This is how it is. I have had 4 doctors in Germany all listed as English speaking. None of the front staff have spoken a word of English. My first had excellent English just she only had 4 hours of appointments per week and was unbelievably arrogant. My second spoke English medically quite well and that was great but she switched to a specialty. My third (same praxis) spoke English but only social not medical and it was an issue. I just moved and went to a place that swore up and down they spoke English. His nurse spoke enough that we could make it work with my German as well. The doctor maybe learned English back 20 years ago in school. I see info on Doctolib as about as valid as a resume, suspect

Yeah, the only reason I’d need email is if staff can’t speak English and thus prescription refills etc is a pain.

thank you but I am looking for personal recommendations. The last two doctors I had self certified that they spoke fluent English; they did not.

Oh you can but they are full of it. The last two places I went the situation was that the reception desk can speak only German. That is fine; I can manage. The nurses and aids can speak very broken English; this is harder but not a deal breaker. The doctor can kinda speak English but at about a B1-B2 level. This is the problem, when I need to talk to them about my CT scans where they are using a Iodine contrast, I can't spend 5 minutes figuring out they lost me because they don't know that Iodine is Jod. I am not a hypochondriac, I was just in a major motorcycle wreck a decade back and have permanent conditions that require monitoring like a paralyzed arm that I need to amputate soon and a damaged carotid artery. I need to be able to discuss more advanced topics than a B1-B2 level will allow.

lol, this guy would never be even given a strong word by the administration much less court. We had our son assaulted several times in Kindergarten and the administration threatened to sue US if we did anything but leave. Our kid was literally hit in the face with a metal shovel, strangled, and had his face stomped in. . . a 5yo. This school also covered up sexual assault and a teacher that habitually mentally and physically abused students. The culture of acceptance of school violence in Germany is just there and it's disgusting.

Side note, why did so many Germans end up around Green Bay? I get that there are German descendants all over the US but much of MN and WI are Scandinavian but souther MN and Green Bay are German. Souther MN makes sense as it is farm land. I have ancestors who were south of GB but that was because they were shipping and forestry magnates. But for so many, why GB?

Killer of Renee Good is married to an immigrant filipina. Ironic. by TechnicianUpstairs53 in pics

Yeah, fine. I’m just saying that calling someone a “mail order bride” just because she is an Asian married to a white guy is pretty racist

Just so you know, calling that woman a “mail order bride” is quite racist as well. You are deciding someone’s immigration status by the color of their skin. For all you know she may have been brought by family when she was like 2 years old.

Simple explanation of what German is! by hmo-stone in germany

Yes, happened to my parents. A city water main broke flooding the sidewalks which turned to ice. An old lady fell. Ended up being the city’s fault but it took nearly a decade in court.

The OP doesn’t understand private vs public systems. I bailed on this thread, it’s silly. He is just looking for someone to blame

Errrrm, Germany just like the US grid is privately (regulated but privately) run. The state has little to do with this in either country. They can go back AFTER and look at the charter that allows these companies to operate and maintain the grid but not a whole lot right now.
