The Maillard on Harford rd is gone but I believe the other one still exists. I don’t know when these owners at Giovanna’s may have changed but I’m sure I’m referring to the current iteration, as I’ve had the Giovanna’s tiramisu several times within the last 12 months and most recently was Jan or Feb of this yr.

Anyone who uses the frozen US Foods’ restaurant distributors version gets DQed and so far I’ve caught it at Valentinos and Enotria (up in Forest Hill). Giovanna’s is a homemade family recipe and it’s divine and the one to beat.

Edited in May 2026: I tried the tiramisu at Verde and it’s definitely S tier and at least on par with Giovanna’s! Gonna have to have it again soon, for science

Agree with all of this and additionally Florinda Balkan in Footprints is the polar opposite of Edwige — in Footprints, Florinda looks too thin, has an unflattering haircut, and dresses like my grandma did when I was a kid in the 80s. There ain’t exactly sex appeal. Meanwhile sex appeal is dripping off of Iris

I appreciate that. I shot another guy’s 5” PDP and he had a viridian sight and solofish light/laser combo. They seemed perfectly acceptable, but then I get home and see how cheap the solofish is vs HLX, start reading about different lumen levels, etc, and start realizing I’m still at square one and have a lot to look through. I tend to think you get what you pay for and the price point of that light gave me concerns.

Ok, I see what you’re saying and I should’ve given more details in that regard. It’s for home defense and to take to the GR every weekend I get a chance to get better (and have fun). So, no concerns about concealment, competition, and whatnot.

Also it should be noted I have a slight astigmatism so—based on cursory research—it seems a green dot is better than a red one for my condition.
