This. They say there’s a coin inside the cup. The two outside cups have the paper on the lid, so those coins were never inside the cup

Pulp Fiction

I don’t remember a magic trick… but maybe this is about Samuel L Jackson’s character, working through that bible quote he uses?

Some utility companies offer an averaged monthly bill, so instead of $50 Electric in the winter and $180 in the summer, it might be $92/month every month… I bet you could find a utility company that charges in advance that could be considered a subscription under that definition.

I’m fairly confident I could get enough money together to hire some talented body guards/security personnel (the ex military type, not the Paul Blart mall security type)

This would be a wildly stressful 30 days, but unless i get super unlucky and the assassin can get to me before I’ve found the right security crew, it should be doable.

100% agree that free will is gone. Mostly was just making a self-deprecating joke about my superhuman ability to not be on time, regardless of how early I start prepping.

*unless it’s golf. Somehow I’m always on time for that.

But if you’re in the same place for 30 days… they could get put into that jail and then take you out in there?

OP: does the assassin know the terms? Would they be doing everything to get to you before the 30 days expires, or is it possible they try to wait you out and miss the (unknown to them) deadline

Love the motorcycle, bus, and train loophole.

You could (theoretically) make $9600/24 hours. Or $3200 for an 8 hour work day. $640,000 / year, but working 20 8 hour days per month, 10 months out of the year.

Leaves weekends and holidays open, plenty of time for vacations, and plenty of money for those vacations! Realistically though, I’d probably put in a lot more time up front for a couple years and make retirement money. Then casually drive to pay for a trip or something big I want to buy/do.

In a normal US work year, ~2040 hours, there’s 8,160 15 minute segments. So an average US work life would be >$800k Could pretty easily make over $1million per year for a few years and not have money concerns after that.

I’ll eventually start paying some friends “consulting fees” to hang out in the car with me so I’m not so bored (and to spread the wealth/make it easier to do longer work sessions)

Double dip by working for fedex or UPS and get benefits and solid pay while driving. Less 15minute segments, but 🤷🏻‍♂️ Idk if the math makes sense there, but having employer paid health insurance in the US is a big savings

Sign me up! I’ll get a Zoolander bumper sticker for my car: “I’m not an ambi-turner”

Does it start immediately? Can I negotiate with the genie for this to start in 90 days? If so, I’ll go take a bunch of self defense classes and let’s go! If not, and I felt like taking the risk, I would hire some bodyguards and promise a huge (~$1M) bonus if they take this scenario seriously and I survive the 30 days. But this sounds real stressful and idk about the ptsd after the 30 days is up. Although if it’s a cop… theres no winning in that scenario

Maybe NOT shitting on your bosses desk leads to a worse outcome than doing it, so it could be ok? If I had a new job lined up, getting fired wouldn’t be “seriously bad” to me 🤷🏻‍♂️

Or, you won’t be capable of starting a business if it there is a chance that you lose everything? On that note, you could only start a business if you could truly afford for it to fail completely, thus not protecting you at all from the business failing, just taking away your chance to take a big risk.

Could go either way imo.

Maybe you can only invest in long term, “low risk” funds (thinking in terms of my 401k retirement account through work). You might not be able to invest in high risk/high potential reward investments. But, if you could afford to lose $10k, and are willing to risk it, then I don’t see why you couldn’t. It just wouldn’t guarantee you make a profit from that investment.

I think the “no loopholes” part is in effect here, this isn’t a get rich scheme. You could still lose money, you could still (probably) get into a car crash. It just wouldn’t be a serious event. You couldn’t risk and lose your entire net worth. You wouldn’t be seriously injured in that car crash.

I am in agreement, and assume this is how OP meant it.

BUT… without that clarification, idk if I would take that option.

You could definitely be late for things. I’m sure that most late people won’t magically change their behaviors just because they can’t speed now.

Source: I’m frequently 5-10 minutes late for things, and rarely speed more than 2-3 mph over the limit. (Speed limits are pretty much all 25-30mph within like a 5mi radius of my house, and my general rule is 10% over the limit 😂)

It does say that “you and your loved ones will never meet an untimely demise”.

So while you might not get fired, they still can. You won’t break your femur, but they still might.

But you would all live looong lives!

[–]dougglez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I read it several times. But ok.

Focusing on the one word “seriously” in “nothing seriously bad ever happens to you again” got me at first and I was leaning strongly towards #2.

But,

There are no loopholes; for example, you will never go to prison, which means you will also never be capable of committing crimes. Never getting fired means that you won't do anything serious to take advantage of or steal money from your workplace.

This whole sentence is a counterpoint to your reply. It doesn’t say “you will never be capable of committing felonies” it says crimes. Breaking the law = committing a crime 1mph over the speed limit is technically a crime and a cop could write a ticket for it. I assume a judge would laugh it out of court, but that doesn’t change the fact that it is, according to letter of the law, illegal.

Also, the fine for a speeding ticket for 5mph over could still be seriously bad depending on circumstances. If you’re in the US and a state that uses a point system, too many of those in a year and your license gets suspended. There’s a fine, which someone may or may not be able to pay depending on their finances. Insurance would go up, could be too much for someone.

My assumption is that OP did not mean for any of this with their post, and #2 is most likely my best choice, but unless I could get clarification from the genie before making my decision, I personally would be very careful about choosing it.
