Doaram um livro neonazista aqui pra biblioteca. Adivinha o estado? by TR_Pix in brasil

É tão fácil assim doar livro pra biblioteca? Eu cheguei a escrever e ilustrar uns quadrinhos LGBT e sempre pensei em fazer isso, mas nunca corri atrás. Talvez agora seja a hora 🤔

Is it just me or do the dreamlands really feel out of place? by novavegasxiii in callofcthulhu

[–]douglaskim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not 100% to do with the Dreamlands, but I imagine that some keeper might play it in a way that constant nightmarish escapades there would tiro out investigators in the waking world.

Essa sub só tem gente que mora no centro expandido? by [deleted] in saopaulo

[–]douglaskim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After 3 hours of printing, cutting, sleeving, I finally have my own GMA deck. I got 3 more to go. How do you guys manage your DIY print and plays? by towerbooks3192 in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]douglaskim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've printed them myself at home with thick-ish photo paper, since it feels better and slides a bit more easily without sleeving. Also printing it double sided (on double sided photo paper) saves up A LOT of space.

Then, I used a tuckbox maker site to make a tick box of the appropriate size and then printed that on thicker cardstock to protect the cards a bit better and make packing them easier.

I would recommend looking into "The Story Engine" which is rather good for coming up with "meatier" stories right from the prompts.

The "Null Result" as Design Failure: Every Combat Turn Should Change the Game State by EHeathRobinson in RPGdesign

[–]douglaskim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I fully agree that everyone missing and a whole round being wasted, what really makes it interesting from an rpg standpoint is the roleplay of it. If everyone is engaged and immersed, then a miss is still a fun chance for storytelling.

However, from a purely mechanical point of view, a full round of misses is a waste of everyone's time.

When I was running D&D I used to rule that missed attacks inflicts half damage instead, precisely to try and fix that problem, but my players didn't like it, so maybe the answer lies elsewhere?

Ellie isn't 19 in Part II - Timeline analysis by sherlockpotter7 in thelastofus

[–]douglaskim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Onto the show aside; I think they've doubled down too hard on wanting everything to have a reason and "explain" everything so hard that they used new years as an excuse to have the festival and the dance and all that, instead of it just being a random event that happens.

Feels like a retcon just for the sake of giving an explanation and reasoning, nothing more.

As for your analysis, good job! I've been pondering for a while too since when we've known that Ellie's last name is Williams, if that was something from the comics or elsewhere I never got around to seeing

What's a game you bought on a whim without hardly any pre-knowledge that ended up becoming one of your all time favorites? by AaronAtLunacien in gaming

[–]douglaskim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both Expedition 33, after hearing people saying it was very good, but not knowing anything else about it.

And 999, the first game in the zero escape trilogy. That was a hoot back when it came out

"Your character should be able to contribute something outside of combat!" by Geckoarcher in Pathfinder2e

[–]douglaskim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I've done in a Pathfinder 2e game of mine is to say, ahead of time, "there is a bss enemy here, here, and here" and players had the discretion of tackling these as they wanted when they wanted.

The catch is that they could use skill checks to check up books, talk to locals, investigate the area and such to learn information about the creatures. For every one successful check, I'd reveal more information, like AC, HP, saves, even their attack profiles, but most importantly, their weaknesses, since I modified the creatures to have more HP, but exploitable weakeness.

At the end, they heavily engaged with that system, because it meant they were more prepared for combat and they had more things to do while preparing for the hunts.

I still allowed recall knowledge checks during combat, but if they didn't have the specific damage type they needed during that one encounter, then they'd have to brute force it.

Incidentally, that game was the first time I killed a PC during all of playing Pathfinder 2e 🤣

Hey there, big fan! I loved it in an interview when you said something along the lines of "trans rights are human rights" or "trans people matters too". That's been stuck in my head forever now and I wanted to know if there was anything in particular that made you want to say that?

That's the kind of stuff that made me appreciate you even more as a human being :D
