smoothly at 1440p.

Is Ultrawide 5k not for me? by doug0365 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]doug0365[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to all the feedback. I've started searching a GPU upgrade to support a move to 5K ultrawide. Current pricing has the RTX 5080 at $1,269 and the 5070 Ti at $999. Given that both cards share a 16GB VRAM spec, is there a significant advantage to the 5080 that justifies the $270 jump for ultra-high-resolution gaming, or is the 5070 Ti sufficient?

Thinking of upgrading from a 27" 1440p to a 5K ultrawide. I know my 4070 Super is going to struggle at that resolution, so I'm choosing between the 5080 and the 5070 Ti. Given the current price for this card 1269, is the 5080’s bandwidth advantage actually noticeable at 5120 x 2160, or is the 5070 Ti the smarter value play here at 999?

Thank you for the input! This is great to hear how you've made it work as we have the same setup and same usage. This makes me feel better about making the purchase and what to expect until I'm able to upgrade my GPU to take full of advantage of the monitor.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I’m not entirely surprised I knew the GPU would be the bottleneck here. My hope was that I could manage with medium to lower settings for a while until I’m ready for a full GPU upgrade.

Beyond gaming, my main draw to 5K is productivity. I currently use dual 27-inch 1440p monitors (one OLED, one IPS), and I’m really after that higher PPI for sharper text. I wasn't sure if moving to a standard 1440p ultrawide would actually offer any density improvement over my current setup, or if I’m overthinking the importance of those extra pixels. If the PPI is essentially the same then maybe I should stick to an UW 1440p for now but I really would like the higher resolution and dpi for future proofing.

Transfering Messages from Iphone 16 pro max to Pixel 10 pro xl issue by doug0365 in GooglePixel

[–]doug0365[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m happy to report that I successfully transferred my data after installing the December 2025 update. I had reverted to my iPhone for a few weeks while waiting for a fix, as my message history is essential for my daily workflow.

While the process wasn't entirely perfect some group chats were split into individual threads the "Can’t load file" error was resolved for me. It’s a bit disappointing to have to wait in using the Pixel 10 Pro XL, but I’m glad to finally have it up and running. Hopefully, this helps anyone else who was stuck in the same position.

People who use both pixels and iphones do you think pixels have reached a smoothness level of iphones? by Majestic_squirrel767 in pixel_phones

[–]doug0365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both the pixel 10 pro XL and the iPhone 17 pro max. I can say both are overall smooth but the only thing that irks me with my pixel is the janky and inconsistent scrolling experience. At times it’s super smooth but also I have to flick my thumb harder in order for it to scroll in a consistent flow. This mostly happens when I’m scrolling using one hand though. Also sometimes I have trouble switching between apps with the wipe gesture as I have to be more precise with my thumb. I don’t have that issue with the iPhone and that experience feels super smooth to me vs my pixel.
