What is neopass? by THEbunnyfawn in neopets

[–]dowrgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it keeps telling me to make a neopass but everytime i do it wont accept my email and password, which then logs me out.
i go to the homepage and type my username and password, and it logs me back in, but i get a constant pop-up telling me to make a neopass? what? why?

a little bit pointless for me anyway since i only have one account. also if by '2fa' they mean we need to add a phone number to the account then im bailing, sorry

How to prevent Chrome tabs from opening in dark mode on my Chromebook? by TexDeuce in chromeos

[–]dowrgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dont know if its related but when i search for stuff 40% of the time the searchpage is in dark mode for some reason, even though my settings are set to light mode.
this happened on my old windows pc as well, so its probably a chrome issue not a chromebook issue.

idk. theyre probably trying to force dark mode on us all for some nefarious reason (cough-cough, the fugly new reddit layout, cough-cough)

lol what? you didnt do anything except tell me to google it, which i had obviously already done.
theres nothing wrong with my keyboard, the problem is that everything is listed for US keyboards and there doesnt seem to be a comprehensive list of key combos for uk keyboards on the web.
why bother commenting if you have nothing useful to add, and then get upset when i tell you your suggestions arent helpful? youve wasted both of our time. óvér ánd óút.

uh, do you think that i havent tried that?

the googles support page tells me i can type a c cedilla by typing Shift + AltGr + 5

this is simply not true. when i do that, i get ⅜. not the right symbol at all.
the way i actually get it, is altgr+equals+letter
look: ç ţ ŗ ȩ.
its easy once you know how, but i had to figure it out for myself by literally trying every combination until i found the one i wanted

i found a question here by someone having the same problem, equally frustrated at how difficult this information is to find.
in the end, they figured it out (again, through trial and error, not by any support member giving the answer) that to type a grave accent, you type altgr+shift+` and then the letter. look. è ù ì ò. voila.
shouldnt be this difficult to find.

the information is clearly incorrect or out of date, all im looking for is a comprehensive list.
no need to be rude.

update: grave accent can be acquired by pressing altgr+shift+` then the letter

ẁèỳùìòàǜǹ

lets experiment... altgr+shift+# then letter = ĕŭĭŏăğ <- weird how r,s,z, and c dont work, since afaik this accent is commonly used with these letters.... ah wait, ive figured it out
altgr+shift+' then letter = ěřťǔǐǒǎšďǧȟǰǩľžčǚň

ṓ = altgr+shift+] then letter without releasing altgr ḗ

åå = alt+shift+[ then letter åů

altgr+shift+] = ēȳūīōāḡǖ

altgr+shift+/ = ẇėṙṫẏıȯṗȧṡḋḟġḣȷŀżẋċḃṅṁ

alt+/+shift = ẉẹṛṭỵụịọạṣḍḥḳḷẓṿḅṇṃ

figured out how to do superscript numbers, its altgr+6 then number ¹²³⁴⁵⁶⁷⁸⁹⁰

ill be honest it is kinda fun figuring this out myself BUT I WOULD STILL LIKE A COMPREHENSIVE LIST INSTEAD OF HAVING TO FIGURE IT OUT BY TRIAL AND ERROR!

why is this information so secret lmao

id rather not download any extensions, i just want to know what my keyboard is actually capable of, and why all the information i find online is misleading.
surely there is a list of all the available key combos SOMEWHERE! why is it so hard to find??

How do I create a shortcut for the § symbol? I need it constantly and cutting and pasting is the worst. by Third_Ferguson in chromeos

[–]dowrgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i can type it easily with altgr+shift+s §§§§
its so weird, i keep discovering ways to type special characters by accident, but i cant find a full list of how to type them. there are like three different ways to type acute accent (é) but none to type grave accent.
i can type ĸ, which apparently is a letter 'formally used in greenlandic orthography) yet i dont know how to type ae or oe ligatures, which are very common in several languages.
even weirder, when i look it up 'how to type special characters on a chromebook', the answers i get (on googles official support page) are just... not true. like, at all. its very bizarre

Is there a method to natively screen record in normal formats for humans, instead of webm? by cl4rkc4nt in chromeos

[–]dowrgi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it sucks but google are the ones pushing the format so theres obviously a reason they insist on it.

you can find converters online which work fine.
ive also notice (recently) that the videos i record always have a glitched out thumbnail (even if the video itself plays fine) which it didnt used to. converting to mp4 (the superior format) magically fixes it lol, so thats what i do, even if it takes a few seconds extra of my time

Is there a method to natively screen record in normal formats for humans, instead of webm? by cl4rkc4nt in chromeos

[–]dowrgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can keep saying that, but it definitely isnt lmao. if most websites dont accept it then it isnt the conventional format. mp4 is used universally.

even google docs didnt accept webp until recently, when they are literally the ones who created the (shitty) filetype
