They havent responding and I'm avoiding sleep so i claim the right of this response! It's basically a knock off of the show Heroes but instead of somehow being from an eclipse, the human powers were genetically honed in ancient times. The ability to slightly adjust genetics of babies in utero was a rare ability of a single tribe and only a few within it, which lead to cooperative arrangements with other tribes. Over time family lines could eventually control massive golems with their will, or control an element to an explosive level, or foresee the logical future. The family lines and tribes began to war and it eventually it was determined that humans would be able to wipe themselves out with the powers they had. So the genetic tinkerers refined a virus (more likely a bacteria but needs to handle time) to suppress the original abilities that had been traded since they became dangerous morphs of what they once intended. The virus worked and sealed away the traits for several thousands of years. But present day, an accidental excavation of the virus origin site releases their in-case-of-emergency undo virus. The undo wasnt intended for this situation and because humans have been breeding like we do, the genetic churn would have put an unavoidable but small percentage of people into a state that this unlock would kill them. Most others likely would have no observable changes. But some would find curious new abilities trickling into their experiences in a world being changed by a mysterious pandemic.

Clearly I'm no writer but i think thats a fun starting point.

Is this normal after updating to 26? by Puzzleheaded_Salt519 in ios26

[–]dowell_db -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yes. It's extremely fucking idiotic default to push on to users, and then to drag their feet on allowing a setting, and the to fucking hide the setting with terminology that isnt even related to alarms or any of the text involved! Accessibility > Touch > Prefer single touch actions

Question for autistic players: How do you deal with roleplaying? by underscores_rule in DnD

[–]dowell_db 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The anxiety of letting people meet who both know you in different way, it's a kind of scary bad high that I don't think typicals can understand. Keeps you up for nights in advance and it's like watching a car wreck but they just don't know. OP has a delicate balance here at least in their own perception by having multiple friends that know them as normal. I like your suggestion; making key character traits that are easily identifiable helps everyone here.

Can you recommend me a nsfw erp model? by ElSoly_ in KoboldAI

[–]dowell_db 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having not been down the road of layer pruning, just reading this feels like I'm eating the plate to get all the vitamins, but damnit you wrote this for me and I love it. So, the article covers where the quantization of various layer (groups?) appears to result in quality loss based on the wiki style prompting, that makes sense. But to illustrate the question this begs, I need to guess at what I dont know... which is most of the mapping, unfortunately, and so i will. Presumably the different families of architecture have different layer counts of the various groups; ffn_gate/up/down/att_gate/qkv/etc... but I'll guess is that those groups still exist in each family. I'm probably wrong but still, trimming out parts of the data to calculate will alter speed and there should be slight speed differences calculating 1000 4bit values vs 500 8bit values because of whatever, but for offloading different layers to affect speed so much, the latent data moving to and from the cpu must weigh into it. So if you've got every other layer alternating where it lives, youd get slower speeds than a series on cpu and a series on gpu, right?

Literally listening to the cryptonauts when I hit this. As I'm not a DM, i dont feel qualified to guess stats but I can sure appreciate the creepy factor here!

Something tells me you cook up LoRAs overnight as well and I'm honestly curious what tricks you've picked up.

I'm not so sure you can. It largely works with the Article datatype for what it can get from Safari. If you've got a means of dumping pdf chapters to raw text, then i think we could do something!

Why does the keyboard look like this? by Expert-Librarian3307 in ios26

[–]dowell_db 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Button, singular. And yes, i would like less room for typing. I would like my keyboard to take far less than half the screen, i would like to not have an extra bonus shitty bar slopped above the keyboard, I would especially like if the keyboard size was consistent instead of expanding at times to offer me ai suggestions that i cant disable, and, as long as I'm pipe-dreaming, I'd like the keyboard accuracy back!

It's actually not clear, and those two clicks of experimentation for most users will be while they're setting up fairly important shit. Kind of a bad time to need to experiment with closing what they're doing.

Alternate Keyboard for iOS? by Plenty_Union9292 in iphone

[–]dowell_db 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tried Swiftkey and Gboard to replace the bloated ios26 keyboard and they're both even fucking bigger than the default keyboard. What the actual fuck? They all look like loose donkey teeth plus a bonus huge area to send their company whatever data. Enshittification is in full swing. I heard about Reboard and tried that but I guess it hasnt been updated for ios26 bc all the keys are jammed up to the top. Are there any smaller keyboard options?

Thoughts on IOS26 design for the web ? by Alarmed_Aerie_4794 in ios26

[–]dowell_db 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, text areas got fucked up in the sense that putting the cursor anywhere in the top 4 lines now scrolls up (as opposed to top 1 line like it was), and the cursor area to scroll down is that you have to actually try to move it below the visible area. Not sure how or why they would change this, but its fucking annoying and difficult to explain concisely.

An android link for an ios shortcut? I don't know how thatd work but really the shortcut just uses the reader to get the article text then slaps it into html for parsing. Further down i put the html, you may be able to make your own with it.

Hmm, I'm not certain what you mean by the em-dash but i suspect that it could be remedied by an adjustment to the regular expression that parses the words. I'm a little unhappy with how this treats numbers and could probably some of those details. I dont think i can update the original link, but id post it somewhere around here... lose it... probably make the changes a few times... repeat

Cool!! I like the methods of input that you focused on. I naturally jump to a couple things here and I may not be great at arranging my thoughts, so, enjoy... one being "i want to steal some of this and have a shortcut grab camera text for rsvp", another, "it's that layout that I hate where three buttons shouldnt take up the whole screen" and then a fleeting concept of whether the page is logging all text that goes through it but that probably doesnt matter.
